**** I didn't start on line racing till GT5.

I still miss GT4:(
The offline "game" portion was much better than either GT5 or GT6, but PSN didn't yet have an on-line network so we didn't really race on-line against other cars. We raced offline and would then post our race video's to show our results.

The reason I mentioned this New York track was because it was essentially flat. And the Chaparral 2J would be completely in its element to race there. The 2J's vacuum effects would stay glued to the road and the 2J would just fly around all the 90 degree corners, and its torque would let it power away from the slow-speed corners.:) Its too bad that GT6 doesn't have this New York track.

Ah yes, good old GT4 missions. That was 1 hard mission to win, but the hardest ones for me were the 3 lap drafting test

in Nissan GT-Rs at the huge test track & the catch the old Mercedes 300 SL with the new Mercedes SLR at the Ring.

Those 2 gave me fits & finally after many many tries I won them & got the gift car. (I can't remember what it was but

you had to win it to get it.)
Agree with you Papa,, the NewYork race GT shared probably took 2 or 3 months of playing that mission almost every day before I hit every corner just right, made every gear change correct, maintained the right momentum to catch a little draft at just the right moment to get there and collect the Gold,, but that Test Track drafting mission took at least a year! We could get sooo very close but just couldn't catch the last car until we finally learned just the right moment to pull out of the draft and power on to the next car. As exasperating as it was it was satisfying to finally get 'er done. I kinda wish the PD gang would give us some seasonal's like that again and keep the prize a secret - not for sale in the dealership. Just as you said in GT4, the ONLY way to get that car was Gold the event. The Academy events in GT5 were in a slight way similar but they made prize cars available. Like many of you I quite pleased with myself when I finally got the gold at Spa and won the NISSAN GT3 car.. Was going to use it in some lobby races and see how many would message me - "Where'd you get that car?",, But that vision was dashed when we found they'd added it to the dealership lineup.

Wow! Guess I need to visit the first page 1 post,, there's a bunch of names on this list I've never seen before. Congrats to all the Geezers and Thanks again Geezer Jerry for preparing and posting the list for us!!

OK, its not New York,:( but I ran the Chaparral 2J on the 'Ring and was able to climb into the top 100 on the early Leaderboard:)

34010230253_3342b6a943_k.jpg

Its tough trying to keep the 2J on the track at this speed, but the 2J is certainly fast!!!
Good luck to anyone willing to give it a try!:D

Awesum run GT!! 7:23 is haul'n behind  considering it's a seasonal and the disqualify devil :mischievous: is waiting for any misque! You can run it quicker I'm certain but a few off track excursions, corners slightly missed would likely net you a mid to low teens run. Perhaps even in the :00's,, you're that quick bud.

I drove a few other cars, the 905 Peugeot, the 787B, 92Nissan and a couple others that just weren't in the hunt for me. Posted a 7:53.14 I think in the GT1 which has me in the 1400's. I'm saving a try with the TSO30 and maybe the 2J for next week. As you say, the 2J is one FAST puppy but it's also a hand full and if we catch a curb it's ADIOS MF! :banghead: and the expletives fly!:irked: The little TSO30 is a dream to drive 👍👍, very forgiving and the aliens are posting some 7:0's that make it a contender. I don't expect to be in the 7:30's but if I can post in the mid to lower 7:40's I'll be a happy ol man.

Time to give my 2J a break, so I figured that I must have another car that would be interesting on the 'Ring, so I checked my garage and spotted a Ford product that had a few years on it: the 1967 Ford Mark IV Race Car. I purchased a few upgrades from my friendly Ford dealership and took it to the 'Ring. After a few laps, I threw down a 8:01.650 lap:)

34710286701_3a5721a712_k.jpg

I think that its possible to break 8 minutes flat, so that's my new goal:drool:

Give it a try, its quite a nice challenge to find this much speed in the Ford Mark IV

Will done 👍👍 and will do bud,, like you I didn't even give it a second look. I will now!! I wonder how we would do in the GT40 tuned for the monster Ring? Hmmmm - Ohh, by the by I drove the lil TSO30 in the World practice track with a tune Ema gave us quite awhile back and ran a "respectful of the DQ" opening lap of 7:32. Hmmm, if I get brave and attack wonder if I can bust into the 7:20"s without the DQ Devil :mischievous: showing it's ugly head ?? Just to help keep the Geezer thread running will post how I did. C'mon you elders, let the PS4's rest, fire up your PS3's (if they're still alive), let yer buddys know how you're doing with the "dare to be different" cars.

