GTP WRS-Online : Special X - (Al)berto's Monza Adventure - Dec 2

Cool. I missed the part where snowgt said it was understeering. Now it makes sense.

It's a shame they completely deadened the impact of ride height. It was the only thing besides the tranny I actually new how to tune.

I'm glad they did - adjusting ride height should have little to Zero effect on a car's ability to turn. Seriously.., dropping the front and rasing the rear (well, rear / front with the old 'backward' PD physics) a few centimetres would do nothing for a real car to improve turning. It's more of a centre of gravity adjustment and should be as low as possible at all times without bottoming out so corner speeds are improved.

Litchi and I are still running some laps at Monza if anyone wants to join.

EDIT: Out of the lounge now, but ran an 8 lap race with Litchi. It's going to be intense and take full concentration for this race... at least in the Zonda. The 200 meter brake marker (the first marker) is not enough even when under the full influence of draft. I suggest everyone note at least two brake markers for most turns... solo and under draft because there is a great difference on this track w/zoneda... much more than usual. Break very early and feather into apex is about the only way to safely manage it. Very scared if there are three going into a high speed corner. Should be fun though.

I was wondering if there is enough intrest to do a full practise (2.4hrs) on saturday night/sunday morning. After the academy arround 02.00GMT I would start a full race practise. Offcourse anyone can join, and you do not have to finish the race if you don't want to. Please post here if intrested.

I would be, but 2 AM GMT will not work for me, sorry.

Thanks for all your input on how to improve the setup.

I now found one that I feel much better with, but I'm not being any faster with it, go figure. It should help consistency in any case as the car doesn't feel like a plank with a 600hp-engine anymore. Actually, it makes sense that not much time is to be gained here, because even with the understeering setup, if you get it right, it's just as fast - it's just harder to get it right.

Anyway, it feels much more lively turning in now. The setup uses negative front toe, which might or might not corroborate the theory behind it - I never quite understood why toe does what it does anyway.

17.00 or 18.00 GMT would also work for me, but I guess for the NA people this timeslot is not possible....

Why would 17:00 GMT not be possible for NA? Isn't that noon eastern on a Saturday? I'm not 100%, but the time isn't generally bad.

If you choose the mentioned timeslot, count me in. Learned a lot in the last enduro practice and had a lot of fun with you guys. Hope it works out Frank 👍

Yes it is, noon eastern on saturday, just guessed that would be to early in the day, but I am all for it if there is intrest, it would have to be 17.00GMT as I am opening the Academy room at 20.00GMT.

So I guess it's up to the drivers if 17:00 GMT can get enough interest. Let us know people.

I will try to make it, but may jump out half way at the driver change... but only if there are a couple other Zonda drivers at least. I need practice racing within class.

I will be driving the Zonda aswell 👍

Driver registration: Full practise Monza (2.4hr) | Saturday 11/24 @ 17.00GMT

  1. GTP_Racingworld - Zonda
  2. GTP_WRP001 - Zonda - 50% and probably half distance

NOTE: if we don't get enough interest at this time (due to it being too early in EU) we could consider Friday 11/23 at a later GMT time (e.g. 21:00)... Friday is a national holiday here in the US so unless you work in retail or are going "black friday" shopping people might be home.

Darn it, I would so love to join you but I am still teaching karate at that time in the morning.

Still only 3 doing the simulation race? I'm probably going to skip it if we don't get a few more.

If there are not more people who want to do a simulation, I will not run the race....

Instead I will be in the 3d3 lounge for an extreme practise :)

Nice and clean quali's by Tim and Daniel. Pretty close coming out of Ascari Tim, but well handled. Both nice lap time's.

Welldone 👍

Thanks Frank. I was a little concerned about the "cleanliness" of lap 1 so I made sure not to take any chances on lap 2. Lap 1 turned out to be clean, but didn't allow me to go all out for lap 2 which I would have done had it not been close. In any case I'll take it and can now shift my effort to longer stints and consistency. 👍

The deadline to quali in the Zonda is tomorrow at 10:00 PM Pacific and I'm the only one who's qualified yet. :scared:

Sorry Frank for not showing up, been sick as a dog all week and haven't even turned on my ps3 since last weekend.
