Penalty system debate is just going to be on running soap opera.
I think the penalty system works well when all racers are similar racers understand how to race, but it totally goes out the window when you have idiots that just don’t understand. As @BigSarj says I think the whole SR system need reworking. I got called a cheat today but I got a clean race bonus so how does that work?

This clip was one race today.
1st incident - Porsche serves a penalty and the McLaren behind hit them due to the ghost reappearing but what makes it worsts is the Porsche is still accelerating and then goes off.
2nd - McLaren goes wide then decides to just cut the corner and take people out, no penalty awarded
3rd - classic people don’t know they need to adjust the braking, slams into two cars and no penalty.

Damn, I stand corrected. How those guys got away with it is beyond me. My first race had a juvenile delinquent doing such things to people but at least he was racking up the penalties. There seems to be a major lack of consistency.

I take the last turn (if I can) with an apex about 5 to 10 meters later, so just past the apex.. but I have to admit I also use the corner markers.. I know the pros don't need them, but I have they like and they help me.

But one other thing, I hope you can tell me something about that... I just had my last race and again there was an incident. I really don't think I was at fault here and I didn't do anything wrong... Ok after the race when he started complaining I shouldn't have called him NOOB... but I knew what was coming. .. And even after that he continued to text me via PSN what a Pig and unfair driver I was. OK sometimes I get angry... when I get hit badly... but here... I really had nothing to do with this driver. Or how do you see that..

I'm really getting my head around.

You weren't at fault at all. He put 2 wheels on the grass and lost it....not sure if her regained control and intentionally side swiped you, but its possible. His comments post race were out of order and to take it even further by sending you psn msgs is even worse. Hopefully you reported them, not sure if makes any difference but its prob more successful than reporting in game to pd

Do the trash talkers who use the meta & barely beat me in a Scirocco think they are good or what? I had some silly merican trash talker saying im slow when he was in a wrx and squeezed me on inside when i was turning in to barely beat me, everyone else realized error of his nonsense & called him out and all he could say was, "use something else" which i politely responded " thats too easy & you are not good, you just a typical meta driver"

Mind you, i dont care when people beat me or win in meta car, but dont talk trash when everyone behind us saw what you did for your "win"

P.S. i stay driving Scirocco & Beetle because thats what i have to use in Manu races, so while i do use other cars, i tend to use them mainly so i can get better with them, not because i dont want to win

I think I understand very well what you mean... as soon as my steering wheel is back, I want to use my M4 on my 2nd driver.... I think I can reach a level with it that will be completely sufficient for B. My first 5-6 laps with the gamepad at least indicate that I could achieve a very good 1.42.xxx with him in qualifying, which is completely sufficient. With the WRX I'm currently only at 1.42.4xx because I always make a mistake somewhere....and still I've had some successes this week...with the M4 I'll do that too...and then it will be some very surprise...

First proper race today this week in race B and such a shame how much the penalty system being removed has ruined it. It’s like GTS was now where you have two choices. Defend for you life in every corner by hugging the inside and ruining your times and any chance of having a good race, or try and race properly and get rammed off at every corner also resulting in a pointless race.

HOLD UP.....Penalty system has been altered ? ....

I know your A+ @NikNakTobasco so I'm amazed your experiencing this in upper lobbys. For me....I've had some great races with very little incidents, a 1.41.6 time has always put my top 5 in my lobbys (does being on ps4 make a difference ?) ...won 2, was 2nd, 3rd, 4th in others.....If i keep doing race b at this rate I'll get my A+ rating back. Only incident i remember was some guy missing braking point/punting guys in 2nd when he was 4th at the chicane.....oh and i was in a race with Mr Kimi but he got a 5sec penalty on first lap so just i just stayed behind until he served it....

And lastly....... Why is everyone using the WRX ? i know on time trial leaderboard its fastest but the 155 Alfa is just better imo. I'm so confused.....is it just I'm good in the Alfa (with its mega downforce) or is everyone else just missing something. Every race I've been in the apparent lack of speed the Alfa has compared to the WRX hasn't been noticeable......on the corners, chicane....over kerbs i gain so much time. My thinking was that either some dont have the Alfa or they just managed one decent lap in the WRX on time trial....

If you have the Alfa but are choosing the WRX I'd love to hear your thoughts.

You can watch all this back here >

@TechnoIsLove you’re famous! Well, you’re caught up in the carnage at least in Race B.
@LGBT_Barron see the video below. The A+/A races are pretty filthy at the moment as the penalty system being turned down so much and the margins being so small you’ll get opportunist dives quite a lot. I think being on PS4 might well make a difference as another poster said the ps4 lobbies were cleaner as well. I think it was @sturk0167?

wow,i always thought finnish people (scandinavian in general) are more on the cool side of life (think:“iceman“Kimi 🤓) but both of them take no prisoners.Embarrassing to watch 😳

i was thinking myself 2-3 times if it‘s a good idea to call out people (the world is full of hate already and its just a game after all) but if someone decides to be a jerk,it‘s a fair warning for others to take care when they share a lobby ;)

Jeez just watched that....... The chicane incident was bad but the last race at the hairpin was just a clear punt. I do wonder if people just punt the well known streamers for some unknown reason.

On the plus side good for Rory's YouTube analytics.

