I thought the whole reason it was cool was the fact that it was a small truck offered with a V8. I've seen so many of them, I never realized they were all swaps (and yes, I'm talking about the Ranger and not the F-150). I'd change my vote to "meh" if I could.

Yeah the Dakota is the only small pickup to offer a V8 from the factory. Reason there are so many swaps is the engine compartment has plenty of space for a V8, and it's easy to swap in.

I was also under the impression that on at least the newer versions, they got people who worked on the Miata to do the chassis work. It'd explain quite a lot.

I remember hearing that for the latest global version, they had the driving dynamics tweaked by the team responsible for recent Jaguars.

Still one of my favorite test-drives of all time.

This is the Asian-market seven seater version. This particular car now sports ARB bumpers and a winch. Pretty capable car.

Now I'm starting to think, maybe it was a bad idea to poll my own truck.

I'm European, I do not understand trucks, they are not cars.

Sorry astrodude: but if you dig your truck as subzero it is the right truck for you, do not worry about the others, they do not have time to worry about you either.

There's not that many pick-ups that I would give a cool vote too, so its doing something right. 👍

Meh, I don't really like pickup trucks. They are useful vehicles and pleasing to drive, but I just don't get it.

For the most part, I agree with TheCracker. Trucks do what they do just fine, and are quite useful. However, they aren't really cool (there are exceptions, namely the performance built trucks). This especially applies to the guys who straight-pipe and lift every Chevy Z71 I see.

That better be the supercar definition, they're incredibly awesome yet only morons drive them.

No, different definition. The vehicle's a tool, a utility and the further they get modified away from what the original concept is - whether that's by an individual or the original manufacturer - the less cool they become.

My Splash is 14 years old and still a pretty cool little truck.
If you remember that it is a LITTLE truck and behave accordingly.

Uncool. I'd have voted seriously uncool but it doesn't have nearly the presence to be that bad. I think that might be even worse than seriously uncool.

I used to hate these things. Now, I think they are Third World-cool. Must be the smallest compact pickup in the States. 👍

I vote "cool"

Why? They're fun, and can haul stuff. And I'm biased because it's like my trucks baby brother :D
