Last March (can’t believe how quickly time goes) just a couple weeks after receiving my headset, I ordered non-prescription blue-light blocking lenses from vr-rock. The reason was two-fold. One, I felt like the experience was sometimes tiring on my eyes. It could be a BS placebo effect but I’ve never felt that way since getting them.
Two, despite being careful as well, I noticed a small scratch on one of my PSVR2 lenses one day while gently cleaning them with a micro-fiber. No idea how it came to be.
So it was a no-brainer to me to buy some aftermarket lenses to snap on over the stock lenses. They were $79 shipped after applying some random YouTube streamer’s discount code. Not cheap, per se, but I could see where it was headed if I didn’t find a way to protect the stock lenses. I have neither the time nor inclination to worry about always covering my headset or wiping the lenses perfectly before and after each use. I’ve had zero issues since then and it’s nearly a year later. I don’t even think about it anymore.
These vr-rock lenses probably have some minor scratches in them but none I notice or that remotely affect my experience while playing anything. And if I ever do, well, getting a new set is far preferable and easy versus having effed up lenses on my actual headset and what it will take to rectify. So my word of advice to anyone with this headset is to do what I did, prescription or not. In the big picture, it’s a few bucks to avoid potentially (and easily) bigger headaches.
