In early 00s Toyota had noticed how uncool Toyota brand actually was and how cool retro designs were on small city cars, so they decided to make one too. But then they realized that they had no classic city car that people outside Japan remembered, so they decided to make one out of an off-road classic (FJ40 Land Cruiser). The result was medium size SUV with styling that tries too hard to be cool. Seriously uncool.

Interesting styling, but interestingly doesn't particularly stay true to the original FJ LandCruisers.

Indeed, I've mostly seen them as a soccer mum's car, which means it's one of the least cool vehicles on the road. Also has no diesel engine option which isn't particularly useful for our climes.
