But this was a concept for a race car, was it not?
No. This was a concept, but it wasn't DIRECTLY for either the road car or race car. Like I said in the OP, the design of this car was the basis for the Gen.2 Viper, which came out in 2002, and the Competition Coupe, which externally copys the car. The big thing is that this lone car is complete. Not only does it run, but the interior is whole AND it all works, Air Conditioning included.
The GTS-R name never implied a street car.The people who say this should have gone into production wouldn't have got their wish as a street car even if they did produce the GTS-R. It would have been marketed to race teams.
I give you the GTS-R Street Car.
And they would announce it, rumor is the SRT is getting a public offering of Rs in the future, but it's not something you're local dealer will deal in unless they have a regular with more money than they know what to do with. Anymore, there's a distinction between race and road cars, look at the 911.
Some of us did want this, or at least something very similar, maybe with smaller wheels and the splitter taken off, but we didn't. The Gen.2 is nice and got better with time(IMO), but it was a bit of a let-down at the time.
ALSO: From what I can tell, most text I find uses the dash, and the SRT uses it for the new one, but Gen.1 and the concept both use GTS
R.
