We get something like PT, a time trial where no one knows a thing or suspects that it's Gran Turismo until you get a gold trophy, then the GT logo shows up.

Nice

We haven't even seen or heard a glimpse of GT7 so we wouldn't know if it's drastically different. So much so that we wouldn't recognise it

That would certainly be something. I just think GT has a general feel and style that would make it instantly recognizable, so I would be blown away if they could fool us into thinking it was something else.

The 'Spring 2015' release date comes from an article here on GTPlanet that gave a bit more details on it.

Well, it's not exactly like PD has a stellar track record of holding their deadlines. Even the Senna content was a month late. Should have been out celebrating 20 years since his death and they missed it by almost a month. And that was a hard deadline, if there ever was one.

It also makes no sense to start the FIA Competition, if GT7 is nowhere on the road map. Because how long can you stretch the preliminary rounds on GT6?

The Senna Content was only a few days late due to licensing issues. And stretching the teases of the Senna Content with the slideshows and all that. If they released all the Senna Content on the 1st of May, then the 'celebration' of Senna would have only lasted a week at best. What they did was genius, dedicating an entire month to teasing the Senna content put both GT and Senna into the spotlight for a whole month, instead of a few days.

GT7 will be released before the end of 2016, barring any delays, Kaz himself has essentially denied the 2017 release date. How they will distribute the FIA events is up to the FIA and PD, I'd say one event every month or so could be possible. But this is PD we are talking about, they have thrown some pretty big curvrballs before.

I'm getting the impression that Gran Turismo Sport is a spinoff (until GT7 arrives) that will be like one of the following:

A casual racing game featuring only road cars and temporary street circuits or country routes. May or may not be open world. (Examples: Project Gotham Racing, DriveClub and Forza Horizon)

Or...

Much like a conventional Gran Turismo game with simulation physics but only with real permanent courses featuring only track-only/race cars from FIA championships. (Examples: GRID Autosport and Project CARS)

It's pretty common to use unofficial cover art for preorders that do not yet have official covers yet.

Exactly.

EDIT: Can you guys provide me with a link for that Russian leak that some of you are talking about? What's that all about?

I lend towards your second option. The FIA partnership was announced and it's being used for GT7 or GT Sports. Probably players will be able to build-up their stock Honda Civic and Muscle cars as a racecar to meet FIA approved racing series. There will be virtual championships, racing series etc etc all managed by FIA, Sony and PD. ...

or all stays the same....

At this point I'd welcome a 'prologue' for PS4. Maybe digital only, around $25 half a dozen tracks, three dozen cars. Full online, limited single player.

I see a lot of people talking about a GT6 announce at E3 :odd: (FIA or course maker)

Let's be honest :
- GT6 sales were poor (1/3 of GT5)
- The PS3 is ~9 years old
- The new gen is ~2 years old
- GT6 is ~2 years old
How many people still play GT6 ? How many people could be concerned by a news about GT6 ? (I mean there is just us)

Imagine this :
-PD : "Hey guys, we have some exciting news, we have a cool FIA championship and course maker available on... GT6 !"
-JOURNALISTS : "GT what ?"
-PD : "GT... 6, on PS3... you know the 9 years old console ?"
-JOURNALISTS : ":odd::odd::odd::odd:"

It makes absolutely no sense. Not to mention the fact that FIA and course maker are REALLY specific, it means nothing for the majority of players.

So the vast majority of players need not bother? Online is a minority sport mate.
