This car is nasty, nasty, nasty. The car of a lunatic. It's so powerful, so raw, so beastly, so limitless! :dopey: In a hunch i would ask for "Lord Kelvin's Ice Box", but i have rules and I'll stick to them.

Ot of 20 rules, 10 apply. 8 of them are pros, 2 are cons. This means 80%=Cool.

Pros: I would need new pants if that ever drove past me.
Cons: I would need new pants if that ever drove past me.

Can't be driven by normal people? Can't turn? Takes 20 minutes to start? Do not care. At all. I see it, and the only thing I can think is 'awesome'. This is one of my "I love it and I don't care what you say" cars. I'd vote sub zero even if it was fuelled by the blood of baby seals and you could only stop it by running over old people.

Sub 🤬 zero, 🤬
I've edited your post, please don't do that again. The swear filter works quite well on its own, or use the smilie as I did.

As for the car, dunno who heard the road car didn't have reverse gear, would love to know a source for that as its one speed 12 myth I've never heard of (and I know most of them).

Its a car I've always loved for the sheer insanity of it, sub zero for me.

Scaff

Sub-Zero. Has its own fridge in TVR's own "Reflex Spice" colour-shift paint.

A rumoured McLaren F1-eater, only 10 times more mad, and I absolutely adore it for that reason.

A pure numbers exercise, has barely any soul, and almost completely useless in any situation below fourth gear. It's a shelf piece. Uncool.

Cheers,
Jetboy

What he said.

Every car that has been voted cool thus far I can at least somewhat understand. This one however I have 0 idea why it is sub-zero.

It could totally kill an F1, until you have to turn. After that your screwed.

Oh.
My.
God.

Is this car really going to be put up in "sub-zero?" This car is absolutely, seriously uncool. It's not just a super car, it's a super car built to excess. And there is (questionably) no beauty about it, whatsoever, which could potentially save it. It's a boy racer for multimillionaire 45 year old yuppies. How is that cool at all!?

It's not a supercar. TVRs aren't supercars. They're not exclusive enough... not expensive enough... and smell like glue. Yes... they're supercars to me... but not to the gold-chained, pepper-haired, hairy-chested contingent driving Lamborghinis... which is all that matters.

This is a racing homologation exercise gone amok. Amok in the sense that they produced the car, tested it and found out it was too hard-core for road use. They whipped out the dyno and it tore it into little itty-bitty pieces. Peter Wheeler tested it and it converted him to Veganism, Catholicism and Scientology all at once... which explains the Scamander. They produced only one "road car" and forgot to sell it, and it took a whole lot of effort by one enthusiast to buy it and make it road-legal.

You can't use more than a pinky toe on the throttle in third gear... or in any gear, for that matter... and the turning circle is atrocious.

Personally, sub-zero, but I'm abstaining, as I nominated it. Just seeing Famine get brain-freeze come voting time (which I'd only partially hoped would happen... I actually want to see how everyone will vote) is enough for me.

Actually... I nominated this car purposely because, by the numbers, it's very similar to the 9ff. But these two cars were built for very different purposes... and it shows in the execution.

Sub-zero, it's fast and looks good.

Although I like the original one better, I think it's the original one? Ever since Hot Wheels made the 1:18 scale version of this Speed 12, it's the only one I can imagine.

Didn't knew Jezza had tested it on his "Afro" days. Do you have a video about it? Would be great to know what's his opinion on this mindless machine.

I always wanted one, and for that reason it should be uncool.

However, I will never get one, so it is still cool.

+ It's the most insane car ever.
How can it not be sub-zero?

EDIT: That video is Jeremy Clarkson's The Most Outrageous I believe, it's somewhere in my collection

Hard to decide, very hard.
Its a TVR - uncool
It looks way OTT - uncool
Fails the girlfriend test by a mile

Yet there is a part of me that thinks its simply awesome. Going to have to come back to it in the morning and see if I think its awesome enough to make it to cool.....

Buying a car and already accepting defeat, acknowledging you're going to die.. uncool

How are you going to pick up your date and scare them just getting to the destination?

Never seen a normal looking one (that is, one without the kit - unlike EVO, or that looks like the Spd12 - unlike Top Gear.....Normal looking one is the one on GT4 :P) other than that Maroon one being offloaded from a truck at Goodwood on youtube.

Rubbish car - but somehow I love it - possibly because you'll never drive it, or use more than 3mm of throttle travel - but its all yours - the craftmanship and the ludicrous styling - gahhhh - I'm having a streak of S-Zs.

Well i meant by people like you and me. They certainly hired a professional to take it out for a spin.

A professional auto-journalist?

The Evo test was done on the road by a person who didn't have the superhuman reflexes of Kimi Raikkonen. No, you don't need superhuman skills to drive one. Just superhuman restraint.

Of course... the chance that guys like you and I, without lots of money or connections to people with access to the car, will actually be able to drive it are pretty slim. Same goes for any rare car of which only one road-legal unit actually exists.

Hmmm... maybe I should nominate the Merlin-powered "Beast" next...

A pure numbers exercise, has barely any soul, and almost completely useless in any situation below fourth gear. It's a shelf piece. Uncool.

Exactly

And I'm pretty sure the EVO test was done by John Barker who's a very experienced racer as well as a journalist... maybe not F1 driver skill level, but he'd still be able to run rings round anyone on here... he ran in the Nurburgring 24 hour race this year for example.

And in his Evo test, the only negatives he pointed out for road use is that you couldn't use much accelerator at all, on the road or the racetrack. Aside from having too much torque for the tires, the Speed12 drives much like any other TVR.

Which probably means it is useless for fast driving on the road, but that's a different degree of uselessness.

Hmmm, I think TVR's have a undeserved reputation as far as how difficult or dangerous they are to drive. I've drive a few modern TVR's and overall I quite liked them.

The most civilised was a Tamora... quite softly sprung and not scarey at all. The frightening one was a Sagaris... very, very fast, super hard suspension and lightening quick steering... needed a gentle touch! I wouldn't fancy the Sagaris on cold, wet, slippery winter roads.

I really like the normal Cerbera on a set of 18" 'spider' alloys... but their unreliability reputation means I'd never put my own money in to one.

This car...
Wow. You'll die trying to do anything, it's just got that much power. It's also so damn light. The cool factor is so high, my hands'll catch on fire voting anything else.

I think that the Speed 12 is insane. You'd have to have a set to drive this thing at full throttle. Sub-Zero.

Exactly. 👍

Driving the Speed 12 in Gran Turismo 4 is the closest thing to driving the real one so far, and I absolutely love it. Sub-Zero.

Sub-Zero

I remember going to watch this car at Donington when it first hit the GT Series, the sound was immense. It drowned out every other car around it.
