Incredibly uncool. Pointless, stupid and it looks tacky as hell to begin with. The body kit looks like the ones we installed in the SUV of Underground 2.

Nothing screams "I'm compensating for a tiny pee-pee" quite as loudly as one of these. The interior is just terrible, too.

I think it's awesome and I'd love to drive one. Incidentally that's also why it's seriously uncool.

This, although I vastly prefer the current model. This one has always been the ugly duckling of the GC line.

Echoing the sentiment that it's entertaining that so many see "pointless" is bad in this case, but equally pointless sports cars or hypercars get the nod. I mean, this is a very uncool vehicle, but not simply because it's pointless.

But as you know, practicality is the true measure of how cool something is.

That's why cargo shorts and running shoes are the coolest clothes out there, and the Toyota Camry is the coolest car there is.

Can you explain that thought process to me, please? I've never understood why so many people assume other people buy specific cars based on the size of their penis.

Figure of speech. Jeep drivers in the UK - and I'm sure there are exceptions, but based on my experiences I'm yet to meet any - are among the most arrogant, aggressive and incompetent drivers on the road. I'm sure some of them might be generously endowed, but the over-exaggerated masculinity smacks of insecurity.

I always find it funny when people vote either SZ or SU based off of pure stereotypes considering that some of the stereotypes can be directed at vehicles some members traditionally vote highly. Using the compensating as a result of arrogance = automatic SU logic, should I automatically SU every BMW I see here from this point out because BMW drivers around here are the most arrogant people around and worst drivers I've ever met?

Toyota Camry is the coolest car there is.

2.2 Camry = automatic SZ; all other car are automatic SU.

I've owned two BMWs. They were both great cars, but I'd never suggest that either of them were cool, so I wouldn't begrudge you if you came to that conclusion.

Rightly or wrongly, if you perceive every car of a certain type to be driven by an utter moron, it's quite plausible that those people will have a negative impact on your opinion of it. Let's be honest, that's a big reason why modern supercars generally get so many uncool votes.

It's why I never leave the house without my fanny pack.

Parents owned one from 2008-2011. Fun car to ride in, unfortunately you can not drive that fast because the speed limits are so low in Jersey. It was fun, but nothing beats the thrill and pleasure then driving a 1987 Dodge Aries K Car.

That's like asking, why we have cameras and internet available in mobile phones. You can take a picture with a real camera, call and send texts with an older mobile phone and go to internet on a computer, but people still buy devices that do all badly instead of three rather expensive devices separately.
Not to correct you, but my phone does two of those things better then whats possible with the other option(the Camera obviously isn't the point im talking about).

I really wish crap like this would die.

I simply don't believe you have the sample size to truly believe this. Pop culture made this asinine stereotype a thing and now people latch on with a confirmation bias. It's not productive for anyone remotely interested in car culture.

I am aware of this. If you'd read my next post...

...Then I went on to discuss that I'm hardly the only one who uses such reasoning to influence my vote:
Let's be honest, that's a big reason why modern supercars generally get so many uncool votes.
..And you could also suggest anyone who has a problem with the likes of a Prius - and the whole "eco culture" that surrounds it - could be accused of exactly the same. In fact, I noticed that you voted cool for the Prius. Your reason?
Zenith
It's seen as a car for responsible, realistic people who probably have other hobbies besides cars such as standing on sidewalks and asking people to give money to Greenpeace.

In other words, you've used the same "asinine stereotype" and "confirmation bias" to influence your vote, only in a positive direction.

...And then we could go on to your opinion of the Toyota Sports 800:
Driving this car would make you look extremely homosexual, but not in the obnoxious Beetle way.
So you go on to complain about "Pop culture" yet you make a sweeping statement about how a car can make you look gay? Do you have enough of a sample of gay people that drive the Toyota Sports 800? That, in principle, is exactly the same as discussing penis size in a cool wall debate. Yes, you've voted cool again, yet you've still allowed the same influence (positively or negatively - it doesn't matter) to enter your thought process.

I've only scrutinised two opinions out of many that you've written. Maybe that isn't a large enough sample size to truly believe all of your decisions are filled with the same hypocrisy, but it's a pretty good start...

Perhaps you should analyse your own opinions a little more closely before you lay into one of mine.

That must be very, very good phone you're talking about, if it's better for surfing on the internet than something with over 7 times larger screen, a key board and an option for a physical mouse.

Well yes because 4G > Australian internet

Also I can surf the internet in 1000+ ways not possible with a desktop computer or even a laptop.

The car of choice for gangsta soccer moms and other people who can be described entirely using fictitious words.

Since when...?

Anyways back in 09 I got to ride in one for a test drive, I will say it was one of the fastest things I've ridden in for that size and weight and overall fast in general. However, you wouldn't take it off roading, as jeep is known for nor would you do any other adventures in your jeep.

You know this kind of thing is best left to the guys that use to do it for performance car shows or in the 80s when they had Cyclones and Typhoons and what not. But now what is the reason of a high performance SUV, it's a few steps under that of the meaningless high performance Sedan. Both are tons of fun, but for the money you could buy the same thing in a sports car two vehicles down the line on the same car lot. Moderate power is fine but these are one offs for the smallest of smallest niche.

I don't find going fast in a Challenger with the same power train combo any more or less amusing then I do in this, but I at least understand the purpose of the Challenger, this...I don't. I mean is it for the middle aged mom, that always loved going fast but had 3 kids so couldn't opt for the Challenger, and the Charger just didn't make her feel big enough on the highway? For me it's uncool but my bias in getting to have some fun in one puts it to a meh. So if you ignore that, then you have an idea of what to really expect.

Also for short distances it was smooth, but the usual performance seats over a bit of time would get to you as they weren't super comfortable and the added lumbar support and side support was not all that noticeably great. Which puts a damper on why you buy an SUV in the first place...comfort and size.

At least it isn't a Mercedes SUV. However it's still an SUV-with a ridiculous engine. Uncool

Since it went on sale.

Coolness is all about first impressions.
Uh okay never seen anyone of your description driving these, and when my father was questioning buying this for my mother over the (at the time) brand new Ram 1500 Sport, she was a far cry from that description to. So again I have to ask since when, cause I've met other owners of these and if this was meant to be a joke, it missed the mark.

It kind of harks back on what @Zenith said, people hear a stereotype, or get a singular image of a one time person being the way they describe and then perpetuate it in a general attitude. I mean the douche frat types that drive M3 E46s are the only one (oh and F-body owners) that have come close to living up to the stereotype set forth by the world and car culture at large. Everything else is just as bad as the dick waving people are claiming to be against.

If you showed my mother a picture of one of these, and asked her what sort of person she'd expect to drive it, she'd say that. My mother has so little interest in cars that she failed to notice that a '66 Mustang was parked outside her place the other day until I pointed it out to her, and even then she had no idea why it was special or unusual.

Who actually drives a car has no effect on how cool it is, only who is perceived as driving one.
