I also did not start this game with the GTP_ tag.

How about GTP petitions PD to release the copy protected save and allow it to be transferred to another account, even if its forced to be a local transfer (between accounts on the same PS3 only)?

Just to get it straight, do I send in my times and then get my tag or book my tag first?

Hi tjaartn and welcome to GTPlanet.

Yes, get your GTP tag first.

This should help clear things up for you and was part of Sjaak's post just a few posts ago.

And welcome back chukabilly, good to see you here.

Is there any reason at all why we all have to use GTP_ tags other than marketing? It was a hassle in GT5P, but now with GT5 it has become an outright obstacle and for what?..

So..?

If more members make some noise about it then maybe it will change. Then again ' Feel free to express your opinion, but our current position will not be changed by it' - EDK... So what members want has no impact upon what decisions are made it seems. Make me wonder who the WRS is run for and to what end.

Either way as a simple member of this forum and of the registry I wish to express my desire that they system change, even if it is futile. That was not discussed earlier.

So... the issue at hand is that you are a "simple" member. The WRS is catered to the individual who is looking for friendly, well organized, ALMOST warranted competition between other like minded individuals. It's not for the faint of heart to make a GTP_Specific account, send cars between the two accounts(one being primary), and submit replays to confirm times. That dedication to competition is what really separates a regular member from a GTP_member. A GTP_member will also have a higher chance of being a respectful player. These tiny benefits are what attract people. Some feel that they don't need these benefits and, I agree, it's a bit over the top. I will, however, dedicate myself to the others willing to dedicate themselves to these inconveniences for the same great play experience.

So your basic argument is that the more difficult it is to compete with other GTP members the better the quality of the experience? I don't buy it. Plus who ever said that GTP wants an elite little competition? The divisions imply that it is open to all, so why make it so hard to enter?

Maybe if it were easier to enter more than an insignificant fraction of the member base might compete.

Well said and I couldn't agree with you more. If you want to do the WRS you have to put in the effort.

I'm going to start my GTP_ login run at all golds in everything and my little kid will have to gold up all the leftovers in my main account. Come on GTP Registry qualifier I can't wait to sink my teeth into the qualifier challenge.

Track suggestion: Nürburgring GP.

It is a very demanding course but not so extreme like the Nordschleife. Also, it is a non Prologue track. It would be a great choice for the qualifiers!

I agree that the Nurburgring GP circuit would be a great benchmark.

Is it likely that the qualifier will start before GT Academy begins on December 20th? I'd like to compete in it with GTP_sl3ight, as well as see other GTP members on the leaderboards.

Well, I'm new to this whole online racing league business, and I figured I'd give it a shot. So now I'm sitting in front of my TV, and after having figured out how to create a second PSN account to add the GTP_ prefix, I learn that I need another email address to do it. That's a deal-breaker for me, sad to say. If you want to encourage new people to join (and aren't afraid of diluting the quality of the experience in the process), you really should make it simple for people to join. I'm sure I'm not the only one who only has one email account, and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that it's kind of ridiculous to have to jump through so many hoops just to join in some friendly competition.

The dilution of quality argument seems to be a variation of the old conundrum: Now Hiring, X-years of experience required. How are we supposed to get experience if the only way to get in is to have experience? We gotta learn somewhere... This is just my opinion, I'm not trying to flame anyone.

amazing how easily all of this could be fixed by PD patching in an option to name yer frickin driver. or is PSN so stupid that it can't handle such a basic option as an alias?

Seriously? You won't join because you need another e-mail account? To be honest, the fact that such minor things are putting people off show that they will probably not be comitted to WRS anyway. It's nothing to do with quality and experience, you just need a bit of comittment, to me making a second e-mail address (which I never even look at) and a second account was hardly an arduous task. This has been the case ever since the GT5p WRS anyway.

I don't see why this is still being discussed, the WRS is a competition run by GTPlanet race admin and, like any competition, has rules which all competitors must agree to. Those rules have been set and use of a GTP tag is one of them, some will agree with the rules, some will not. That's life. If you don't agree, then don't take part and do one of the other series on the forum or even run your own. It is very selfish to expect the organisers and current competitors to change just because it doesn't suit you. If people really want to take part, they will, if they think its too much hassle they won't, end of.

This thread is starting to sound like one of the GT5 threads with people whinging and reitterating the same thing over and over again.

/Rant over

Andy, you couldn't have hit the nail on the head more

If you "cant be arsed" to create a new email address, gift a car every now and again, setup a new PSN account or any other little 2 minute detail it takes to get a GTP_tag up and running, then OLR definatly isn't for you.

If you don't want to setup a GTP_tag then how on earth are you going to run WRS and other events run here. We had people last time sign up for an account and never even bother use it.

Some of us have been racing WRS 3x longer than you have even been a member of this forum.

Its not that simple, you can only gift 1 car per day, plus you have to unlock tracks.. and at the end of the day its only hotlaps anyway. We dont even have proper online racing. What use is the name for online lobby participation when the WRS is all about hotlaps anyway.

Sure if you could just copy your save over then it wouldnt be a problem, but you cant. A good racer is a good racer with or without a GTP tag infront of their name.

How long people have been a member is irrelevant to this conversation. Facts are facts. Just because some have been running WRS longer than me and clocked many many more laps isn't an issue. I've confused before that I don't run much WRS so yes, you probably do have more running time than me. This doesn't exclude the fact that I know the format very well and have run multipule online competitions on this forum. And the fact that l've run more online laps in GT5:P than 95% of this forum. I'm an expirence member thank you.

Yes you can only gift on car per day, but this can be worked around. If you know a new week of WRS is coming up and a car will need to be gifted, then you just don't gift.

And this topic is about the whole GTP_tag, not just WRS. If people aren't happy with setting up a second account that takes all of 10 minutes maximum, then are they really going to bother with putting time and effort aside for competitions the Race Admin Team has spent days setting up....

GTP = WRS?

We cant have one without the other.

I dont want to get into fights over who has done what.. Ive been apart of the GTP "race admin" team before...

Anyway it seems the only way to race WRS is to make a GTP account. It has been made clear 👍. Make one or leave.

I cant exactly abandon now after 7yrs. So I will make some GTP address and show up for the qualify 👍

I am so glad I only have the one account, laziness does pay off.

I don't see an issue with cars, there's more than enough time to sort that out, I think the bigger issue is the unlocking of tracks, well, TGTT and 'Ring, but they can be done fairly quickly on another account.

Tbh, the WRS made me play GT5P for a year longer than I would otherwise have and I have no doubt I'll be using it right up until GT6 comes out because we have so many variations. For me those two reasons would be enough to make me work GT5 on a second account and work with the Tag.

Edit: I also think it'd be useful to set up a WRS Trading thread, whereby people give others cars for the upcoming events and nothing else, that might help matters and give a good vibe to the event.

If you don't like the rules you don't have to take part.