The Fins normally are very clean in my experience also. Shame to see such antics.
of course, not wanted to make it a general rule.I can‘t even remember that i ever had a bad situation with some finnish. There are other countries, where i‘ll look more often than necessary into the backmirror when they are behind me :D

is this“idiots of the week“video still a thing?I think it should be posted here each week if yes ;)

I remember that prick! Called him out after the race too 😤🖕🏻

Just came on here to rant basically.

Tried some racing last night in Race B. I got a 1:43.6 which is pretty average. I know I can shave at least 1.5secs off that time though as I was -1.5 delta just before qualifying ended and I didn't finish that lap, but I decided to race rather than spend more time on qualifying. A decision I would live to regret mind you.

But yeah, basically it was all ****. Got punted and rammed in every race so never finished above 10th in 4 races lol. In first race I was too new to the track and finished bottom half which was expected (at this point my quali time was 1:54 lol). Second race I had my new 1:43 time, but 4th place decided he was going to block and ram anyone that tried to pass him, so I got punted off track and spun when I made a beautiful overtake move on him. Second race, just more getting punted from behind - don't think it was malicious, just people don't leave space and get too much tunnel vision on the car ahead - ended up finishing bottom half again. Now dropped to C/S and podium start, when overtaking 2nd place on the inside he seemingly forgot to brake so used my car to slow himself down and punted me into the grass. Last race, another asshole got too impatient (I was waiting for a reasonable overtake spot because at this point I'm basically the fastest on the track) and rammed me off track.

So yeah, a complete failure. I do remember now when I played GT Sport that I would spend ages getting decent quali times so I started up front. Now I know why I did that lol. It kind of makes me respect how iRacing does qualifying right before the race because I swear a lot of these drivers fluked their good quali times and will hardly ever get those times consistently.

As a comparison, I probably had more contact/incidents in this one evening of racing on GT7 than I've had in the last 3 months of iRacing. Despite the racing etiquette video clearly stating this is a non-contact sport.

Also, I'm probably just whinging now, but how are controller players so fast? I see these dudes in front of me weaving all over the road cus they are clearly using a controller and giving crude inputs, yet they don't seem to lose much speed. Sure, I will catch up, but it seems too forgiving. I swear if you were driving like that in any other sim you'd lose heaps of time.

Society needs to be better. If we can eliminate workplace and school bullying, and if we stop walking by people without saying hello, thereby making a person feel invisible, maybe said person can go home and play cleanly and fairly without feeling the need to feel like a 'big man's.

Simple.

Choose the Alfa 155, go back to doing time trial until you set a low 1.42. You'll be wining races in no time. x

Human's gonna human I think. I mean, what can I really expect? It is a console AAA game. It is going to attract a very different audience compared to a subscription based PC sim that will ban you for intentionally malicious driving.

This bothers me a great deal. I will take a corner like a freakin' pro-star and the person in front of me goes sideways three times on his exit and somehow gains time on me.

Yup, I could probably get that in the GTR, so no doubt I could in the Alpha. But yeah, not sure I want to now. This was a bit of an experiment to see if I was just sort of having exagerrated "bad memories" of past racing in GT. Don't think I was. Will probably play some Battlefield for the week and return to iRacing when the new season starts next week. Excited to dive into some new racing series!

Haha, so true! It makes no sense. I actually noticed in learning this Kyoto track that it's better to keep your foot planted and let the car slide a bit through some corners, rather than to let off a tad and keep the grip. That will scrub speed in iRacing, but gains you speed in GT7 lol.

In the GR4 4WD cars it sometimes helps to 'lose' the rear as it helps rotation. I've 'lost' it a few times only to be pleasantly surprised to see my delta come down

What I'm talking about is a bit different, I think. If a wheel user were to have a sloppy exit like that, they'd likely bin it or have to slow down drastically to stabilize. But some controller users who are perhaps using a sensitivity higher than they should be, can just power out of it somehow, even though they just crossed the width of the track three times over.

In GT7 with GR4 4WD, late apex.....wait for car to grip then power out.

That's fine if you're in the braking phase of the corner coming up on the apex, but people are sliding on exit and seemingly not losing speed (or not losing as much speed as they probably should).

Gotcha. Sliding on exit shouldn't gain you time.

Yeah. To be clear, I don't think they are gaining time, rather they aren't losing anywhere near as much time as you'd expect. I have my suspicions that controller players are getting some sort of hidden assist that helps even them out with wheel users, but that's complete speculation on my part. I still believe you can be faster on a wheel despite that though.

I tried a few cars tonight on Race B, I can do 42.2 - 42.3 in the Alfa 155, GTR & SLS. But I cant beat the 41.9 in the F458.

No good races today as I'm back in A/S and kept starting at the back in A+ & A mixed races with a few dive bombers.

This dude did not accept my post-race apology. I don't really think I did anything wrong, but wanted to keep the peace.
Feel free to tell me what you think, but I think if you move down off the racing line to block in a braking zone, you're playing with fire.
I see it all the time. People will move right in front of you, when everyone should know it's time for hard braking.

***By the way, the SLS can whip the WRX. :D

Totally his fault. I used to do this stuff when I first started. It didn't take long to realize that it's disruptive and pointless.
