Im also surprised at how many Sub-Zero votes this car is receiving. Too many members caught up with the hype of a "VEE TWELVE FERRARRRRI", I guess

There's about 5 different 90's cars that are cooler than the F50 and yet it is still Sub-Zero to me. Those 5 cars would have their own fridge.

And as for the love-it-or-hate-it styling, I love it. And there's the exclusivity factor of the F50, as well as this essentially being the predecessor to what was originally called the F60, or as it's known now, the Enzo.

Usually it'd be uncool - but I have recently seen a picture of one that was gun metal grey with a red interior - and it took all of those aesthetic problems away - it looked fantastic.

Plus, EVO rates it as quite a good driver's car as well - not just an over powered, underperforming supercar - it offers feedback to the driver and was rated a better driver's car than the 997 GT3 RS. On top of that, its a proper supercar - low volume numbers, rediculous noise and looks and all that.

Plus I don't buy the whole "Ferrari is uncool" - I'd rather do it on a car by car basis.

Sub-Zer0! Who cares what it looks like, certainly not an enthusiast willing to dish out a million clams for it.
The F-50 is 'supercar' defined and ruled the '90s along with the McLaren F1.

I think you're doing a bit of a disservice to the F50. It was more than just some afterthought Ferrari. It used the engine out of the Ferrari 333sp prototype, a dry twin plate clutch, all carbon fiber tub, and electronically adaptive dampers among other things. That was cutting edge tech for a road car back then, it was very rare for cars to have that tech on them. Every part of that car was an advancement on the previous F40. The F50 was the first Ferrari to really have modern F1 tech. Without the F50 the Enzo wouldn't have been born. Subzero.

and, yet, I don't really think this car really didn't capture the imagination of the public like the F40 or Enzo did. It instead faded into the background as stuff like the F1 and Diablo garnered all the attention.

Not a knock on Joey but I found this funny.

Cool Wall Rules
Please try and be original, you are free to nominate anything that fits in the rules but nominating something like a Ferrari F50 is a bit pointless. Like I said though, you are free to nominate how you see fit.

It seems it's not as pointless as he thought.

Ferrari that I love from the back, but hate from the front. Its a supercar though, like it or not, that deserves atleast a cool.

uncool, 39%. The car looks like that Ferrari rushed though this process and messed up.

I'm going to break my silence and say why I love this car..

I think it's because it's a grown up F40.. it's an F40 that got over the whole turbo thing and just fitted a "contemporary F1 inspired" V12 instead, they fitted bigger brakes, wider tyres, more saftey and it's still pretty much as fast as the '40. In the flesh, IMO, the F50 is more of feature than the Enzo - although I love the enzo the F50's got that "yeah, so what?" look.. where the Enzo tries to be understated... but only manages to be as understated as a neon-bomb in a fireworks factory... called tarquin.

Yea I agree, the F50 is definately a lot more 'ballsier' than the Enzo.
However I think everyone fell into the hype with the Enzo though its still not better than the F50 not the McLaren F1.

Although I am a lover of Ferrari, I have to say, this car looks insanely ugly compared to modern times, but it was the sexiest thing on wheels back then. Not anymore. It's hardly practical in any way, it's incredibly hard and uncomfortable to drive, it's a race car with street legal tires. The F40 is a lot better imo. Seriously Uncool, just shy of vomit-on-the-computer-screen Uncool.

Quite the butter face. Everything is good about this car, except the race car bed styling, I never did really care for the way it looks, I'm sure it will do the going part very well. It looks pretty good going away from you, just approaching and passing, not so much. The F40 looks much better IMO, and since they had already made the F40, then turned out this, I have to give it an Uncool. It just does not look as serious as an F40, and why is the top removable?

A reasonable successor to the F40, but nowhere near as raw. The F50 GT was the true successor. However, I do think the F50 is cool because of its exclusivity - you don't see these cruising around every day (if ever).

Hmmm...

More refined than an F40.

Available in Spyder form.

Has a real engine... Nice smooth V12 instead of that all or nothing turbo mill the F40 has.

Supposedly really, really... really good to drive.

...

Seriously Uncool.

You can't outrun ugly.

I was going to vote Seriously Uncool and then I clicked the wrong option.

Craptastic. Anyway, to back up my statement, even though it's technologically advanced, the styling is all wrong to me. To me, it is the F40's ugly afterbirth.

Cheers.

I...didn't see that.:dunce:

I figured since we had the F40, we could do the F50.

I'm not sure I agree that the F50 is much softer than the F40... maybe more comfortable, but no less of a weapon..

I LOVE this video

I'll vote for uncool simply because I think it's ugly and out-done by its predecessor (F40). That said, I would probably think it was very cool if one roared by me.

I don't think the F50 is any softer than the F40. The interior might be slightly plusher trimmed, but since the engine is bolted directly onto chassis and therefore a 'stressed member' with the rear suspension bolted to the gearbox, it's never going to be 'soft' with next to nothing dampening either engine or transmission vibrations from the passenger cell.

It's not a bad car by any stretch of the imagination, and certainly technically a step-up from the F40's 1950's chassis construction. And quicker too.

It's just such an unattractive thing.

It depends on the perspective :D!

Amazingly hideous, good technology (but who can make use of it?), and to be honest, if it is a Ferrari or a Hyundai, it doesn't matter to me. The badge doesn't save it from being Seriously Uncool.

In my opinion.

Gorgeous! Never seen that 1 before.

hehe its to me one of the most good looking ferraris i ever seen:tup:! And of corse... Japanese style:D!