Edit: Found that Ema tune if anyone's interested,, it's in the video he posted - post #58: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/630pp-2wd-racing-car-super-lap-nürburgring-24h.346222/page-2

The Ford Mark IV is fast but also has some handling quirks, so its quite a nice challenge.

The Ford dealer charges quite a few dollars to buy the car, so as you run your laps you have to forget that you paid quite a few million for the car:nervous: but otherwise its great fun!!

Just a quick hello to all of the geezers:tup:. I'm sorry I haven't been able to participate in the Saturday morning races. I'm a Vietnam vet and disabled and the VA has me on meds that prevent me from being up that early in the morning. If there were some races later in the day I'd really like to try my hand with you all. I'm not the best of drivers and do use aids now that my DFGT died. Thanks for allowing me to be a member.

Hi Racin!:) Thank You for your service  and thanks for your post!! 👍👍 Here's a thought since you aren't able to join us for the Saturday race's, I'll do a member search and send you a Friend Request (FR) once I'm logged in at GT6, some of the active Geezers can do the same and you can compete with us via the Time Trials - Seasonal's. Post your seasonal times here in the Geezer thread if you'd like just as GTSail and I. If you need it we can help you with settings we use OR vice/versa. Until GTSport is here we're not doing alot of other races than our Saturday events. Quite a few Geezers are on the PS4 (myself included) playing The Crew, Project Cars, Asetta Corsa (sp), the beta version of GTSport, but so far we're not doing any organized Geezer racing in any of these PS4 games. We're all sort of hang'n out awaiting the release of GTSport - then we'll get some serious Geezer racing underway I am certain.

Greetings @Racin510s -
Welcome to the Club and thread!👍
On Saturdays we normally race until around 11:30am, so would you be able to drop in around then?
We would be glad to have you join, even if for only the last race!

Go ahead and send a friend request to my "GTsail3" game profile (where I'm currently running the Ford Mark IV Race Car) and you can have another blue streak to chase (or be chased) around the track.

Here's a picture of the first car that I owned (after giving it a wash) so you know I'll like racing 510's:D

Still trying to get that pup around without the DQ Devil nabb'n me,, so far, after God only knows how many restarts, he's winning!

Gave the GT40LM Race Car a go too, it has a sub 8 min run in it,, but so far the DQ Devil's got me in that one too! Not giv'n up tho!!

Ran some more laps with the Ford Mark IV Race Car and was able to find another second which gave me a "Bond" time;)

I ran some more laps and nearly went 7:56 flat:)

There's more time to be had, so I've asked my pit crew to work on my Ford's suspension/transmission tuning, so expect to see a lower time shortly:drool:

@GTsail, thanks for the post. Don't know why it would not let me quote it. Friend Request sent today 5/25/17. I need a little more info about how to catch the later Saturday morning races. I haven't tried an online race/lobby since GT5 that left a bad taste in my mouth. So if you would let me know how to get to the races. I'll do my best to try and get one in.

I wasn't able to log in to GT today so don't know if you got my FR partner, but if you have one of the GEEZERS on your friends list, the easiest way is log in, go to the Community, look under friends, click them - scroll over to the far right of the page you'll see "In Room" or "In Lobby" (CRS,, don't remember exactly what it says), then just click the room icon and wah lah,, you're in. Another way is do a Community club search, OR send one of us a note and we'll guide you in. As Tom Bodette says - "We'll leave the light on for ya" :)

I've received your friend request so you're on my FR list, thanks!!

