I drafted out a way to easily plug-in Group B's results. Can anyone get me a replay of it the race? or maybe just give me the fastest quali. time along with the fastest lap (if anyone caught it) to get together a starting grid order and such.

Looked through the NTSC Championship threads and saw results posted, but nothing that I'm really looking for. I'll try to find a report from a real race and base it off of that.

I have the replay file that I can send you. I already exported it to my XMB and it is around 45MB (I think that is right) in size. How would you like me to deliver the file?

Quali P1: iamjamen/BrosifDuder - 58.804
Race Fastest Lap: I think it was filphil89/CoconutComa with a 59.3xx but I will double check when I get out of work.

Played some GP/D in practice mode. I've been trying to learn how to set up the car but I'm completely confused. I have basic ideas as to how softening or stiffening one end of the car would affect it, but it stops there.

Does anyone care to help me out with the tuning?

Hey CoconutComaTron sorry I missed last night. The household stuff I had to take care of took longer than I thought it would and by the time I was done I had to devote some time to the GF because she said she was feeling neglected. I will be on tonight and I can try to offer any insight I might have. I probably won't be that helpful but two idiots changing a light bulb must be better than one idiot building a toy rocket (??? :dopey:).

My GF is here right now, so I know what you mean. 👍

Ironically, I got in to an argument with my sister just now so I probably won't be playing GT5 for a few days. The PS3 is in her room.

The replay file from the replay theatre? That should be less than a mb.

I think it's cute to have come out with that time. None of us really had chances to have a serious speed contest so we never took advantage of the drafts. We've both managed times faster than that. We should definitely try harder on GP/D to bring the B group up to par with the A group in terms of times. 👍

Dethcore - If you read this, tape that remote to the ceiling fan! I imagine that if the events didn't turn out the way it did you would have done much better.

::Edit::

I think it would be a good idea to start a scheduled weekly practice session. This session is NOT required, but it's consistently opened at the time. I remember TT was talking about how in FORZA they met up every X day of the week to practice. WE SHOULD BE DOING THIS!

It'll also give people who didn't qualify a consistent time to drive with us. It's more of a casual get together for SM drivers. Look at all the posts on this forum about casuals, inexperienced, lack of time drivers. I think it's worthwhile.

I think a tuesday or wednesday 9pm EST would be a good time to hold this. I'd like to volunteer myself if there is interest. Also... I could just be out of the loop and all of you could already be doing this. lol.

Send to me too?

Yessir!

I have a quick request for everyone that is a bit off topic so I hope you don't mind Turbo. I am contemplating purchasing a single owner 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XS 5-speed as a second vehicle but the odo reads 220,000+ miles. If any of you have owned or currently own a 2003-2008 Subaru Forester and feel like lending me some FAQ or "must know" knowledge it would be much appreciated. Just PM me so we can keep the thread clear.

I already checked some other forums but thought I would check here too.

Thanks guys!

Have it checked out by a mechanic? Make sure they do a compression test. If it checks out, I wouldn't see any problem buying it. I have a friend that owns a '96 Impreza with over 350,000 miles on it. :D

I am very much in favor of filphil89's scheduled weekday casual open practice session idea. Seems like a fun way to keep up with the series for people who don't qualify or can't make the races, and also a good learning experience for slower drivers.

I'm slow and inexperienced and can't make the regular races... I'll be looking for a room to bang Miata doors later! 👍

Hey guys. Sorry about missing the first race. I am about 80% sure that I will be able to make race 2. Also i will be on momentarily looking for a session.

I'll be heading out to race in a few minutes, hopefully some of ya'll are still around.

Hey Dudes, I re-registered under my PSN name SpecMiata-JSW...every other forum I use has this name so when I kept reading Silvermiata, it became kind of annoying after a while. I registered at this site way before Prologue and forgot about the screen name so the PSN account name and GTP user name never synced.

I just wanted to let you all know that I don't have dual identities anymore. :)

Also, I ran a couple of laps at the Ring last night...this track is going to be awesome to race at, it's got lots of great areas to pass, and some nice straights for drafting. I've got to qualify for a different event tomorrow night, but if you guys are still in the practice room I'll hop on for a few laps.

Cheers!

I'm closing registration since I've had a few people inquire. We'll see how this weekend turns out then I'll decide to re-open it or not.

Wardez - I've been up lately since it's my winter break from college. If you need some practice runs, let me know. I'll probably have some time. Just post up in the thread as I'm sure plenty of people are subscribed to it and are just waiting for someone to open a room.

My personal best on GP/D right now is 1:48.37X. I can't wait for Zissou to post up a video, lol.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll definitely send you a shout when I'm up late in the next few days.

Thanks for those times. I'll be sure to get the exact fastest lap time once I'm done reviewing the B race.
I'm gonna compact the schedule cards I made a little more to fit results from both A and B in the same card. I'm gonna add final tweaks tonight so I don't have to go back to them anymore besides updating them after races.

Upload the replay and send me the link. Easiest way I can think of now is to upload it in a .rar file to Megaupload.com. No registration necessary. Thanks.

Also, did anyone notice I posted this? Seemed to be lost on everyone:

Compiler messed up TT997's color a bit but everything came together nicely. YOu'll recognize the graph if you've ever poured over iRacing stats.

Back to work for me now, I hate these quick lunches, later!

Amazing detail, Wardez. Are you for hire because I might need someone to organize data after I get a datalogger(track use) for my car.

I am starting to get frustrated with the tuning in GT5. Things that are logical for tuning a real life car just don't translate well to the game. I am pretty good at setting up my real life spec miata, but in GT5, the things that the car responds to are so "real world" illogical. No matter what I do, the GT5 Miata pushes. I cannot get it to drive like the real thing that is actually a little tail happy.

Real world Miata set up:
Camber -3.0 front, -2.5 rear
Ride height 4 3/4" front, 4 7/8" rear (slightly lower nose)
Toe -1/16" front and +1/16" rear
Swaybars heavy front 19MM? and softer rear (like half the size)
Shocks and springs are not adjustable

I find that in GT5, things that would send my real world car spinning out of control, don't do much in the game. Have you tried setting rear toe to maximum toe out -100? Or front sway bar to 1 and rear to 7? Or front toe to maximum out -100? I even tried front shocks to 1 compression and 10 rebound to make it act like a real world Nascar front shock. I basically tried evey setting to the max that would give a real world car lots of front grip and no rear and the car responded very little. That is my frustration.

In GT4 the same tuning issue existed for most of the cars. You could max out logical tunes to change front/rear grip and cars would still push. The singe best tuning aid in GT4 was the adjustable diff. Once you added the diff and got it adjusted well, the other suspension adjustments started to respond and became the way to "fine tune" the car.

I wouldn't mind if this series decided to add the diff as an upgrade. It may make all the difference in making tuning closer to realistic. If you do, I will offer to this SM community how to tune the diff so that we all know how it works and will keep the racing close. Since I'm not racing the series, I think I'll add a diff to my car and exeriment to see if it is the same engine as GT4, then report back.

I am having a blast with you guys and the key is the groups of drivers at similar levels. Have you noticed there is a front pack of fast guys, a second pack of good drivers and a third pack of still learning? That is just like the real world SM and what makes it such a popular racing class because you have someone at your level to race with.

I'm not going to allow the differential at the moment. And starting to think that next season (maybe) we will probably switch to the Fixed Sports suspension kit.

Might be a good idea.

Great racing last night! Not my favorite track, but I think I am getting a feel for it. 👍

As a matter of fact, I think I'll Spec out another car tonight using that kit and see where it'll put us.
