Well, I guess I am... living in Munich and having half the family working at BMW has some kind of impact, I suppose. And I've always had at least one BMW in the garage, so there's that.

And a few months ago I decided not to drive any japanese cars in GT5 anymore - granted, that brings down the list of cars considerably, but there are still more than enough. ;-)

lol

Hi, not sure if I will be able to make tomorrows race hopefully I will but have to attend something which won't be over until 6:30. I might be able to make it back in time for the 7:00 race start but it will depend on traffic. Hope I can make it back in time as was really looking forward to racing on the Top Gear track.

I want some competition so I see no reason why we can't practice abit longer and then quali after you arrive

Thanks will try to make it home as soon as possible hopefully won't keep you guys waiting too long.

Its an open lobby as a room type test for the race tonight guys.

1472 - 6118 - 3744 - 3749 - 3584

I hope to see you on the track.
P.S. if the no shows don't start showing then the no shows are going to turn into no go's because I will remove them from the series

Nice race - I liked the length, finally suited my driving style and my car (btw, thanks for the chance to change it, it is still too slow for any shorter race though...).

Since there was some confusion about the people attending the race, there were 9 cars in the qualifying, one guy (noo something) got kicked but Blaze only came into the race after the qualifying, so the actual cars in the first lap of the race were:

- cobra64x
- nascar75
- mu675
- golfer199
- xX-SINz-StATiK-X
- Jamman58
- Blaze_409
- kirk1701a
- hessi_bitsundso

Only 4 finished - that says a lot...

And btw, every time I was behind Blaze he cut the Hammerhead, went from the left and just took it as a normal 180° right-hand corner. He still showed some amazing driving and definitely earned his 2nd place, but if he would have overtaken Kirk in the end it would not have been fair IMHO.

Thanks for the good race, see you next time - maybe with a headset at that point, the three I've tried so far just don't work with the PS3. :-(

Great race tonight everyone the first corner wher there was about four of us side by side and turning in together was crazy. I was surprised that tires lasted longer on impreza than the focus as last week tire wear was identical between the two cars and when they eventually did run out I was about 15s per lap slower. The only change I made this week were some suspenion tweaks to help dial down the understeer and help even tire wear. Also mapped the live dynamics to d-pad on controller to allow me to adjust power distribution between front/rear during race.

Lol. Early in the race i was following kirk(or another vehicle) and i think he did it it at the beginnning too so i did it. I wasnt going to pass for the win.
I was trying to see if he would make a mistake which he did not.

When i was actually trying to close in on him i kept getting held up because of lapped cars. I even got taken out twice at the follow through by lapped cars...:ouch:

Everyone knows that it is Eiger Nordwand in the wet on Sunday?
Btw, if I organized a Tskuba Tuesday where every Tuesday we all turn up at Tskuba (My favourite track) and do some racing following random regulaitons. We can have PP limits, car class, cat and mouse. all sorts. Would anyone support me?

Changed my mind about that. Its a silly idea. What I'm going to do instead is after this series ends I will not re-run it for a while (I know you are all commiting suicide over that) but instead I am going to run a rallycross championship. That will be fun. And since its RX, I'm gona allow contact but not OTT contact where you just use other cars as your brakes

Yeah looking forward to Eiger in the wet this Sunday should be fun at least it wont be like last weeks F1 race which had to be stopped for two hours while track was cleared. I would also probably take part in a weekly rallycross championship if one is being organised after this event as I hardly ever play offroad events in GT5 so would make a change.

Has anyone tried running any laps on racing wets around Eiger yet to get any idea how long there tires are lasting. I was trying some laps tonight to see how much I needed to adjust the gearing and tire wear rate on Impreza using the setup from the Top Gear race was through the roof. I was able to completely destroy a set of racing wets in 8-9 laps should make running 45 racing laps interesting. :scared:

I have a feeling that the race could end up a repeat of the pre-season race for me where I wreck my tires and spend rest of race struggling. Might try to play around with car some more on Saturday to see if I can find a better setup for race.

