GTP Alternative Cool Wall Nomination Request Thread (Read OP) [NOMINATIONS CLOSED, see pages 10-11]

My new nomination:

Whose Line Is It Anyway? (1998 - 2007)
What was it: Whose Line Is It Anyway? was an improvisational comedy show. The original series (i.e the best) was hosted by Drew Carrey and featured the regular appearances of Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady, and Ryan Stiles. The 4th guest was often cycled between Brad Sherwood, Kathy Griffin, Chip Esten, and many more.

The original series was actually made in the UK, and ran from late the 80's to the late 90's (and was actually originally based off a BBC radio show). Colin and Ryan starred in the UK version first then moved to the US for Drew's version.

I completely forgot about the U.K version. I'll fix my nomination to show that it's the First American Series of the show.

@Custom878 and @NoobMan DS, it would be much appreciated if you could add more detail to your nominations, as they are currently not specific enough. They will be skipped if you do not comply with this request.

Since someone nominated Sealand at some point, let's have another country with almost exactly the same name:

Nomination: The S.A.S aka special air service.

Covert British military branch that needs no introduction, but if you're going to push for one I could get a Wiki up in a click or two...

Will do, watch this space.

The S.A.S - 1941-present.
Role - mainly air intrusion into conflict zones to carry out missions of high secrecy, importance and/or sensitivity.
Operations - quality over quantity, the SAS specialise in inhospitable terrain, varied weapon and vehicle operation and advance combat tactics with minimal personnel units.
Reputation - reputedly one of the toughest branches of military to be selected for in the entire world. Known for being super tough bastards and a high level of confidentiality.
Acknowledgement - Iranian embassy siege in London.
Moto - 'Who dares wins'
You know the rest.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging
T1t2PD.jpg

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging technique used primarily in medical settings to produce high quality images of the inside of the human body. MRI is based on the principles of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), a spectroscopic technique used by scientists to obtain microscopic chemical and physical information about molecules. It's basically a revolutionary way to see inside things and people without cutting them open.

Well then. Nomination time it is.

c.1600-present Symphony Orchestra

jersey-articleLarge.jpg

Orchestras started off in the Baroque era as small string groups with no more than 15 players. They have since evolved dramatically to encompass as many as 250 musicians playing as many as 30 different types of string, woodwind, brass, keyboard and percussion instruments. They form the backbone of Western music through their innumerable use in classical music, jazz, swing and big band music, pop, rock and film music.

Those which are likely to cause offence by being polled will not be allowed.

Heads up, this may not go through.

unless someone on GTPlanet is a member of Al-Qaeda.

Or maybe they had a loved one who was killed in 9/11 or any one of the many other terrorist attacks Al-Qaeda have committed...

Anyway, I already covered this when someone asked about nominating ISIS. The case is closed. Please choose another nomination, or don't make one at all.

Why would that even be nominated unless you wanted to try and stir crap up.

Because I wanted to nominate the least cool thing on the wall? I think it is you who is trying to "stir crap up" by accusing me of doing so.

Anyway...
