This week, we will be doing the datsun Z car. The style should be clean, but competative. something that you could take to the track, and then to a big VIP-only party the next day. go nuts with mods and paint schemes but keep the car in good taste.

i would like to note that these competitions will be on a strict week, week-and-a-half schedule. these competitions will not turn into what we went through with week 10.

Judging should not only be made by how good the car is replicated, but how original the artist's design is, how creative the changed elements of the car are, etc.

I'd like to thank you all for accepting me as the new Head, and with that being said...

Lets get to drawing!

If you guys are going to enter this comp, for everyone out there, please, let your voices be heard. I don't like this place being so stale! It's the main attraction of these forums for me!

Ok Omnis. Gimme my dollar. :) I'm entering and this one's gonna be a whole lot better than my Porche drifter. I already have most of the prelim inking done so all I have to do is use a clean sheet of paper and ink it one last time then I can commence the coloring. You said to make it look like somthing I could take to the track and then bring to a VIP event and I did. You'll see it when I'm done. hehe

Ok. Here's my version of the 240Z. I kinda don't like the color scheme :yuck:, but that's what came to me at the time so I'm stuck with it :indiff:. Whatever. I still like it 👍.

Ok guys, I need some input!

Which concept should I pursue, 'A' or 'B' ?

or.. if you think I should drop these ideas immediately, and whip up a realism sketch.. u tell me! :dunce:

I personally like A better, looks like a cross between the rear of a 575 and the front of the new (racey) TVR. But it doesn't look much like a 240, so I think you should use B for the competition as it looks a lot like a 240 and it's a good drawing anyways.

I dont intend to enter the comp with that specific drawing. Was looking for suggestions on which to refine~ from your opinion it looks as though I need to stick to the classic look, than rather create a new one

riplox...you entry looks more british to me....like an aston mixed with a TVR.

however, it is indeed a fine entry. we have to wait and see who wins though.

come on and get your entries in people!

and shima, im digging version A. futuristic. lol.

i was really hoping for a present day version of the original though...kinda like how you can see really sweet R32's and stuff around. not vintage, but not futuristic.

you know, looking back, both A and B suck. i've come up with a new groundwork, and i'll display it as a final entry within the next 2-3 days. i really enjoy these comps, they get my mind off things.

i just drew the nose of one..... i'll have it up in a few minutes after i scan it.. :dunce: (at school between finals)

I like it a lot! A hotrod with the Z spirit. Maybe you could incorporate the classic Z hood bulge to give it more of a "Z feel".

dark and dino: i dont really see how those 2 cars capture the essence of the 240z.

dark...come on, a hotrod? topic wasnt a hotrod, lol (but you gave me a damn good idea. thanks.) you have the style down though....its bossed up and beefed out.

dino, that car looks a little TOO tracked out, like it isnt street legal. but im digging the actual drawing/coloring.

its all in good spirits though, no offense meant....im just giving an honest critique.

2 more days, guys!

no rules saying it had to be street legal.. rules only state there has to be some essence of the original car in there.

well you cant take a le mans car to a party. lol.

its cool though. next time i will be more specific. dark, i liked your old one better.

suzg, the whole thing was to make a modified Z. it still needs to be a Z though, and when people see it they should be able to say, holy crap thats an awesome 240z.

i was trying to suggest to dark that a hotrod isnt a Z. joe blow is going to walk down the street and say, cool...a hotrod, not, cool....a 240z.

again, im not trying to rip anyone, because the drawings are great in their own right. i guess i just didnt make myself clear enough.

1 more day.
