You'll find more people this side of the Atlantic who can do that with a Trabi than a Bel Air (much less a specific year).

Hell, even I couldn't tell you what a Bel Air was beyond a sit-com with Will Smith in it. In Europe, everyone over a certain age who is even the slightest bit aware of current events, and a sizeable chunk of people under that age, would immediately know what you meant by a Trabant.

Yet here we've never seen one. So we related your Trabant the same way you see our 57 Bel Air. We've never heard of it!

I haven't seen a classic Beetle on UK roads (or any others) in a decade - and they made 21 million of those.

Most are probably in the scrapheap or are rusting away since the glory days of the old Herbie movies.

Or sitting in garages as projects waiting to be restored

I see still classic beetles daily here. I guess it's where live right? 70's beetles in particular are common. I even see the occasional oval window. By my limited VW knowledge that would be 1957 or earlier.

I've seen Beetles on occasion on the street here. Not often though. I see a lot waiting for a restoration or in the junk yard though. See quite a few in peoples yards as well.

The "Challenger" had one big thing working against it, it was a captive import. This thing was it's own deal, down to the two-stroke engine. It is one of the quirks of a public opinion vote.

I know, but "cool" has a majority, so in one sense, it did win, even if not officially.

Besides, we all know this communist heap deserves its own special section far, far below seriously uncool.

Results time:

In the case of the Trabant 601, the overall swing defies the majority, dubbing the car Uncool.

Aside: Here is a excellent example of why a voting formula was established.

Is cool just because I will probally never see one in person. I would love to put a LS1 in one for the LULZ

Just curious, is there a place that the formula is listed?

No. I thought about putting it up, but no one seemed too worried about it, so I focused more on the other stuff.

If I put it up for all, I'll do it in either the nomination thread or in the OP on the Results thread. If you want to know, I'll be glad to share.

I wouldn't mind knowing. I think it makes it more fair. I am a bit curious. Is it that one that was suggested? I thought I read that somewhere.

The one from the Nomination Thread that Crash mentioned? The idea is the same, but I went another direction from that one.

I think I'll post it on the Results OP, That way it's easy to find. The problem is that once it is mentioned, what's to stop people from voting because of the results instead of what they think is cool/uncool.
