I picked up a PS5 Pro and now, I can play the two versions of GT7 back to back and, yes indeed, they are different.

The physics of the cars definitely changes. So, this goes a ways to explaining the difference in opinions.

Braking - WOW. I am a controller player. I had to turn off the trigger effects because I simply cannot drive with them on. The brake balance has a much more pronounced effect on PS5. On PS4, I used the Lambo for Race C (Catalunya, for future reference) and the BB set to -3. Using - 2 works as well. I set my QT on PS4 at 1:40.847. On PS5 though, I will consistently miss the apex with BB at - 2 or - 3. Using - 1 or 0 BB is the way to go. Still, I am lapping around 0.5 sec a lap slower. I could not get my PS5 lap under 1:41.3. A nornal PS4 lap (for me) during a race is 1:41.5-1:41.8. On PS5, I struggle to hit those times in practice. Could it be the controller? Sure, but I feel it's the game itself.

Bouncing - OH, THAT'S WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT. The cars has some bounce on PS4 but not like the PS5. PS5 is very bouncy, where I would say PS4 is moderately bouncy... Maybe. Yes, on PS5, some cars are near undriveable compared to their PS4 counterparts.

Tires - Tire behaviour changes. A few times I got myself into a pendulum effect with the street cars. With the GT3 Huracan, there is some extra slide on corner exit (not a braking issue).

Transmission - I noticed this testing the Huracan GT3 back and forth. On PS4, you can hold a gear slightly longer. At Catalunya T4 I usually enter the braking zone at the top end of 4th gear. On PS5, I need to shift or I will bounce off the rev limiter. The same goes for T8. On Ps4, I can hold 3rd from the exit of the T6-7 chcane until I exit T8. On PS5, I need to grab 4th gear in the short chute between T7 and T8.

So, altogether, the PS5 experience is not tremendously different in single player (aside from the extra boucing), but where every tenth counts, like Sport Mode, it is a game changer IMHO.

Anyone else feel the same? It's going to take me a few weeks to adjust to the differences.

More importantly, is if GT7 was on PC, the variation becomes huge and cheating is guaranteed. Having Gran Turismo on a single platform is the ideal, especially for those who want to ensure the online experience is the least likely to be ruined.

Took you long enough.
To buy a PS5? I have a PS4 Pro and there's no exclusive PS5 games that I cared about. There was no need before
More like he has no reason to act like a contrarian anymore when the evidence was in front of him the entire time.
Not a contrarian at all. The "evidence" doesn't exist on my system. The cars behave different and I wasn't the only one in disagreement. Maybe try it yourself first.

Will never happen. I've been hearing this rumor since GT1. Sony gets zero benefit (at the moment) from releasing GT on PC

Anyway, I did my first Sport Mode race this morning. The differences hold true there. The first obvious difference is that the opposition is a new group of people suggesting that Sport Mode races are matched based on console.

In the race, the same issues occurred. On PS4 I race with BB at -3 and I set consistent laps in the mid to high 1:41's. On PS5, BB is +1 and I am lapping in the low 1:42's. Try as I might, I just could not get to the 1:41's. I might with practice, but it's going to take some getting used to. The tire wear also feels different. As I said in the first post, the tires slide more in general, but with wear, it's even more pronounced. This week, I had never gotten a track limits penalty. In this morning's race, I got two.

Exiting the first chicane, that bounce is really pronounced on the Huracan. I think it does three hops before settling. On PS4, it's a slight oscillation that's barely worth noting.

I'll stick to the PS4 for Sport Mode until I can get my pace up on the PS5.

btw, Sophy is ok...I don't see what the fuss was all about. Seems like the regular AI has been dumbed down to make Sophy seem better. Same with the emojis. I think if the Emoji's were removed, no one would notice the difference. If it is markedly better, it seems like a missed opportunity not having the option in custom races.

Comparison of car behavior. Here's the Charger around Goodwood. It's touch to see the difference in the video. It's more of an experience. Still, you can see the difference in stability between the PS4 and PS5 versions

First up, PS4. Fully stock car. CS tires. I set this lap right out of the box. One attempt and that's it. Rock solid

And here's the PS5 version. Exact same car and set up. It took me a few laps to get to this. You can see the car snapping.

So, ya, there's a difference.

Agree re sophy. Maybe better drivers appreciate it more, than mid drivers like me.

But no real perceptible difference imo. I use sophy all the time on nords and spa, then race normal cpu on sardegna 800 and weekly races.

Overall race experience feels exactly the same to me. Apart from seemingly pointless, and therefore silly, emojis bleeping away.

Have a slight feeling they may be a little more aware of you. As in if I brske slightly later and bomb on inside of turns, they'll hold back more, rather than crash into yiu as they stick to their path on normal cpu. I don't know, maybe they do the same on those turns with normal cpu as well. Can't be bothered to check. It is what it is.

Always have it on Pro level.

I didnt play the trial run we had with Sophy much at all. But can recall hardest difficulty being much tougher, than Pro level we currently have... iirc.

I tried Sophy more last night. The big difference seems to be the cars that Sophy gets rather than the base AI. Sophy gets better/faster cars on the same difficulty setting, making Sophy look better. But does it actually do anything better? I don't know about that.

Update on my transition to PS5. I fiddled with as many setting as I could (including the TV) and I have my PS5 experience as technically reactive as my PS4 experience. In Sport Mode, I am still woefully slower, especially in the daily race. My best lap times are 0.5 - 0.7 second slower. On PS4, I usually set a fast lap in the low 1:41 range (1:41.1 to 141.3). On PS5, I am garbage. My best so far in the races is 1:41.7. I put in my WORST lap of the week at 1:43! On PS4 I have been at the low 1:42 and my worst.

So, basically, despite doing my best to get the PS5 as reactive as possible to improve my times, the differences in the cars' behavior is still a big barrier.
