I picked up a PS5 Pro and now, I can play the two versions of GT7 back to back and, yes indeed, they are different.
The physics of the cars definitely changes. So, this goes a ways to explaining the difference in opinions.
Braking - WOW. I am a controller player. I had to turn off the trigger effects because I simply cannot drive with them on. The brake balance has a much more pronounced effect on PS5. On PS4, I used the Lambo for Race C (Catalunya, for future reference) and the BB set to -3. Using - 2 works as well. I set my QT on PS4 at 1:40.847. On PS5 though, I will consistently miss the apex with BB at - 2 or - 3. Using - 1 or 0 BB is the way to go. Still, I am lapping around 0.5 sec a lap slower. I could not get my PS5 lap under 1:41.3. A nornal PS4 lap (for me) during a race is 1:41.5-1:41.8. On PS5, I struggle to hit those times in practice. Could it be the controller? Sure, but I feel it's the game itself.
Bouncing - OH, THAT'S WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT. The cars has some bounce on PS4 but not like the PS5. PS5 is very bouncy, where I would say PS4 is moderately bouncy... Maybe. Yes, on PS5, some cars are near undriveable compared to their PS4 counterparts.
Tires - Tire behaviour changes. A few times I got myself into a pendulum effect with the street cars. With the GT3 Huracan, there is some extra slide on corner exit (not a braking issue).
Transmission - I noticed this testing the Huracan GT3 back and forth. On PS4, you can hold a gear slightly longer. At Catalunya T4 I usually enter the braking zone at the top end of 4th gear. On PS5, I need to shift or I will bounce off the rev limiter. The same goes for T8. On Ps4, I can hold 3rd from the exit of the T6-7 chcane until I exit T8. On PS5, I need to grab 4th gear in the short chute between T7 and T8.
So, altogether, the PS5 experience is not tremendously different in single player (aside from the extra boucing), but where every tenth counts, like Sport Mode, it is a game changer IMHO.
Anyone else feel the same? It's going to take me a few weeks to adjust to the differences.
