Sub-Zero, I just can't help, but feel that it is that cool. The looks and the fact you don't have to go to a gas station for a long time is just plain awesome. I can't believe the styling though, it's one of those cars that looks faster than it actually is.
 
Love it. It looks brilliant in the flesh, incredibly small but well proportioned. It's also a spectacular engineering achievement.

I just hope they put that Ducati Panigale-engined version into production too..
 
Ask a 14 year old what car will look like in 20 years time and this is what they would draw.

Appreciate the technology, but it just looks silly :lol:
 
A solid cool. Misses out on Subzero simply because they compromised the design with extra weight and batteries simply so they could beat the NECD cycle... (the stupidest regulatory fuel economy standard on Earth), which allows you to start on a full charge and end on an empty battery.

Still, absolutely fantastic technical achievement. The Veyron of hybrid cars, actually.

While I don't particularly care about the Veyron, I rather like this.
 
It's a good concept and they've had the balls to put it into limited production. But. You ain't looking cool stepping out of what appears to be a prop from a 90's sci-fi film. High meh.
 
A solid cool from me; as others have said, it's the Veyron of economy cars, but the important difference is there's a much greater chance of trickle-down happening from this to the average car than there was of the hyper-jellybean. This car is the future, but it's here now.
 
This car is very cool. Misses Sub-Zero due to that price tag. Yes, I know, it's new technology and expensive materials and that kind of stuff, but I do think it's a bit too much, but given the money, I would definately buy it. Or just wait for the Ducati engined version. Either way I would daily one.

Otherwise, this car is an awsome feat of engineering and what could be accomplished, from this, is amazing. As someone said, we need more of these kind of cars. They are indeed the future.
 
Anyone who denies this car's sub zeroness needs to be locked in a room with 2001 and Bladerunner playing alternately on a loop until they either get the point or die of dehydration.
 
This seems to want to invent a new genre of "retro-futuristic". It does look like an Insight or another concept from the 90s. But it's also pretty, and very impressive technically. George Jetson would drive one. Upper Cool.

Yeah, it's great to have such a low mpg, and I highly appreciate the high-end engineering behind it, but why do all these cars have to look like this?

Aerodynamics is king when it comes to efficiency. And the teardrop shape is the most efficient shape.
 
Uncool. It's great that it's so great on gas, but anyone with the money for this probably doesn't have to worry about how much money they have to spend on gas. Make something that the average person can afford and that'll be cool.

Ditto. 235 mpg is a lot. And it's not a boring design. Except it's really expensive.

Ah yes, where the Porsche 918 is more economical than a Golf Bluemotion. They really need to change it.
Yeah, the Euro cycle ratings are silly most of the time. For the record, what are the Euro cycle ratings for the 918 and that Golf? The 918 is rated at 20 city/24 highway by the EPA, and I think it's rated 67 MPGe on the Euro cycle for plug-in hybrids. That's all I know.

By the way, I'm voting the 918 Sub Zero if it ever pops up on the Cool Wall.

I know I won't be saying many different things from the rest of the posters here, but here I go: It is a testament of Fernand Piëch's tenacity to create the 1-liter car against all odds. Yes, it is stupid pricey for an eco-car. But it is also a technological marvel that paves the way of future eco-cars. The design is not really bad, it had to look the way it looks for the sake of fuel consumption. It is not economical for marketing purposes, it is economical for the sake of showing the way for future cars, to prove that you can have some degree of fun while driving sensibly.

It is a cool for me, because I'm saving the sub-zero for the XL1 Sport.
 
I kind of surprised with the comments on its looks. It looks like a regular car, maybe a bit simpler of a design than usual. Take away the rear wheel cover and it looks absolutely normal (but still very good).

The back doesn't make me think Volkswagen, but it's not all that strange. It creates an image of a hybrid between Cadillac and Lincoln.
 
The design does look more GM than VAG from that angle. Almost like a modern, less thermally-unstable EV1 with a hint of GM Ultralite. Similar drag coefficient too.
