GTP Alternative Cool Wall Nomination Request Thread (Read OP) [NOMINATIONS CLOSED, see pages 10-11]

And the fact that they could potentially do something seriously uncool.

Also if they do something seriously uncool after voting had finished, I'm sure that the vast majority of people looking at the thread would realise the voting was done beforehand.

I decided that for sanities sake it was probably best if we avoided having living people nominated, and honestly anyone who's died particularly recently as well. Steve McQueen or Leonardo da Vinci both died sizeable periods of time ago (da Vinci far more so, McQueen would have been alive within many posters lifetimes, but even then, 34 years isn't exactly recent), and to discuss how cool they are now doesn't invade their privacy, and doesn't particularly risk anyone being sued for libel, either.

I'm guessing being dead 18 years is enough to not be recent, right? I have an idea of who to nominate once my current has been polled.

18 years would probably be enough, although really it depends who they are. Someone who killed themselves is unlikely to ever become appropriate, for example. As stated in the OP, I reserve the right to judge whether or not a nomination is appropriate for the wall or not.

1991 Northrop Grumman YF-23 A
Type - Advanced Tactical Fighter/Stealth Air Superiority Fighter Prototype

The unsuccessful competitor to the YF-22. It was by far the more radical ATF prototype and supposedly outperformed the YF-22 in speed and stealth due to its advanced shape optimized for area ruling and ultra low radar reflectivity. It is also the last fighter produced by Northrop and Grumman. Like the YF-22, it was utterly superior to the then state of the art F-15C, reaching F-15 afterburer speeds without actually using its own after burner (supercruise).

Empty Weight - 29,000 lbs
Combat weight (estimated) - 50,000 lbs
Powerplant - PW YF119 low bypass turbofan (PAV-1) or GE YF120 variable cycle low bypass turbofan (PAV-2) producing ~ 50,000 lbf dry thrust combined and ~70,000 lbf wet thrust combined
Supercruise speed - Mach 1.5+
Maximum speed - Mach 1.8+
Radar Cross Section (estimated) - less than -20 dBSM

Is it allowed to nominate the (main) cool wall onto the cool wall, just for laughs?

You can, but considering the other things which have already been nominated, now might be a bit too soon, what with both this cool wall and the word cool itself already nominated.
