Damage off is probably a good idea, but I would let collisions turned on. That way it will still make people try to avoid contact.

Flags on limited would probably be good idea too. Off would be better, but the only problem with that is, it doesnt warn you when someone is off or spun in front of you. Plus it allows for cutting the chicanes with them off. If the flags are on full, then it can become a nightmare with people getting disqualified in the TT. I have seen it done even for spinning out, and going through a chicane while wrecking. It will DQ you for that, and not allow you to race. Same thing happens in the race. With them on limited, its still pretty strict, but a little more lenient and will only issue a warning and not allow that lap time, or it will issue a 5 place grid penalty but not DQ and kick you out of that race. During the race, it gives a 5 or 10 second penalty depending on how bad the infraction was.

Very FUN game online, there is a ton of different things you can set up.

Thankzz so much, any time you think of something please speak up :)

Ya flags are ridiculous. Believe it or not I think some people who make custom GPs online use them to cheat, I was racing 4 others on Brahrain, guy who had teh pole spun out and bc we passed him it gave us all 15 sec penalties, by the 3rd lap we were all pretty neck and neck, but bc he gain those 10 secs he won over all of us -_- It was fisshy bc no one cause him to spin, which I dont get why e'd be penalized for that either

Thankzz again Boss, So now that it’s looking like your our environment knowledge base can you suggest a fun setup for our first race like maybe damage off, etc…. Thankzzz

I was kind of thinking that since the whole race is theme based around the Suzuka weekend maybe an hour after qualifying ends on Sat. The race is showing 14:00 but I don't know if that is GMT, can someone figure out the time it is in GMT, that would be cool.

Qualifiying starts at 0500GMT.

If we did an hour an after qualifying finished, we'd be online at 0700GMT, I'm happy with that.

Do we have any Aussies racing with us?

If the US guys would prefer different time, I suggest something like 1700GMT?

Oh yeah the real race is really early here. I could probably do the old shift time slot lefty. I'd say that would be an ideal time for USA and Europe. I might be able to go an hour or two later than that on full race distance if your up for it. Sorry for earlier by the way.

So 11am Eastern time for US? hmmmm lol id prefer a tad later :P

p.s. This is my 100th post! Im not and Active member!!

Seen similar stuff happen too. Last night was in a private room with friends, one guy wrecked, I was following another through the sector, he spun but stayed on track just sitting sideways. I went past him and of course advanced my position and I got a 10 second penalty for overtaking under local yellow.

One other instance was, I was following a guy he spun but stayed on track too, I quickly turned right to avoid him, went off course a little got a 10 second cutting track and 10 second overtaking under yellow at the same time.

Sometimes I wish there were stewards in this game.

7pm GMT?

So 2PM EST.

Slightly easier for moi, still gives us enough time to do things at a reasonable hour in Europe.

Hi guys

I think "Boss" agrees with “grafpt” that flags are bogus.

I put flags in thinking that they were logical to penalize cheating but if they can be abused and used as a sucker punch then they sound bogus and I don’t think they work to better the experience.

In the former SHIFT league we started at 20:00 GMT which was 12 pm PST, I think 17:00 or 18:00 GMT works for me. I know that Australia won’t like that so I’m open earlier if we need to go that way, I’ll go for what ever the group votes for but no later then 18:00 GMT if we can.

Yep 7pm worked well. 8pm is probably better for some though. I'm not fussed.

I think “akmuk” is down for the old SHIFT scheme (20:00 GMT).
I think “grafpt” votes for around 18:00 GMT
I think “Sureboss” is good for 19:00 GMT

I guess it must be that weird cars find weird drivers. So on a whim because Little Lefty likes the color of the car I decided to give the Force India car a go and it was a match made in purgatory, after many test runs w/ a lot of the top cars it was obvious, that for me, the goofy Force India car just roostys every other car that I have tried so far on Suzuka, so I‘m going to pick the “Weird Herold” Force India, I figured "who whants that thing", but for me the thing just Fn rocks.

I'm a wheel user and 8pm euro time is around 6am my time (+10GMT) as long as it's not too to early. I'll still do it. Just make sure the time is set so I know when to wake up lol .

Im possibly in so add me and we'll see. What race length? full please.

I'll be Red Bull.

