So my list is (in no particular order):

No order.

 This is the request in post #1:

Ok, we're going to try to get the VH1 poll right. List your top 20 rock bands of all time in order from 1-20.

Here's my top 20. Until the last 2-3 years of my life I was a bit of a snob for anything which wasn't punk rock, which explains the punk bias in my list. I'm actually very surprised to see a lack of love for The Clash.

  2. Bob Dylan
  3. Bad Religion
  4. Dead Kennedys
  5. Bright Eyes
  6. The Stooges
  7. The Libertines

14. Black Sabbath
15. Led Zeppelin
16. Pink Floyd
17. Bolt Thrower
18. Emperor
19. Jane's Addiction
20. Blue Oyster Cult

Basically just a list of bands I like really, added some variety near the end with Bolt Thrower (death metal) and Emperor (black metal).
Mostly hard rock focused, as a member of the Maiden fanclub, its kind of my duty to put them number 1 :P.
I'm a little shocked The Beach Boys are not on the list but the Beatles are....

I got some free time so I might as well make a list. As you can probably tell by the list, I prefer mostly older stuff. To me, music for the most part died around 1990 when (IMO) it became less about the music and more about the singers/bands images.

I tried to put these in order:

1. Roy Orbison
2. The Four Seasons
3. Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
4. The Beatles
5. The Beach Boys
6. REO Speedwagon
7. U2
8. R.E.M.
9. Journey
10. Foriegner
11. Meat Loaf
12. The Eagles
13. Elvis
14. Paul McCartney
15. Badfinger
16. Buddy Holly and the Crickets
17. Rolling Stones
18. Bruce Springsteen
19. Creedence Clearwater Revival
20. Linda Rondstadt

I think they are British, damnnear an unknown in the States. I think one of their songs were featured in Gran Turismo....

Yup, they're British, and they've had many songs in Gran Turismo games.
