I was expecting that Sony would lower the price after us early adopters bought in the 1st wave. Would be nice for the player base to grow.

I really wish they'd do that because with so few (I'm guessing because I don't know) units in circulation, there may not be much interest from developer to make their games compatible

I wasn't trying to suggest they couldn't field a grid of 16 drivers together for a live event - they could just use folks that qualified for the world tour event itself and do a Pro-Am with some YouTubers/Twitch folks - I was suggesting there isn't enough PSVR2 drivers in the GT 7 ecosystem to warrant a PSVR2 league.

That said, wasn't there talk about a league organized by someone on these boards at one point?

There are a few VR users that post regularly in the GTWS thread, and not a whole lot of people are active in that thread.

There are more of us than we think. Shame we can't get any hard stats.
Every time someone asks “who’s playing in VR?” pre-race in the daily’s, usually a handful of people respond. I never respond and I’m in VR, so I assume there’s others who do the same. I would wager 25% or more are playing in VR.

B/S and A/S lobbies for reference.

I just wished Sony lowered the price, or provided the ability to purchase replacement lenses. Despite being EXTREMELY careful, my lenses are riddled with scratches to the point it’s starting to affect the visual quality now. I’ve got probably 700 hours out of them, so I can’t complain too much….but I’m going to.

Do you have microfiber cloths to wipe your lenses with? I have two of them I keep in a ziploc bag and ensure they never touch anything but my recently washed hands and the lenses. I've got probably 1/4 of the time you do at most, but I can't recommend microfibers enough.

But I'd second that, lens only replacements would be awesome.

Oh yeah. I get a bi-monthly Amazon order of microfiber’s. I change them out every 2 weeks. Use a lens brush —-> lens wipe —-> microfiber. Store them in a baggie just like you. These lenses just seem to be super fragile. Inevitably, I’m going to have to pony up for a new headset. In that case, I’ll go get my eyes tested and order some hons lenses, weather I need corrective lenses or not

To that last point, I agree. I'd recommend even getting zero-correctivr lenses (I got mine from VR Optician) to protect the fragile headset lenses.

They just pop over the top of the headset lenses. Great protection and insurance.

Hons lenses, this is the first I've heard of them. They are protective lenses you put over the PSVR2 lenses?

EDIT: Just ordered a pair, since I had lasik a few years back, just ordered the 'Plano' ones. Thx for the tip, might save me from spending another $600 <3

Yes. I use prescription lenses from vr optician. Narrows your FOV slightly though due to the slightly increased distance from the lenses to your eyes.

These work the best for me..

edit- didn't mean to include link but they're around $7 and washable.

Very much this. I made one mistake and there’s this big plonk on the right lens. Ive buffed it down as much as possible but the question of doing without this thing for a month, or living with it, seems to always land on living with it.

Last March (can’t believe how quickly time goes) just a couple weeks after receiving my headset, I ordered non-prescription blue-light blocking lenses from vr-rock. The reason was two-fold. One, I felt like the experience was sometimes tiring on my eyes. It could be a BS placebo effect but I’ve never felt that way since getting them.

Two, despite being careful as well, I noticed a small scratch on one of my PSVR2 lenses one day while gently cleaning them with a micro-fiber. No idea how it came to be.

So it was a no-brainer to me to buy some aftermarket lenses to snap on over the stock lenses. They were $79 shipped after applying some random YouTube streamer’s discount code. Not cheap, per se, but I could see where it was headed if I didn’t find a way to protect the stock lenses. I have neither the time nor inclination to worry about always covering my headset or wiping the lenses perfectly before and after each use. I’ve had zero issues since then and it’s nearly a year later. I don’t even think about it anymore.

These vr-rock lenses probably have some minor scratches in them but none I notice or that remotely affect my experience while playing anything. And if I ever do, well, getting a new set is far preferable and easy versus having effed up lenses on my actual headset and what it will take to rectify. So my word of advice to anyone with this headset is to do what I did, prescription or not. In the big picture, it’s a few bucks to avoid potentially (and easily) bigger headaches.

