GTP Cool Wall: 2002-2006 Pyeonghwa Hwiparam

I was going to go with uncool since I was going to say it doesn't move emotion, but it clearly does. So cool. Also, it's from the best Korea.

Plus, I'm told this is better and fast than anything those American swines have ever put out since they clearly don't understand engineering. Korean engineers are superior and even with a modest 84hp this car holds the track record around every Korean race track and was driving by the fearless leader. It also won car of the year and most Americans beg for this to be sold on their shores.

 This is exactly why the cool wall result system is very, very flawed. The vast majority voted SU, but because one guy wanted to spite everyone, it will now be virtually impossible for it to get to hell.

It's not the system that's flawed, it's the pushing of certain cars to achieve such an extreme result that's flawed. Everyone knows that some Chinese/Korean/former eastern-block white-goodsmobile is uncool. We don't require a cool wall to tell us that.

The cool wall shouldn't be about trying to state the obvious. Forcing a conclusion is bound to wind people up.

^^^ This. I enjoy the discussion about cars which are actually interesting, I learn a lot when so many people are chiming in about most of the cars that get nominated. But nominating something just to see if it can get into Hell? Please stop that, please.

Not to mention all the disgusting racism this thread has elicited. Don't care for that much, either.

I'd say attempting to game the system in the first place by placing car after car after car just to try and get something in a predetermined result is a much bigger flaw.

Please don't encourage further nominations like this by going on at length with how terrible they are... I may vote SZ just to keep this thing out of hell so people stop trying. I don't want to look at or know about something like this.
We need at least one car in each category!

We need at least one car in each category!
Why, precisely?

This trend of trying to force certain results - one you've taken part in on numerous occasions - is the main issue with the CW threads. People can vote how they'd like, the discussions are the interesting bits. I had no idea where the two cars I nominated would land, and really didn't care either: I was more curious what the community thought.

Get over it.

Or, more likely, so that they'll keep trying because they weren't successful this time round thanks to your protest vote...

Likely the case, but I still don't understand people so desperate to see a car fall into a particular result, especially Hell and McQueen's Garage, to the point of endlessly bleating on about how a car should be voted and where it should go.

Never said it was important, never even said I was upset. only stated a fact. The voting system is flawed because of things like that.

No, the voting system is not flawed. What's flawed is your expectation that an entire system that's worked for hundreds of previous polls be changed because a few folks didn't vote the way that you want them to in one poll. What's also flawed is your expectation that everyone else have the same opinion as you have on a car.

SVX
Hooray, another generic rebadge.

No, it's the Badge of Courage, Righteousness, and Fidelity which the other Korea craves, and the rest of the world pangs for. It's able to stand up for itself in battle, yet depend on nobody, even with the manufacturing assistance of Italy.

There's probably a framed photo of the People's Permanently Enduring Leadership hanging from the rear-view mirror.

But Chevrolet Corvette is easier to say than Pyeonghwa Hwiparam.

So the "ch" is pronounced "SH", the other "c" is pronounced like a "Kay", the "v" doesn't exist in CJK languages, the "let" in the first word sounds like "LAY", the awkward letter combination of "vr" is rarely encountered in English, and the final "te" is silent...

This car doesn't stir much emotion. It's just a bland commuter car that just happens to be made in North Korea.

It's made in North Korea so nobody's ever heard about it, nobody will ever see, and nobody needs to worry about it sitting in the driveway next door depressing property values.

Not like a Daewoo Lacetti... which you might possibly have the displeasure of actually seeing anywhere in the world.

Except maybe North Korea.

Meh.

And how hard is it, really, to say Pee Ong Hwah Huh Wee Pah Ram?

I can't wait until there is a car made by a firm from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. That'll teach you.

Lanfairplgwengegilgogerychewyrondroblantisillyogogogoch. How close am I?

Where in the blue hell did I say he should have the same opinion as me? He said he voted SZ...

just to keep this thing out of hell so people stop trying.

That's not voting using your opinion. That won't even work, because now it won't get to hell, and someone else is going to nominate some other crappy and obscure Asian econobox that no-one wants to see, so he can vote SZ again, and repeat the process.

So yeah, that worked really well.

But, before this goes out of hand here, I'll just say this: The cool wall should go by majority vote, plain and simple. None of the "Halo" categories, just SZ, Cool, Meh, Uncool, and Seriously Uncool. Post the number of votes in each category if you like, to show how much better one SZ car did than the other. That would fix things like people trying to get one in each extremity, because there will be plenty in each.

I won't respond to anything else posted in this thread.

"Pyeonghwa Hwiparam"

Seriously uncool

How in the 🤬 do you even say that.

Lanfairplgwengegilgogerychewyrondroblantisillyogogogoch. How close am I?

Uh... yeah. I can't tell how well you pronounce that via textual stimuli.

However, as anyone who doesn't speak Welsh would try to pronounce it: you're wrong. You just are.

I'll give it a meh. As others have pointed out, this isn't really any different to rebadged variants of old cars that are still sold globally, aside from being produced in the Internet's whipping boy that is North Korea. It's just a car. The only thing I can think that'd drop it down is if North Korea bigged up the specs of this thing which doesn't appear to be the case.

aside from being produced in the Internet's whipping boy that is North Korea

Precisely.

Basing a cool vote off of the opinions of a bunch of half-wit meme-herders is the exact wrong way to do it.