The award for most series preparation goes to Sylar. I only drove a lap of Eiger in the fry. One lap. In a Fireblade. Not good. Havent even developed a set up. Just done the new seasonals. And I didnt even know it was 45 laps

The track may change on the night based on the sorts of figures that people are getting for tyre wear. Potential replacements: Nur GP/D or Grand Valley short

Oh damn, when Top Gear returns, the races will have to start at 6.30 so that they are finished before Top Gear

I found a setup yesterday which makes tire wear manageable in the wet and comparable to the other races we ran so I should be able to get to the end on a single set of tires now if we are still running Eiger. Had to pretty much reverse the setup I was using last week as unlike first two races where fronts were wearing out first causing understeer on worn tires here the rears were wearing out about 3x faster than the fronts. So by changing from the 30-70 power distribution, and adjusting the roll bars, spring rate and dampers so that car naturally understeers was able to even out the wear rates. Also discovered something else which seems to help tire wear in the wet.

Floating?

Also, due tot the staggering length of the Eiger pit lane I think we might do GP/D

CAN EVERYONE ASK (BEG) EVERYONE ON THEIR FRIENDS LIST TO ATTEND THIS RACE AND ALL THE OTHERS

Room open for pre-race practice:
1472 6118 4216 8216 2717

Sports hard tires. As they still have some tread unlike racing slicks they can still provide enough grip in the wet to be usable and as they are made from a harder compound than full racing wets they tend to have better durability.

Good race everyone. I got myself disqualified but oh well. Blaze has been consistent and due to a change in the way points positioning is calculated is 3rd overall at the moment. We need to catch Kirk. He is too clever. Others have the speed. He has the brains. I have also tweaked the spreadsheet a bit more to allow the option of DNF and DISQ for the race results so as not to error your points or have a finish position of 0

Yeah great race tonight everyone was really close between Jamman48 and me for the win those last few laps I felt like Vettel in Monaco where he was on tires which had completed more laps than anyone thought there were ever capable of with Button closing quickly in on him in second place with much fresher tires looking for the win.

Had to try something different tonight as Impreza wasn't quick enough to compete with the Bentleys and other LMP. As were were allowed to change cars took a gamble with the FGT even though longest I had previously even run it on a single set of tires before was only about 15 laps. Also from the qualifying looked like fuel would be an issue as only had enough fuel for 40 laps at normal pace.

Spent first 30 laps just trying to conserve tires and fuel while going fast enough to stay close enough to Jamman48 to jump him when he came in for fresh tires and fuel. Then after his final stop just hoping that I could stay in front and make tires last while Jamman48 would burn out his catching back up to me again. By the end of the race was surprised to have about 25% tires and fuel left.

One thing this series is that its really helping with is learning how to better manage tires throught a race. I would never have though it would have been possible to complete 45 laps in FGT before with a single set and still have that much left.

All in all, it was a nice race, but the 'guests' and their lack of discipline regarding driving and especially pitting was annoying.

Nonetheless, congratulations to Sylar, excellent performance with the FGT - who'd have thought its tyres would last that long?

I've definitely had it with the Audi now, it's already about 20% faster than the 120d but still in a completely different league to all you guys and the races aren't long enough to make up for in endurace capabilities. I found a nice car in the UCD yesterday that should be more competitive (not Bentley-like, but at least the Renault should be in its range), so expect me to be less in the way next week.

Did anyone else think that the tyre shredding this week was more brutal than usual? Could be the track, but someone mentioned in the chat that the new patch might have something to do with it - has anyone done any testing and could confirm whether 1.10 changed anything regarding tyre performance or longevity?

Yeh big screw up from me despite using my two wildcards. I knew the tyre wear had taken a massive increase from the update so I had to do two stops. 2nd still isn't bad but without several incidents during the race and traffic not getting in the way it would've been a lot better. Congratulations to Kirk though. I was very surprised about the FGT's tyre wear. After my first pitstop I came out 2nd, 15 seconds behind Kirk and I managed to pass him and make a 30 second gap. So at that point I thought his tyres were gone. But he was just been clever. Made me complacent.

Guys, on sunday, the race will begin at 6.30PM Britain time, and will hopefully end around 7.30 Britain time. This is due to the return of Top Gear to TV. If you can't make this time please inform me. If there are enough people who can't make it then the normal time will return and I will V+ Top Gear
