There is no such thing as a cool lorry. In terms of the crowd it draws, the KAMAZ is placed somewhere in between tractor pulling and NASCAR, so it does not bode well for its coolness.

No you wouldn't. It's a race car.
There is a public version, called Kamaz 4911 Extreme. Costs ~$200.000 or so.

The max power is 730 hp. The max speed is ~200 km/h, but the tires may do "bang" and you'll roll over (Michlein declares 130 km/h as speed index for these).
Here is one going over 160 km/h on a highway.

Can't resist a bit of military action, eh?
When we talk about Kamaz, there's always a place for something military.

Oh, wait, I found a more appropriate pic. :D

Let's be honest, Russia is not a cool country. Australia is cool, Mate. Russia? Nyet.
Can't argue with this. :D
But anyway, some of the products are really cool.

I thought the Kamaz was up for polling, not Russia.
Then have a crack at reading the entire conversation - since that was a response to the point that "it's so ridiculous to see people telling "%carname% is uncool because %countryname% is uncool"." rather than an outright statement of why the Kamaz isn't cool.

Which, incidentally, it isn't because it's a race "car".

It's a truck, how on earth can anyone consider it cool?

OK, I get Americans are a bit odd and think pick-up's are cool, but this is a truck... it might have 1,000bhp and be fast for a truck, but it's still a truck

Pointless.

Seriously uncool.

The Pajero won the Dakar twelve times because it's a purpose-built buggy that has little-to-no-relation to an actual Pajero (except for the 1997 Pajero Evo, which was sort of cool, except it looked like a Batmobile reject).

The Kamaz won the Dakar twelve times because it's a purpose-built mega-buggy with three to five times the horsepower of its commercial counterpart. Which, let's be honest, is not all that sexy.

The Unimog won the Paris Dakar truck competition several times... as an actual support vehicle... then everybody got horsepower crazy and Mercedes... well, they just kept building Unimogs. Trucks built to actually go off-road.

Case in point:

Google Image Search. "Unimog Articulation"

Can't vote on the Kamaz. While domination in the Dakar is impressive, it's a tool purpose-built for this race, and this race alone.

A Unimog? That's a truck you would (and could) actually drive around. And one you can, as a civilian, buy to take off-road. It's slow. It's incredibly slow. And the gear lever layout leaves a lot to be desired...

But it's cool as beans. Talking about classic Mogs, that is. If you have something like the Brabus Unimog, that's as seriously uncool as they get.

Could be worse:

Eww... let's reset:

Much better.

Given that a classic Unimog is about as cool as any truck can get, I think I've made up my mind on the Kamaz...

Seriously, seriously Uncool.

How can anyone consider something that looks good parked outside of a café cool? I certainly don't consider that when I'm thinking about how cool a car is, but that doesn't mean someone else can't.

This Brabus Unimog is cool, too. :D
The Kamaz 4326 is not that strong off-road, but impressive too.
Also, reliable in extreme conditions and easy to maintain (not sure about Unimog though).

Like any Soviet heavy metal.

It isn't either sub-zero nor seriously uncool.

I don't particularly racing trucks. I honestly think they are a bit stupid. It is not seriously uncool because because it runs on Dakar and Dakar is very cool.

A solid Meh

The road version boosts up to cool.

Hmmm, let's see where this thread has gone...

"Is seriously uncool because Russia doesn't like homosexuals, therefore its primary purpose is to kill homosexuals. And even if it's not, all racing is uncool so SU anyway."

...seriously?

I'm actually confused as well how that works. Regardless, it probably would have been best to nominate the "road-going" model and not the full-blown machine. Either way I can't vote on this. Just can't.

Also note, it's a truck. And not a pick-up truck, or an SUV, or an off-road rig, it's just a truck.

And it's not a Unimog.

I had another go, and I'm still inclined to take Rage Racer's side here.
Of course you are - though he as a non-native English speaker picked up on the sarcasm you seem to have badly missed, and I got his...

Go back and read my first post again. Feel free to quote it if you like. If you get any of the rubbish you just paraphrased out of it then you are doing so deliberately as part of this bizarre character you've been playing for the last couple of years.

You might've been joking, but you still voted SU. And in any case, last time I tried to say Seriously Uncool Because Russian I got pulled up for it... and we were talking about an actual product of communism there.

Like I do with every race car that goes through here. Except the Abarth Porsche because that actually was sold to private individuals with roadgoing ability (even if almost none of them ever did it).
Also, seriously uncool because race"car".
Because racing cars do not belong here.
And in any case, last time I tried to say Seriously Uncool Because Russian I got pulled up for it...
Don't post an opinion if you can't handle having it questioned.

Incidentally, I didn't say it was Seriously Uncool because it's Russian. I listed its origins amongst the reasons why it would be considered uncool if it weren't a race car. Just like in the last thread where you confused - or deliberately conflated - my saying that things that contribute towards a car's coolness include being small for my saying small cars are cool, you seem to have done with Russian and uncool here.

... and we were talking about an actual product of communism there.
Well, a little correction - USSR was a country of well-developed socialism, and communism (as the economic system) was the target. But it was never reached, because communism is an utopia.
Anyway, what's bad about the Soviet engineering? The Union was the home of great talented engineers like Sergey Korolyov, Sergey Ilyushin, Alexey Tupolev... and Mikhail Kalashnikov, of course. :)
Remember, the commies were those who have put the road to space.

 The 2105 was kinda decent for the '80s (especially for those who didn't have much to choose from, lol), but in the '90s and '00s, it was left as it was and outdated like **** of a mammoth.
Who do you think let this outdated junk be produced for such a long time? Capitalists. :sly:

It's a well performing truck with a stupidly large amount of power/torque. It loses some of the uncool because race car factor because a normal 4326 seems pretty impressive to start with. However, it's a flying brick that's sponsored by Red Bull. I ignored the Russia non-sense due to the fact that it's a freaking truck.

Meh.

16.5 Liter Engine! Almost twice the size of a Viper engine!

Doesn't matter how good or bad the rest of the car is; that fact alone makes it Sub-Zero.
