Don't need a teacher though, just need to put some time into it. I'm sure you will be able to teach yourself with your skill level. Just look at Dan's YouTube channel if you want to see how to drive the track proper fast.

Yeah he is pretty mental!

I tried once against him in a time trial at the Nurb, but he is just on another level

Joe, I don't know what I could teach you  Comes down to what you want to learn.

He is human still though. I remember racing against him on Nurburgring in heavy rain with a Megane I think. We both were understeering into barriers due to not using rain tyres . He started picking up the pace after getting grips with it though. The few races we have done on other tracks though, he has let me win some which is very nice of him 👍. I have only won outright when he drove with a pad with experimental settings.

Have you seen the 8 lap race he put up recently. Amazing how fast he has picked up no abs and was chasing down Phenicks083 before getting worried by a spider (Proof he is human ;)).

I have beaten him quite a few times in just quick 4 - 5 lap races online with 2 -3 laps pracitse before hand, but in a proper league race the best I had was finishing 2nd a few times by 5 and 8 seconds after an hour race with pitstops. He not as mental quick in a race as he is in Time trial, but you still need to be at the top of your game!

The best way to improve your skills is to find a group of people slightly faster and race with them 👍

I think it is more a question of him putting his mind into it. A league race is more serious so he makes sure he nails that but normal races are more casual so he probably just races for the fun of it. Messing up does not matter as much in such scenarios as long as you are having fun. Time trial he is human as well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkTNUQFLBjQ) but can drive faster than most of us though.

I've done probably under 20 total online races in GT5 so I'm heavily inexperienced so I know I have got a lot to improve on. It is really the small details that make up the big picture. I need to work on getting the car to rotate better mid corner for quicker exits and also to learn the tracks thoroughly. I've got fast racers on PSN at the moment but really need to get some online time to race against people more often.

My dish connection sucks. I can't race online but I can connect to the seasonal events. The TTs are the only way I can compete. Anyone willing to teach me how to improve on TTs?

This school is a great idea.

I just recieved a PM from Hollow about beeing an instructor around here, and it sounds like fun.
But when reading thru the thread, I can see some "sarcastic" posts..

First of all, the instructors pace does'nt need to be alien-like to be a good teacher.
I'm far from an alien, but I concider my self a good and patient teacher/instructor, and I'm good at pin pointing small details.
An instructors main skill should be theoretical, and also, since this is a practical sport, he needs good pace as well, allthough, it does not need to be alien certified to achieve the goal, that is to improve the skills of the "student". But the practical skill is secondary to the theoretical. And that goes for all different "classes" listed in the OP.

So all in all, I'm not an alien in pace, but I'm an alien in teaching/instructing. ;)

Hope I can help! 👍

I can teach in pretty much anything, so feel free to add me on PSN: chorda
Don't expect me to tach drifting tho..

I can primary teach in:
Nordschleife
Overtaking
Defensive driving
Race craft (Not a "class", but is partly included in the 2 above listed areas)
Driving without aids

Key instruction points I'll work with:
1. Throttle control
2. Brake control
3. Steering wheel input
4. Correct lines
5. Braking points (Use things/signs/shadows/whatever as brake markers. Anything that can help)
6. Planning
7. Tactics during races

I hope you guys can get it up and running ... it is a very nice idea and good for the GT5 community .

It's not really schooling, I'm pretty sure Hollow intended this to be taken as advise on how to get better on a certain area/subject in the game if you are struggling.

Definitely this, I don't want this to be boring and just a couple of people teaching you how to run a car. It's about learning those little details by driving with better/good drivers that can improve your driving. I think there is always room to grow, so I don't think that just because a person is teaching you something means they are better than you at everything. Everyone has their weak points, but it's different for everybody.

This is the whole idea, but in a much more laid back and instructional style with more time at hand compared to something like a WRS.

Couldn't agree more, aliens on here are crazy fast, but this isn't about being fast. You shouldn't take lessons here if you think you can get faster by yourself over time, I mentioned in the first post that if you tried everything you could to improve including practice and joining a racing series and still need something to improve, this MIGHT help. There isn't a guarantee to what these lessons could do, but it might make you realize/see something you didn't notice before. This is no popularity contest, so doesn't matter if this attracts 10 people or 100, as long as this benefits someone. I have fun driving on GT5, might as well get some other good drivers, have fun and learn from each other. 👍

This too. You can learn to be better at a certain area of GT5 in two different ways by practising by yourself, which is very boring, or you can learn with others who are experienced in the area that you want to learn about. You can use their techniques they teach you and then you can apply it to your own driving style.

Track specific - Nurb

Hope one of you guys can help me out :)

Just moved to a wheel and MT, just need help with lines and consistency.........

I'm interested in learning to drift, but I think I just need a simple walkthrough.
I've got some skill at it, I get gold at all of the DT races.
I just need help "snaking" the turns together and finding the right gears and setup

My classes are open.

PM me for times available.

7. Racing Strategy/Philosophy.

This section, made by McClarenDesign, will guide drivers through various tracks, examining strategy, philosophy, and theory of overtaking and defending. Students will learn common mistakes made, and how to best avoid them. This course will also focus on the psychology of decision making through stimuli and environment, and teach students how to sense where others are around them without actually looking.

Students should already have advanced knowledge of tracks and driving techniques. Tracks will include: Suzuka, Fuji, Daytona Road Course, Mazda Laguna Seca, Monaco, Tokyo R246, and more. Furthermore, drivers should also have an advanced understanding of various vehicle layouts (i.e. FF, FR, MR, RR), as well as a basic understanding of friction circles and weight transfer applications.

Finally, it'll examine various philosophies behind rules and regulations, overtaking/defense, on-track recovery and re-entrance, and sportsmanship.

Instructors for this area:

• McClarenDesign [PSN: McClarenDesign]

Same. PM me to get started.

Thanks to the people that PM'ed me for lessons, hopefully it was helpful, was fun and professional, as expected from GTP. :P

I'm updating the thread with Ryk's track guides, which you may have probably seen in the GT5 section. He's done a great job on them and is a good read for all those who are trying to improve. 👍

Links are in the OP, more from Ryk will be posted soon next week.

Great thread Hollow, I'd like a class on Laguna Seca as well if possible by Denilson.

He was a GT Academy national finalist, most probably would be great at the track and teaching!

I can help you with Laguna Seca, Denilson I don't think is under the Laguna Seca teaching class, PM me if interested :)

I need some help in drifting, nurburgring, driving manual, driving without driving lines especially high pp cars, rallying and driving difficult cars like yellowbird. Not sure how and where to get started.
Have not gone into any online races or lobby to date. Any help is appreciated.

Purpose: student
Area: all of the above in sequence trainers suggest.

Quality post there Dennis, very good points. I'm positive you could teach more than a thing or two about competitive series racing to any ''alien''.

Great idea Hollow, just stick with it and it will surely grow to be a success..👍

I guess that nobody wants drifting lessons? :dunce:

Could use some drifting lessons... pretty good, but could use some help;) add me on PSN? I'm at work atm (PSN: harrison1476)

-Thanks, and also 👍 to LVRacerGT for the help, great guy

I'm guessing that I will be very busy this week, how is this following weekend for some drifting lessons? Also, do you use a wheel or a controller? It will help me in deciding which techniques I should teach you.

well, great question. use a controller right now for DRIFTING, but I have a DFGT, it is insanely hard to drift with a wheel, and that's what I would like help with.