As to the Saturday racing, I also sent you a Geezer Club invitation, so once you accept that you should be able to join our Geezer racing on Saturday's. Just follow what @Daduce1947 says above^^^.

As for what car we use, its been up to our esteemed leader: @pmallard (also known as Pepper;)) to pick a car for us, and then we all buy the car and bring it to the Club races. This week, I think that Pepper has mentioned that we will use the HKS CT230R '08 which can be purchased for $260,000 or won in this week's Seasonal at Tsukuba. Generally, we run our cars completely "stock" so you shouldn't need to do any tuning to the cars, though usually Pepper expects us to drop $250:ouch: for an oil change to get a few quarts of "fresh" racing oil in our cars.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!!👍

I'm certainly getting the Ford Mark IV dialed in:)
I've now done a lap under 7:55:

The Ford Mark IV is quite fast, so its a nice challenge trying to get more speed out of it. I think I might be able to find another half second, so its back to the 'Ring for me!!:dopey:

GT, where did the invitation go? I haven't been on the PS3 since early yesterday. Didn't see anything in my inbox here? Please let me know? Looking forward to a race. I have the HKS and fortunately haven't done anything to mine, but tuned the one on my son's account. Duh:dunce: to fast with my reply. Will do once I get on the PS3 today.

I've sent FR's and they are all pending. I found the club in the Community section but need some type of 7 digit code. I apologize for sending multiple messages. I suppose most o f you don't have the luxury of being at home all day like I do, which really isn't a luxury for me.

Hi again Racin,
Hmm strange you're not seeing the FR's bud. I'll be logging in after I send this note to see if you've accepted the FR I sent, in any event it may be that we'll not see the event ID number until Pepper opens the Geezer Saturday racing lobby tomorrow morning, if that's the case one of us can send you the number BUT - we cannot send the number as we do in this page,, for some reason when we send a series of numbers via the message in PSN the only thing you'll see is a bunch of asterisc's (I can't spell it!) that look like "**********" so we must add a space between each character. If you have to use the ID just ignore the spaces. We hope you can join us,, we really do have a good time for around 4 hours - OH - and we use headphones and talk alot about stuff ol guys talk about, so if you have one,, ;)

WRT working or retired, Pepper still works at 70, geezer1791 still works part time at 73 (I may be off a year or so), GT still works - I think, oldboy1942 - he's 75 - not sure if he still works or not, haybalekiller, not sure if he's retired, Billy sometimes joins in and he's a pup at 63 or 64 I think, I'm 70, retired and do nutt'n but cruize YouTube, play the PS, eat, walk the dogs and be a PITA for my dear Wife.👍

Hi Daduce,

I'm 61, so I might be the baby of the bunch:lol:. We are also friends now. So my name is Barnabas, what's yours? There's 3 hours different in our times. As I'm sending this it is 4 PM Eastern. Looks like Geezer and GT might be the only ones on my time. So if races start at 8:30 AM you must get up pretty early to participate. Glad to have a new friend.

I've now given the Ford GT40 Race Car '69 a go as well and was able to edge just under 8:10:

And then with quite a few more DQ's was able to edge down towards 8:07:

34814665631_18ef940052_k.jpg

The Ford GT40 Race Car is quite a beast!
Its quite fast in a straight line, and it likes to turn, but feels like its on slightly skinny tires (as compared to the Ford Mark IV), so it frequently looses traction and you find yourself running backwards or up against the armco. Its certainly a challenge 👍
I think I can go under 8:05 with it, but probably don't have the skills to go much lower than that.
An 8 minute flat lap it probably out of reach, but I will give it a try:drool:

Well done bud, well done indeed 👍👍

I tried both cars again today, numerous attempts with the Mark, 2 or 3 with the 40 but as before, DQ Devil owned NBRing for me. So,, feeling I needed a moral booster decided to take the TSO30 out fully confident I would lower my 7:52 previously set with the GT1. 👍 Daymn!! :banghead: DQ'd time after time. Just one of those days I guess.:ill:

The odyssey continues,,,,
