No music, no 'Thank You' speeches, no comedians, no cabaret . . . this party sucks.

To make it worse - it's now turned into a furniture factory.

🤬

Oh! Shuttup, George.

Oh! Shuttup, George.
At least this party won't be cliche and typical.

Cliche can be quite nice - unless it's assembling furniture.
I don't want to do something that has happened for the 10000th time but. Too Tedious

We need spice. Sure assembly furniture isn't exciting but it is a step in the right direction.

Well, I wanted to get ZZ Top as entertainment, but they won't return my calls. I'm not gonna complain about speeches as they usually are the same bog standard words. This event's full of amateur comedians, will that work?

I'm not making furniture, but I know the tables are cheap and where the steel chairs are kept. Anyone up for a Ball Room Brawl?

From the rumour I caught, Shem contracted the Top Gear folk to provide a show, but last I saw of them they were laying around drunken in some ditch.

Last years party did end up in the brawl. Or was that the year before last?

*hic.

Shem will be doing that at some point during or after the ceremony, so perhaps he wanted some company in his earthen bunker?

Most likely after. Wouldn't want to miss the entire party.

I hope you don't, too.

But now that you stuck your head in, let me grab you by the collar and wish you a very Happy New Year my friend.
I caught some pics on a quick browse through the 'Pics of me' thread - was lucky enough to catch you and your students hiking away into some woods. I'm amazed you find the time to come around and hang out at GTPlanet - it's guys like you that make this place home to me.
Real life is full of heroes - no surprises; desperate times need desperate measures - but to hang out as equals with one, even virtually, is a treat - a rubbing off of the concept that there is more to us than just chemical reactions in the brain.
So here's hoping 2016 will lead to many more adventures as you guide those young wonder-filled minds into the future.
My regards to the better half and your other beloveds, too- Happy New Year, Shem!

Very kind of you, mate. All the best to you and yours, too. 👍

Unfortunately my time of teaching the children has temporarily come to an end due to my relocation to London but I've been told a position will be made available for me at the same school on my return at the end of the year.

I don't think I could stay away from here if I wanted to. It's such a lively place full of humour and good people, funny stories and sometimes stories of sadness. This site, if it was a real place, would be a veritable paradise compared to many of the slums that other forums are.

Thanks, Shem!

You obviously are a great teacher - and that shouldn't go to waste; they would be wise to not only take you back but sweeten the pot to keep you firmly trapped.

Absolutely!
It's where I pitched a hat just after you joined (coincidently) and found many a kindred soul on a playground maintained with honesty and dedication to decent intercourse. I'm a member of other fora, too - some for over twenty years, some I haven't visited in many, many years - the internet is a smorgasboard of activity and for anyone with wide ranging interests and sufficient networking skills there is no dearth of places to comfortably roost - but finding a community that takes interest and cares about what goes on in each other's lives in a genuine way are few and far between.

Granted, sites like Facebook offer perfect havens for those who know how to build - you can build a worldful of friends that will keep you busy all day long - and many of them will even be real life friends you meet, relatives, other long lost or distant friends who care - I know many who live for their Facebook account - all virtual life is linked to it.

But GTPlanet has a distinct flavour.
It is about a circle. The wheel. We all rotate around that.
As wheel-lovers, everything connected, games, lifestyles, sports, music, movies, photography, collecting stuff, the politics we dissect, the markets and items that interest us goes back to the wheel. There's an advantage right there. We have one common bond to start out with.
GTPlanet is also eclectic in culture, creed, knowledge-base, gender, and pretty much every diversity you can think of while being bound by this common bond.

Add to that the wide range in ages - and we have a family - a large family, and judging from the comments in the GTP 2015 Thread - lots and lots of little families all doing their GTP thing.

Good time, and the perfect party, to raise a toast to @Jordan :D
This Bud's for you, Jordan. ;)
