Race A is an absolute boatload of fun. Windmills might be in my top 5 favourite tracks in the game, love when it shows up.

Has anyone tried B yet? I did a couple of laps this morning before going to work (didn't even realise tuning was enabled!)
I had one race this morning Q8 to P4, the Nissan seems to be meta at least for now due to pure top end speed. I ran my trusty Hyundai N2025 and found myself quicker in the corners and able to overtake some cars including the Nissan. Looks like a good race for this week imo.

First off, congrats on the podium!!👍

IMHO, this is a prime example of why the way they build lobbies is just fine. You showed-up and felt you wouldn't be competitive yet finished third. There's a reason that can happen at all. It comes down to matching drivers based on more than just the simple B/S -vs- C/S moniker.

There's a huge talent spread from the bottom of a rank to the top of it. This isn't true when you're at the crossover point, though, so the further up your rank you go, the more you start to see the next level up in your races. The points system in the background is the 'magic' that makes it work about as good as any system is going to. Those points (that we don't see) define a lot of things about a driver, from pace to consistency.

Again, Op Ed...😁

Except when they do mixed DR lobbies they match people with a high DR at one level with those in the next level up who have a low SR. So a C/S driver ends up in a lobby with B/B drivers or even B/C drivers!

Now this may be because low SR often equates with low DR so the unsafe B/C driver has a lower DR than most B/S drivers. But I think it would be better if they grouped mixed lobbies by SR even if there’s more of a gap in skill and pace. Much better to race with safe drivers imho!

Will likely pass on Race A, as dirt's not my thing. Weird combination for Races B and C.

Race A: NSX Gr.B Rally Car - 1:24.171 Maybe I'll do a pad lap later.

Race B: Hyundai N 2025 VGT (Gr.1) with default settings - 0:59.585 Not sure if I should be allowed on a track with normal human people on this track with something this fast. 😶

Race C: NSX Gr.3 - 3:41.654 Maxxing out at 180mph, and it takes forever to get there. Might try this later in the week. So... I'm boned without the slipstream, and bump drafting murders my SR? Nice. 😅

FFB problem in general since the physics change. Car dependant issue, nothing you can do to fix it that isn't just neutering the wheel entirely.
Ah man that sucks, I haven't noticed it this bad before, and I agree I tried with turning the FFB down to next to nothing but then any fidelity is absolutely impossible without the resistance.

Thanks for explaining :(

Yeah I think it's worse with the R92CP which is fantastic considering the meta car is the R92CP. I don't know how they didn't notice it in their own testing to be honest?

You are probably right on that.

This week is a bit meh both race wise and TT wise, usually I can settle on something for the week but this week there isn't a lot grabbing me.

You would have imagined someone would have piped up and said "is it normal that I've lost all my fillings driving this car and have carpal tunnel syndrome now?"

The mind boggles sometimes with PD.

Edit:

Just done 2 daily Bs and apart from the god awful wheel oscillation the racing is a horror show. Not deliberately but the nature of the cars.

I am absolutely out this week sadly, no no no not for me.

I tried one at lunch and I have to say, I won’t be doing that one all week that’s for sure.

Not sure 5 laps Le Mans interests me either, they seem to have over done things last week and now we are left with some rallying, which is a good track if I remember from the drift trophy for the plat.

Did see @Barney Da Dog hit a .57.xxx 😵‍💫 in B

A week for getting the menus done and cars collected

Race A: I hate dirt so I'll pass.

Race B: I like qualifying at HSR but racing should be hectic. But going to try at least once. If people are going meta mostly than it's perhaps less chaotic than in Tidg's video?

Race C: Probably shameful to admit but I dont know the circuit at all. Should be s great chance to get to know it, but I dont like killing SR for bumpdrafting. Do you stand any chance of you don't do it?

The cars are so twitchy and the margins sooo small, especially if you have a grid that has done extremes (SIC) the speed differential is big even with the meta car.

It's chaotic in my A/S lobbies no where near top split stuff.