I'm a wheel user too.

Perhaps we should arrange the different groups into different timezone races so people don't have to get up insanely early (me, I like sleep to much).

I am really GMT handicapped so I'm trying to understand what you’re saying, If we held the race at 1800 GMT on Sat. would your time be 4am Sunday?

Perhaps we should arrange the different groups into different time zones.

I haven’t had a chance to really get into the online aspects of the setting up lobbies yet or even getting into how long the events can be taken out to but if someone knows how long a race would be w/ 1:45 laps, would you be please let me know so I can look at race lengths of probably 30 minutes minimum. I don’t know if people want hour + racing but I could be wrong, let me know your thoughts. Maybe we could run two half length races and use moto-x scoring to determine the overall winner.

I’m kicking around a couple of different group race schemes, maybe a region deal or D’pad and Wheel groups. I don’t want to step on sensibilities but there may be a stability issue from what I have read. The D’paderz might have a better time w/ AT and some TC, while the wheel jockeys have more access to performing the multiplex tasks of these cars.

---------------------------------- RACE INFO NEEDED -------------------------------------

If everyone can approve my PSN friend request and TT Suzuka I can look at your best lap times and more easily look at groups of equal capabilities so we will have closer racing. Your greatest time racing will be had when you are racing w/ people that are closer to your skill level.

If you post times that are asset handicapped they may not reflect your true “no asset” capabilities unless you are able to run the "no asset" style faster, so you may want to have me adjust your "entry lap time" for proper grouping. Thankzzzzzz

FYI: I have noticed distinct differences in some of the cars so if you don’t get the car that you want you may want to shake down several different cars and save unique set up files for each car so you won’t feel short changed. I decided to go w/ Force India because I thought that no one would argue over that car… lol

In a private room with friends, I think there fine as no one will be looking to exploit it. But in public rooms they can be exploited. Flags on limited IMO is the way to go, it still warns you of accidents ahead, and will give time penalties or warnings for cutting chicanes. Also if you do a illegal block or drive erratic it will warn you.

Thanks Boss, I freaked out when I heard that the flags didn’t have good logic behind them and they could be abused. Your case for them makes sense, I really do want some flag type of monitoring in the race so it sound like there back in as limited mode.

Its not nearly as bad as what your thinking LeftyWright, I have probably done over 100 online races (all in private), and have probably only been bitten by the unwarented penalty 3 or 4 times. Have heard it happen to a couple other people. But its not something that happens all the time.

IMO some sort of flag rules need to be put in place, just to keep some sort of realism to the race. With limited if you just get offline and go a little off track during a chicane it will just warn you as long as your semi close to doing it right. If you blow it, then you get a 10sec penalty. I am not positive on this as I havent seen it happen, but have heard that if you rack up enough penalties it will kick you from the race.

Had something very funny happen Sunday night, within the first 100ft of the race, I racked up a whopping 30 seconds of penalties. We were at Monaco, going into that little chicane right past the start, we wadded up when the leader caught the wall that sticks out on the right. I quickly darted to the right to avoid the wreck, inturn cutting the chicane. When I came out, i got a corner cutting penalty, passing under local yellow, and a illegal overtake. Its almost like there are times, when there is so much stuff happening that game cant comprehend fast enough whats going on. I think most of us wound up with penalties during that moment. Its not something that happens enough to be really concerned with, I just thought you might get a laugh out of that

I think Monaco is just a hair pulling contest and a great place to get frustrated. I might consider it a good place to settle an argument as to who is the better driver but not a good place to learn or hold general racing. It is just to intense and requires the highest level of control.

Agreed, but its so fun flying through the city. Especially down by the harbor. Its pretty much follow the leader and wait for a mistake for the most part. There are a "few" passing zones, but for the most part, its capitalize on mistakes.

I would sooner run Monaco than Shanghai, just something about Shanghai I just cant put together.

I totally understand the evil of a walled in track and the freedom of a track w/ run off, Shanghi is one of those weird tracks that slaps you up side the face and never lets you get comfortable.

I am actually a idiot, I meant Singapore above, not Shanghai. I actually really like Shanghai, even though T11 T12 entry to T13 gives me fits. Quite a difference in lap times depending on how you get through that section.

Oh well you know what they say "they all look the same" .... lol
