I recently spent a couple of days on a relaxing boat trip along the west coast. Here are some of the photos I just got back from the pharmacy.
Filling the cooler at the local mart in the early morning.
Launching nearby in Malibu around breakfast time.
Powering north in the morning, I made it up to Big Sur and the Bixby Creek Bridge.
Drifting south and entering Mugu Lagoon in Ventura County.
Lingering nearby I come upon a young hippie group who entertain the senses.
Made a stop upriver at the Stanislaus Covered Bridge for an opportunity to relax.
The scene was so relaxing that much time escaped enjoying the sights and sounds in the moonshadow.
The night's libations.
Making my way up the river, I stopped at the North Shore Yacht Club building for a glimpse into the heyday of the Salton Sea.
The darkness of the open water really highlights the light pollution from the small town of Bombay Beach.
Heading back to the sea in the night, I come across some friendly campers who offer me refuge from the loneliness off the night.
Meeting a lovely woman my age made great company for my nightcap.
Conversation was such that she kept me stimulated til dawn lightening the load on the cooler.
Dawn didn't sneak up on the fishermen, ready to capture a tasty breakfast. Far removed from the Ham Slam Biscuit and Sausage Shingle found downtown.
Watching the Sun finish rising on the second day of my trip.
I spent much of the day in the canyon. Here I am below the Stoney Creek Bridge enhancing my visual stimualtion.
Drifting downstream at nature's pace.
Stopping off at Mugu Rock to trade vices with the local youths to enjoy on my last day on the water.
Beautiful weather, but the high temperatures sent me offshore for some cool air to enjoy my bartered goods. Looking back towards Ventura and Northward before heading in for disembarkation.
Pulling the boat after debarking; I took the opportunity to snap this polaroid.
After pounding a few, I finally got the motivation to haul the boat.
Heading off until the next weekend I can escape from the desk; I see an old man taking in the evening upon his sailboat and think about how many stories he must have to tell.
Spend some time on the water, it's a lovely change of pace.
