Thanks for the vid. I learned a ton :sly:

No problem :) Makes it worthwhile ;)

Unfortunately couldn't make practice as I got tied up with other commitments and I have to sleep now :) Should get a few laps in before the race just to check fuel and everything 👍

Fun practice guys. 👍

Those test races were insane! If only Twissy would start in the back in the real races we'd be able to hold him off for a while.

Looking forward to the carnage races tomorrow.

PS> Be mindful of track boundaries... if you make a mistake and overrun a corner/exit make sure to adjust and not make a pattern out of it. I'll post some reminder pics showing problem areas at GP/D.

OK, they're already in the time trial post, but just to reinforce... the following pictures show dirty runs:

To repeat the message from Spa if we see repeated abuse we will issue a time penalty of 15 or 30 seconds or even DQ depending on the level/frequency of abuse.

Lovely pictures :)!

Was great fun and I've finally got the understeer out of my car to :D!! Looking forward to the racing tomorrow :)!!

Yeh, if the race is anywhere near as fun as those little practice races, it should be a total blast. Gunna work a bit more on my pace tomorrow before race.

As a hint to everyone who is racing tomorrow, the slipstream is actually quite strong. If (like me) your pace isn't quite as fast as others, the slipstream will keep you up with other guys quite easily, so I think it will be a close race.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong lol. Where exactly do I join?

If you have added the 3D3 accounts on your friends list, go: Community, find the 3D3_Main in the list of friends, and click on the coffee cup. You will see everyone who is in the lobby from there.

Keep in mind that this account will be "offline", but its lounge is open for people to join.

Alright thanks a lot

Thanks for the car WRP001. It's a bit slow but I guess it could be the driver :-) Good to see another familiar face from GT4 days (Hi Jerome). I went for a first practice run yesterday and struggled to get much under 1:42 so I guess I'm going to be back marker again today.

Which lounge is used for practice ... I was in the GTP_3D3Racing lounge yesterday 5-6PM PST and didn't see a soul?

That's the right lounge.

The EU practice slot always has a lot of traffic, but the NA practice slots are sparse. To be honest our NA participation as of late is sparse all around. Look at the grids from the Greatest hits... not too many NA flags there. :(

I was in the GTP_3D3Racing lounge late yesterday (by myself) from about 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM Pacific and there were others in the lounge right after 6:00 PM according to the thread. I have family commitments and I cannot participate between 4:30 PM and 8:30 PM Pacific -- except on Wednesdays of course. :sly: The three time zones really make it hard to get everyone together.

If you can run 1'42 flat solo and hang on in the draft you can run 1'41.5 in the race following another driver... This little beast really gives a aero tug on the straights and should keep the racing close. Make a mistake and lose the draft however and it's lights out.

Hey buddy! Long time, hope all has been well 👍 I was struggling to get under 1:41. I spent about 45 min and was hitting 1:41.2xx nearly every lap so I think I'm ready for the race. It sounds like the draft can make up some time, nice.

Back in the day for the WRS, in FF cars we were allowed to put harder tires on the car should we choose to, to help with turn-in, is that something we can do for the live race, or does it have to be all S3's?

You have to use the specified tires and parts exactly as described in the details post. It's a tuning unrestricted event so you can adjust aero settings, tranny, suspension, LSD, but you can't make up for any lost PP due to dropping aero by adding anything else.

PS> If you are running 1'41.2 nearly every lap you won't need to worry about faster drivers in the NA race I suspect. It's a different story in EU where I know from yesterday Twissy is running mid/low 1'40s... My best laps are low/mid 1'41s without any draft assists. I may be trying to hang onto you with the draft.

PPS> Make sure you are running your test/practice laps online with "FAST" tire wear and real grip reduction. The car is a good second faster with tire wear off (or offline where the tire wear model is different). Those time trial laps of 1'39 won't be seen in the race. Maybe at the beginning of the 2nd stint with low fuel if one driver is drafting another at that point, but not solo or during qualification.

Sounds fine, just checking thanks man.

The main lounge (GTP_3D3Racing) is open for pre-race practice.

So I am watching your playback over and over again and I noticed something I never noticed before in my driving compared to yours. Here it is:

This may sound silly to you pros out there but I saw how breaking can destroy a turn. By letting go of the brake in the turn I'm now able to hit every single apex I aim for. Call it my moment of zen or whatever but I finally got it. Shred seconds of, yes seconds...off nearly every lap.

Thanks again Bandit. 👍 and Rookies WATCH THIS PLAY BACK!

Thanks, glad it helped you so much :) Hopefully we will see you start to move up the divisions soon 👍

Looks like I have to cancel today as well 👎 Besides having to rewire our surround sound apparently there is a 'spring cleaning list' I must attend to. Hopefully next week guys, sorry.

Awesome Race guys, absolutely awesome :)!

Was a very close start, and very close battles (1 reason why I love the more stable cars means really really close racing :D!). I made a little mistake during the first battle and pretty much just lost out on the leading pack but me and tim were just keeping up. I won't spoil it all though hopefully some replays coming from people :D! But epically close finish haha!

With regards to my personal pace it was initially quite difficult still getting into the 40's with limited practice but managed it later in the race, finally learning the car think a .7 from me was the fastest on my own!

Once again awesome racing, and can't wait for more!

My Setup:

Great racing is right! Congratz Twissy... Tidgney almost got a win in his first 3D3 event... doesn't get much closer than that. Tidgney did get fastest race lap. 👍

Hope you guys saved the replay as there should be some nice shots for the photo of the week contest this week.

Starting about 15 minutes after the EU race I've been getting an error.

A connection to the server could not be established.(ID=1:536)

Let's hope this clears up before the NA race.

I'll be away until about 30 minutes prior to the race and will need someone else to set up the lounge. I would normally set it up very early before I leave, but can't do it due to this error.

I should be able to set up the room tonight!

Quick Pic from the race... (not my entry)... Hope we get 6 tonight so we can do another!

Lap 31/32 coming out of the last chicane, when suddenly, the phone rings. I think nothing of it. My brother knows I'm racing so he goes to answer. Upon answering, I hear two beeps; the first is him pressing the talk button, the other comes from GT5 telling me I've been disconnected.
The phone cut out my internet for a short time, but long enough for me to retire from the race. 👎

In other news, looking forward to tonight, hope I can actually finish this one :)

Edit: Can someone send me their replay please? I would love to get some nice shots. Thanks in advance

Good to see James got some competition now. :sly:

Great result for you as well Tim 👍

I won't be able to race tonight. The new dog can't go more than about 45 mins without having to piss and he learned how to break out of the brand new kennel today while I was at work. Hope the sever issues clear up for you guys.
