Was this with a draft?

Nope, I watched him disappear into the sunset with a 48.1, 48.2, and a 48.2 on the trot.

Edit: In the draft I was easily able to run high 47s.

A message to all the Group B drivers, even though i missed the first race, I could keep up with and even keep ahead of the winner of the first Group B race.

This was while I was unknowingly running Comfort Soft tires and 1:55.0 laps. After I switched to Sport Softs my pace increased a bit...

You mean to tell me those opening laps when you and two others were battling it out, you were on the wrong tires? See why I want to even up Group B a bit?

No I had switched to the correct tires by the time you had gotten into the room. Your first race last night when I won by 15 seconds was a race or two after I realized I had been on Compact Softs.

Coconut, nethereal, Vanos, dethcore, rave2grave and I are all pretty competitive with one another. I was just able to qualify better than all of them and stay out of trouble during Race 1. I also managed my tires better than the majority of the field.

^^^ One open already. :)

Well I had to go. I have a dinner with some friends to go to. I recommend people go to the room TURBO posted.

Did anyone else notice that you when changing settings online it saves now?

I think online settings started saving after 1.05.

Cheers!

Actually Wardez posted it. :)

Also, basically a note to everyone. If you open a room and have to close it for any reason, please edit your post and delete the number. 👍

That explains it. I was getting a bit excited. I finally caved in a bought an '89. Im looking forward to being able to see peoples back bumpers for once.

There are currently three of us in the first room posted by filphil and Wardez was the only one in his room when I checked it out. He wasn't on track and he didn't respond to my mic so I left.

I was there for all of 10 seconds but i had to go.

After two hours of tweaking and finding out how to tune to GT5's quirky system I got a tune a like with an acceptable amount of degradation.

I think in terms of strategy it'd be best to do a longer first stint and aim to end your race on the best tires possible.

It took me a while but I think I've finally gotten down some key techniques you need to know in order to go fast here.

First of all is that sharp, almost hairpinish, turn 1. It pops downhill so I was spinning out so much from trying to attack. I learned to take it easy and now that turn is cake. I like to use that little concrete rumble strip on the left hand side before the kerb starts as my aiming point on exit.

Turn 2's pretty easy and you should be able to go flat out and hit about 70mph as soon as you exit getting up to the kerb leading down to T3.

T3's where I had trouble. This is one of those series of turns you have to sacrifice entry for. Go in slow to set up from a good line going through T4. I go down to about 46mph and hold it til I have a good entry for T5 and just slam it down all the way through. You should hit 60 on exit through to T5

I still don't really have T6 down all the way. I can hold about 48mph going through it but since it's a downhill turn with a weird apex I can't feel comfortably fast. but I'm happy as long as I hit about 52mph when I'm on exit up against that huge kerb on the left (why's that one SO huge?)

Anyway, 7's easy enough. T8 seemd straight forward at first, I would let off and let the car go down to about 74MPH. But I was off throttle for a bit too long. After I learned to feather the brake on entry I was able to attack it more and get through a lot faster. I increased my average speed going up to the Veedol chicane up to 108mph, and that's as soon as I'd brake to go into T10.

Brake early setting up for the last turn and hold 60mph through out and you should be getting there.

My best was a 1:48.566 in my little power hour so I hope to get it up a little more with a little bit more tweaking and patience.

Off to work now, ohhhhhhhhhhhhh man.

Well it won't be me.

Honestly that kind of time is good for qualifying, but unless you can consistently do that through the whole race and keep tire wear down, it's best to go a little more conservative. Remember the first race? :D

hey whoever said they didnt realize there was a giant lake in the background on Trial Mtn. around the last turn or so, this is for you...LOL:

Very, very true.

I went 3 seconds faster tonight than last night just playing with front/rear ride height. Mind you that I'm not as smooth as the 4 or 5 fastest of you, but I did get down to low 1:50 lap times. Some of you may be able to go faster with these setups.

Last night I tried throwing every real world tuning trick at the car to try to get rid of the massive push, but to no avail. I maxed out the settings. Anything I tried only slighly reduced the front end push.

Last nights setup:
Ride height F-15 R-15
Springs F12.5 R5.8
Extention F10 R4
Compression F1 R4
Swaybars F1 R7
Camber F-2.0 R-0.5
Toe F-1.0 R-1.0

The last run of the evening last night I changed front ride height to +45 and rear to -25. That finally made the car totally ass happy and impossible to drive. The ride height adjustment seems to make a HUGE difference and seems backwards to the real world. I found that the higher I put the front ride height, the more front grip I got. This let me go back and fine tune the other adjustments back to more normal looking settings.

Tonights 3 seconds faster setup
Ride height F-5 R-15
Springs F12.5 R5.8
Extention F8 R5
Compression F6 R4
Swaybars F2 R5
Camber F-2.0 R-1.5
Toe F-0.5 R-0.5

For me the car drove very planted in all corners except for two - the exit to the two hair pins. These both drop off down hill and if I wasn't unwinding the wheel enough on exit, the rear of the car would break loose and scrub speed. I think these can be refined a bit more, but are a huge improvement over last night. Feel free to try these setups and let me know what you discover under your driving style.

Edit: This setup also worked very, very well on both Autum Ring and Deep Forest.

I just got back from a 1 show night so I have some time to run a littler earlier this evening.

Any rooms up? If not I'll start one up shortly shorties.

Yeah. I'd love to join you, Wardez. My sister is still mad at me so I won't be able to go in her room and play tonight. lol.

Tell her you're gonna make the PS3 more powerful and let her play DS games but you need to have it overnight for a few weeks to do it. :dunce:👍

Room's up: 1472 6118 3615 5262

Yeah, yeah... leave me alone. I'll never see that crap out there cause I'm too busy focusing on my apex. You guys go ahead and gawk at the scenery all you want.

Ok guys, here's the first press release for the series. Let me know what you like/don't like. What should be changed for next time, etc. The PDF converter I am using is bringing the quality of the photos down, will have to look into it.

Yeah man, great job. Really gets you into it. Well written.

Just fix that image problem and it's good.

Me and Sam just ran a bunch of laps @ the Nurb. Maybe like 60 in total for me and less some for him. Best time I could get was 1.48.3xx. I accidentally cut the chicane while running close with Sam and hit a 1:48.118.
We were both able to run consistently in the 49s and we were getting consistent 48s for a bit while we were following close.

Goodnight!
