GT7 & PSVR2

Hi guys. Sorry to ask this question here. I admit I'm in a very grim mood.
I was playing GT7 2 days ago. Quit the game, turned off the headset, and now when I plug it on again I get this message.
I've connected it on 2 pcs and Windows recognises some device is connected but the port can't give enough power.
Already unplugged and plugged again the headset portion of the cable and no luck. No red light on the headset either.
Since I play on my living room I have to disconnect it. I have been using it without problem since launch.

Any clues? The USB-C Port on the ps5 seems to work. At least charges controllers and phones.

I don't know what to do, apart from testing it on another ps5. And here they don't abound. Neither do warranty :(
Are you plugging it into a pro or an OG PS five? The pro has two USB-C‘s on the front but only the left one can drive the PSVR2. On the OG you only have the one option.

Other question is are you using an USB extension cord because it does not work with an extension cord.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. OG ps5 and plugged it as always to the usbC port on the front without any adapter or or extenders.

Have you tried rear ports? use a short USB3 to USBC?
AFAIK the only port with video output is the USB C

Are you using the Sony adaptor box to connect to PC?
I don't have it, that's why I mentioned that is was expected that it wouldn't work on PC, but in some way the fact that the PC detects the device makes me think that at least the cable could be ok. Wednesday I can go to a friend's house and test his ps5 (he also has psvr2).

I have a 6' extension cable hooked up to bottom front USB on the Pro and it works fine just like it did on OG PS5. Hooked it up yesterday, working no problem.

After a few hours playing I definitely think things are sharper overall and run smoother on the Pro in VR. It's especially noticeable on text and finer details, and those scenes the game plays of the race tracks before a race, they look like they're playing at a higher resolution than before. It might be hard to notice in recorded vids because they have a lot of compression and are recorded at 1080p, and are zoomed in more than what you actually see in the goggles too.

It's hard to say exactly what has changed without doing back to back comparisons with frame-by-frame analysis but everything looks better, sharper, and feels smoother to me.

I saw someone on youtube throw up comparison screenshots of GT7 in VR on Pro and non-Pro and claimed there was "no difference". I could see sharper details on the dashboard of the car on the Pro in that same screenshot. I think some people just don't see the difference.

It definitely feels like it runs smoother too. I'm not sure if the actual frame-rate is overall better, it could be just better and more consistent individual frame-times. Who knows, but it's noticeable to me. I have less eye fatigue than before. And I'd like to see some comparison clips of the mirrors, they seem to be higher resolution and/or have more detail in them like people were saying. Again, it's hard to be certain exactly what has improved without direct comparisons. I could make all those comparison vids, but it's really not worth the trouble since the game will be patched soon anyways. I'm probably going to sell my OG PS5 so I won't be able to do make comparison vids after the patch comes out.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming patches. It's already a noticeable all around improvement, but not a massive difference.

(on amazon) It's this cable if you're wondering:

Sorry, despite several of you have noticed some improvement even prior to any GT7 Pro patch, but color me skeptical....

I guess I will not believe it until I see it with my own eyes...

I have been grinding La Sarthe for thousands of miles since last Feb, so I feel confident I can detect the minute changes or improvement, if only I have a PS5 Pro to test it out for myself.

The things that stood out to me the most were the mirrors and the in-car HUD and finer details of things like the dashboard gauge fonts being sharper than I remember.
You don't notice any differences there?

You don't think it runs smoother under heavy load, such as Tokyo grind in the mist at the start of the race behind a bunch of cars?
On flat screen it's definitely smoother than OG PS5, none of those lost frames anymore. In VR it's the same, very smooth and consistent where before I noticed some chugging like on flat screen in those types of areas and scenarios.

It could be placebo and I'm well aware of that, so I'm not going to make any claims of fact but that's my impressions.
If I had to testify in court under penalty of perjury, I would say I notice an improvement. LOL

It would be nice if PD came out and clarified but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Actually, I do concede that with the extra oomph under the hood of the PS5Pro, I can very much accept to believe:

1) The reduction in pop up or pop out of features.
2) Mirrors reflection improvement
3) ability to run smoother under heavy load as you said.
4) HUD and interior details

What I am more reluctant to believe are the details very far down the road, close to the horizon when your eyes are looking way out and up ahead the road (in VR). I don't believe there can be any improvement due to the lens' hardware and spec...
I would very much welcome anyone to prove wrong, I only ask for it so that I could justify eventually upgrading to the Pro, until then I will wait. (personal choice not to keep up with the Jones yet)

Crossing fingers with get a patch and there would be more goodies for those with Pro and/or even those with VR on OG PS5...

I've tried multiple times but I get immediate discomfort on the very first turn using PSVR2, and it's due to the 60fps framerate because I tried Asetto Corsa on my PC using the PCVR adapter with a legit 120fps, and almost all like 90% of my discomfort disappeared.

I was on the verge of selling the headset, buuuuut here I am right now sitting next to my newly bought PS5 PRO just hoping the 1.53 patch bumps things up to 120fps.

Yeah not sure about distant objects like that. I didn't notice any difference there and there's still LOD pop-in like before.

I thought you had a Pro already.. so I thought you were saying you tried it and didn't see any difference. In videos you see, it's not what we see in the goggles though. It's definitely cropped a bunch and only the left eye view, and only 1080p, and also has compression artifacts- so I'm not sure it would be easy to spot small differences in sharpness of text or distant details unless they are obviously popping into or out of view at different rates.

I guess it's all academic since there's a patch coming.
I have all the stuff to make a comparison video between Pro and non-Pro but it would be time consuming and not have much value. Let's just hope there's a good patch for it so the differences are more obvious.
