Amar, thankyou. A masterful assessment, and I love how you play the game in a methodical way just like I will....resisting the overzealous urge to look at everything straight away as many people on here are asking.

Great read! Enjoyed this all week, and its tied me over a bit until Wednesday's release. Thanks again!
 
Isn't there some "banning-system" in PS3? I mean when you play games before release like these guys who are posting videos/photos already? If you happen to get the game before release, is it safe to play it? I think xbox has some banning but I don't know about PS3?

Well I have usually become really accepting of it's flaws, but otherwise the game seems to have been rushed. First it was the standards were of lesser quality, I find it okay now, they don't look TOO bad. But I was accepting because I figured I would still be able to customize them as I did in GT4, build cars from the used car dealer, put some wheels on them (usually from Today's Special) and race and drag race them, and then with my friends. Then I come to find out the wheel selection is limited, the fact you can not change the wheels on standard cars and there is no 0-400 testing to be found. In addition, two player split screen is still there, thankfully, but no replays? You can't save replays either? This is pretty significant in the replay (continuous play) factor and enjoying it with friends who may not have the game, and saving good races/funny things. Among others, there are a limited amount of updated cars, despite the 1000 car mark. Combined with the lack of returning tracks (Midfield, Apricot Hill, Infineon) is unfortunate as well, but with the new track editor it should hopefully recreate some old favorites.

My thoughts precisely. The replay story is deflating. When i think of the races i used to have with my brother and the replay's we used to sit through..:ouch:
 
Just want to say thanks again to Amar. I must admit if I had GT5 early I reckon I would be too selfish to bother posting updates!

One thing im especially looking forward to is photo mode. Never bothered in the past but im tempted to go out and buy a decent printer and even frame some of my favourites.
 
I'm a bit sad seeing there is no Manufacturer events but oh well.

Cheers for the photo details. I asked RDK about the free cam but no answer yet.

Can't wait to try the physics, night, weather and photomode. There's still many aspects about the game that have disappointed me though, but I'll buy it nonetheless.

GT4 had fast forward in the replay. Must be somewhere, like press down on the analogue stick.

Let me add my belated thanks for such a comprehensive and selfless report on what can be expected from this spectacular game. It really has helped a great deal during the past few days of waiting.

I've no actual questions as you've covered all that I find important and reassured me on the rest; just wanted to say thanks, that's all.

Also, how you have the patience when so many have seemed ungrateful, is frankly a miracle? Kudos to you good sir.

Here's hoping we meet out on the track someday.
 
This isnt a joke ive got the game! ica maxi in sweden released the game early! i guess its because they dont know anything about games!!! IM SOOOO FREAKIN HAPPY!!!! i but a celica gtr as my first car :D:D:D
 
Amar, as of now, what are all your statistics in the game?! This includes A-Spec level, B-Spec level, total cars owned, total percentage, I mean a screenshot will do.

Does anyone know if you can see where you are on the leaderboards? You can in GT:P but it only shows the top 10 and then your place. It'd be kinda good to see if you're dead last or how many people have done a time trial on that specific track in that specific car.

In some cars on GT:P I'm ranked quite high, but I can't tell if that's because maybe only a few hundred people have bothered time trial-ing them or if I'm genuinely that high?