Well, it's a good thing there's a holiday this week in the US, because I plan on spamming Race B to death. This is probably going to be the closest we get to real oval racing (not the braindead 100% throttle nonsense at Route X or Daytona Superspeedway) sine PD doesn't want to use BMB Superspeedway or Northern Isle (though it appears the person who picks the Dailies has finally woken up from their coma, so who knows - maybe we'll finally get some races with those).

Also, it's about time we got to race actual HIGH SPEED cars at the High Speed Ring. The fact that we've never had anything faster than Gr.4 at HSR in Sport Mode races before this point is ridiculous.

My video on the ddx thread was with a 330. While things are mitigated a bit, its still like surfing a busted washing machine.

Kinda feels as if we need to flood the zone with jiggle ride videos to get pd to do something.

This might end-up the question of the day. Given what @jrbabbitt experienced -vs- what we've come to expect as the norm. It WAS perfectly fine to bump within reason. Obviously, causing damage is ramming territory. Hope this isn't a test week where we/they find-out they may have those parameters a bit tight.🤣

@Chris30 it's a great time out there and I'm hoping you get to rejoin us again soon. I know you had mentioned Black Friday sales but never count out places like Craigslist. Keep a vigilant eye-out for a deal in there if you can, too. I've seen PS5 digitals editions for less than $300 and PS4Pros for less than $200. Obviously this is region-specific but maybe you can find something.

Off Topic Moment
Speaking of Craigslist, quick question for the local Saab guru... @TechnoIsLove - looking for cheap cars I found an '07 Aero convertible with the turbo six. Are these in the 'run away' or 'patience required' category? Can't say I've ever seen a 'vert w/the boosted 6 for sale. $3,900 is hard to look away from, lol.
Actually the 07 is a facelift, which saw a few updates to niggling things so all good. The convertible roof motor and scissors can be a bit annoying if they start to give problems, so just take a look at service history to make sure it was cared for and have him open and close the roof.

One blessed thing you have over me is you're in the US, whilst my specific model is the only one on the island so I have so source every part from abroad, at a premium but the market there is actually quite good and lots of parts (original) available. Also, there are quite a few good FB forums and people actually help each other when posting questions or issues. Not sure I can post here, including the best source for parts so will send you a PM now with some links ;)

Finally, haggle - the prices in US for Saabs are way below what they cost here in Europe so try and get it for less, unless it is a spotless car :)

Hahaha I did a race B and the speed/downforce differences are indeed crazy. The field got more spread out though than in a top lobby so it was actually driveable. P10 - P16 was 6 seconds difference in quali time. Drove from P3 to P3.

edit: Wow I just did another one. Started from pole in a full B / S lobby, Finished P1, fastest lap, clean race everything. This is only my sixth GT7 sport mode victory ever. Nice. P2 could follow me. He ran a higher downforce setup I think. Came closer in the corners (even bumped me twice in lap 1), but I pulled away from him everytime from the tunnel onwards. After lap 1 he didn't have a useful slipstream anymore. He finished 2.5 seconds behind. The rest of the pack was miles off. Everyone exept one person drove the Nissan btw.

It was horrendous! I've gone to 4 on the FFB, but it's still very apparent if I loosen my grip.

It took me several races before I discovered tuning was available - couldn't understand how everyone was so quick on the straights!

I've got no setup skills, so I just put in some values that looked familiar to Gr3 setups
8/8
20/22
50/48
3.50/3.60
15
50
15

650/1140 on the downforce - though I'm losing a little on the straights in races

Had BB at to the back, but losing the rear occasionally under heavy braking.

Race C: Probably shameful to admit but I dont know the circuit at all. Should be s great chance to get to know it, but I dont like killing SR for bumpdrafting. Do you stand any chance of you don't do it?
The final sector is probably the hardest to get to grips with, lots of longish straights on the rest of it.

I didn't bump draft, and got clean race bonus on my first two races, finished fifth in the first, and second in the second one - at the end of race two I was one of only two drivers without an SR down!

The third race I didn't bump draft either, didn't have contact with any other cars, no penalties nor off track moments - SR down at the end 🤔 (using the Genesis by the way, which seems to be very competitive)

Then decided to give Race A a quick try - got bashed around a lot by other cars, bounced off of walls, fences etc, finished with clean race bonus.....
