So I wanted to play online without losing my 8 hours of progress, I decided to test the game's ability to load my character the best thing to do would be to start a new character on an alternate account, turn the PS3 off and on again and see if the character loaded. He did, so I thought my primary account would also work; it didn't, and now Social Club is showing no progress on anything, though it does show the $120k I've earned and the $70 I've spent.

8 hours gone. That's annoying. When will this be fixed? Will it ever? What if we all put in hundreds of hours and then one day they have a server outage and we all get reset? That'll be fun.

Is there another way to join crew members rather than join randomly?

The only ways to join them besides randomly are:
1) They invite you to a job or session
2) You join them via the Friends section of the Pause Menu

Check the Rockstar Social Club to ee if your character is there or not.

I'm rank 17 now. With an apartment and two modified cars. If I lose my character I'm not playing online anymore. I've had him about 3-4 days now, after losing about 6 people in 2 days.

Oh and if you shower with a mic you can sing for extra RP!

My character is gone. Where do you go on Rockstar Social Club to see if your character is there?
Edit: Never mind, found it. My character is not shown, but yet his total money earned and stuff are there. Is it a Cloud server issue?

My character is gone in-game but on Social Club it's there. Now this IS strange. I think it's the servers playing up again, I'm gonna wait a while. I hope my character hasn't disappeared again because I literally will not play again.

I'm about to jump into the same boat as you my friend. This will be the 4th character I've lost. Rockstar should release a free GTA$ package as an apology to those who have lost their characters.

I got a message saying that the 'cloud servers were down' and that if I continued it wouldn't save anything to do with my character.

So I assume when it's back up characters will be back, right?

On the social club page it mentions something about getting a free two car garage for signing into Social Club.

Also...has anyone gotten the achievement/trophy for completing the tutorial?

I agree 100% with you. I had just purchased a 6-car garage containing all sorts of nice cars, even an F620 (surprised you can store this). I've got my fingers crossed in hopes that I didn't lose my character. If I did, I'm not touching the game for a while.

Wow I thought the F620 would be a premium car!
Anyways yeah me too. I'll leave the game for a week or two before I play again and let the servers settle down in case I face disappoint once more.

About the F620, the only way I found you could store it was because Simeon requested for one in his vehicle repo missions, which require LS Customs. After doing that, I found another, drove to my garage just north of Sandy Shores, and I could store it! I was happy...until...this whole Cloud server debacle started today.

Good news! The server's are back and so is my character...
The only bad news is I have a mandatory mission to do before I can play with the GTP crew ugh. And I did it before but the servers obviously rolled me back to it :/

I lost my character too, I hoped it was just a problem with the cloud, but no, I was able to go online without getting the "Rockstar servers are currently unavailable right now" message.

Suffice to say, I think GTA V is no longer an unputdownable game.

Seems I have been lucky, had my character since day 1 and not lost him. Currently Rank 15 (Nearly 16) earned around 240k and own a nice enough house with 6 car garage.

Edit: Checked it and it says I earned 260k and just sold another of my "Cash cows" from my garage. (Range rover for 9k)