Was going to comment about a similar thing. I ordered from VR wave and my lense attachments are Prescription with blue light blockers. I was worried the blue tint would be noticeable but it is not at all. They cost me $128 shipped. But well worth it and I have zero scratches. I also purchased a wall mount and I have covers to put over the lenses when not in use. I'm guessing the scratches came from using glasses in the headset. Much better option to get prescription lenses. I know that extra cost sucks but it's way better than waiting for them to drop the price to $400-450 and then buying a whole new headset. Another accessory that I think is a must buy is the cable management system from VR-wire. Drastically enhances your mobility and longevity of your wire.

I really love to play gt7 in vr and it’s the only way i play but i think it’s ridiculous that almost one year since launch we haven’t got a proper button to recenter driver view without opening the pause menu …..
Um you just hold down the options button, you don't need to pause

Maybe we could create an VR team to add to our name? To visualize a bit more the VR users. Some people are adding VR to their names already. Like VR_nickname, PSVR_nickname, or any other cooler combination. It could also carry a compromise with racing etiquette.
I have "VR" on my in game nickname (SupaflyVR) for two reasons: exposure for the tech and a convenient excuse for me not seeing someone in my blind spot.

@Kriptical @Yard_Sale @Pfei @Revengel
I did this when I started to race in sport mode with VR (Im Childe PSVRoland now ;)) basically to let them know that I was making my first steps as some sort of apollogy in advance against possible mistakes.
Finally and after some months of intense VR racing I feel more confident now on VR that I was on a flat screen but decided to let the nickname like that.

I have the rear of my car emblazoned with a "VR2 driver" sign. A target on the back, perhaps? ;-)

Had to shake my head while driving the TVR. Could damn near smell the leather and feel the metal bits in that car. PD are too sick with the detailing.
You can tell exactly which cars were just carryovers from GTS and the original PSVR, and which interiors were made from scratch specifically for PS5 and PSVR2. Some of the cars are absolutely stunning with their interior textures and detail. The Hi-Medic van and Porsche 917 are some of my favorites

The 917K is mindblowing. If there was just one car in GT7 VR2, and this was it, I'd still be a happy camper.

Just here to bookmark and race with other VR players. Only way I play now. Mostly online race in paddock mode at Laguna Seca and Suzuka Circuit.

Hope they pay more attention to VR in future updates and improve pop-in and framerate, reduce floating out of position in showroom cockpit view and ghosting during VR replays

PSN: since80three-

Doubt it. It should’ve happened already if it was ever going to.

It’s too good not to improve on it tho. Not on these boards much, but I would hope a final big update that would add Sophy and Paddocks to all tracks. If no VR update within that, then that’s when I’d say it’s done.

It’s insane to me that GT7 on PSVR2 is the best gaming experience I’ve ever had, and also I may never buy a Sony VR product or game ever again.

Absolute bag fumble on no GT7 VR updates and no commitment by software studios on making games that are more than “baby’s first vr funhouse”. A quest is half the price of a ps5+psvr2, you can play 95% of the same games, and there are no wires.

All they had to do was at a bare minimum pay attention to their flagship partner game and maybe give it a single QOL patch in an entire year. Why would someone who doesn’t already own a headset buy one now when they’ve seen the hardware already be orphaned?

Companies keep asking consumers to gamble on their hardware without making an equal gamble on software to hold up their end of the bargain. It’s so stupid, especially in this economy.

I do wonder if PSVR2 will be supported on a PS5 Pro or PS6 or whatever. I can imagine 90hz without reprojection and upgraded visuals such as real time raytracing on this exact same headset looking much better than GT7 PSVR2 on current PS5 hardware. Just having higher resolution and looking more like GT7 4K HDR on a flat screen would be cool. I'm not talking about the screen resolution, but the render resolution before software anti-aliasing and all the little tricks and compromises needed to get the game running in VR now. I think there's more potential here.

But yeah I never try to understand Sony / PD decisions anymore, it's not worth the mental bandwidth, because sometimes it makes absolutely zero sense. Like where's my delta times in time trials? Where's the rest of the hud in a race? Where's the special PSVR2 GT7 interface? Where's the special PSVR2 races in game? Maybe there could be special online PSVR2 only races, and stuff like that? After all we plonked down a bunch of cash for this, reward us a little bit. There's so much more they could do, it makes no sense to me. But I'm still happy with it and glad it exists at all I guess.
