South Park is next, so nomination time it is. I'm doing something that's worthy to go into hell (or at least the styx).
Hangnails

Um...........it was nominated.
It was? Didn't know that. I checked the thread and didn't see any implication that it was. Or I failed a spot check. Never mind then. I suck.

Okay, I found the results thread. Can I try again?

Since Roger didn't put the hangnails on the nomination queue, I guess it's time to change my nomination.

I think he/she/I'm not sure but I probably know just forgot to update the OP. The wall has been moving pretty slowly lately.

Can I try again?

2010-present GTP vs. Wham!

planet.png

Body style: Competition/game
Engine: The main thread, the rest of these forums, anywhere really
Power: Some sort
Torque: Depends
Weight: Heavy emotions, I think
Transmission: Mainly through sound waves (The song anyway)
Drivetrain: Mid engine, all insanity drive
0-60: I'm not sure how many participants there are on average. But 60 seems possible.

Well, I guess you could get Whammed while driving. But I don't know if you would get driven insane. Though you could go insane while driving.

Description: A competition/game held from November to December on this very website annually since 2010, where participants try and avoid hearing the song Last Christmas by pop group Wham! before the New Year rolls around. Seems to get quite dramatic and crazy, among other adjectives. Though if you've participated before, you should already know how things go down in it. Apparently, it's based on a similar game on a German forum. That's what I've heard anyway.

Polls will continue at a supposedly consistent rate until the backlog is cleared.

Just to say that I've decided to put nominations on hiatus from New Year's Day onwards. If you want your nomination to definitely get polled at some point in the near future then get your nomination in by then. Once the backlog as of 00:00 GMT is cleared (nominations made after this time will not be counted) I may or may not reopen nominations and continue the polls, or it may go on hiatus, depending on how popular the polls are. At present most of them aren't popular enough for me to consider it worthwhile continuing, but I shall allow those who wish to make nominations some time to make them and time for those nominations to be polled, as I feel doing otherwise would be unfair on those who have made nominations or want to make them.

Note: Those who already have a nomination in the queue may make another between now and New Years.

Also, depending on response I will either raise the number of polls (excluding Christmas Specials) to two or three a week, keep them at three a fortnight, or lower them to one a week. I would be grateful for said feedback.

Finally, a reminder not to discuss the actual items being nominated (bar legibility discussion) before the actual poll. It's actually incredibly irritating for the curator to wade through. Thanks.

Anyway, I feel like sending something to hell, so...

1985-1995 New Coke/Coke II

New_Coke_%28advertisement%29.jpg

-Created by Coca-Cola Marketing VP Sergio Zyman, Coca-Cola President Brian Dyson.
-Intended purpose was to sweeten the drink and outsell Pepsi in young markets.
-Initially saw overwhelmingly positive taste test results.
-Pepsi's response after New Coke was released was to have a nationwide day off from work and declare victory in America's soft drink rivalry.
-Was officially released on April 23rd, 1985. Production of the old formula ends less than two weeks after the announcement of the new formula.
-Over 400,000 letters were sent to Coke's headquarters in Atlanta expressing anger toward the new formula.
-Coke hired a psychiatrist to listen in on complaint calls. He told Coke executives that the callers sounded as if they had lost a family member.
-Fidel Castro's response to New Coke was to call it a sign of American capitalist decadence.
-Pepsi recorded the largest sales growth its company's history in the year following the release.
-One Texan spent $1,000 on the old Coke before it went defunct.
-The old formula, Coke Classic was reintroduced in July of 1985 following a sales slump, and eventually outsold both New Coke and Pepsi by the end of the year.
-New Coke was slowly withdrawn from shelves in the mid-90's.

When something special happens, it seemingly happens when a nominee of mine gets voted. I mean, the Thanksgiving special happened when the Aston One-77 got voted in the regular Cool Wall.

Wow.

@wvmgmidget, if you wish to make a nomination, please do it in the same format as the other nominations. I recommend that you use @Slash or @Liquid's nominations earlier this page as examples. Not to demean the other nominations but they did particularly good jobs of formatting their posts. DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN THREAD. Please. It's just a nuisance when people do that.

@yabiggoose, same thing goes to you, all though I recommend that you nominate something that has not already effectively been nominated, not that I can stop you from nominating something very specifically slightly different to a previous nomination, but there is likely to be a lack of interest in such a nomination.

@Naveek Darkroom, yes, you can make another nomination. You have my permission.
