GTP_andrewyhy vs GTP_MARSHALL
The 1 on 1 race between GTP_MARSHALL and I was done last night, GMT 7:10pm.
As the race was held on the Japanese server, there were only 2 of us entering the race together, so we didn't need to pull over to the side and wait for 30 seconds before we got started.
Throughout the 10-lap race, there were quite a number of lead changes indeed. 👍
Lap 1 - As I started on grid 1, I took the advantage and started leading in front. There were only a gap of a few hundredths to tenths between us throughout the lap and MARSHALL overtook me at the chicane (turn 10 and 11), chasing me down from 0.369 secs to 0.068s! 👍 So I started chasing behind him and shortened the gap gradually before the main straight.
Lap 2 - It was just a mere 0.045s between our cars when crossing the start/finish line on lap 2 and MARSHALL overtook me again before turn 1. So I back off a bit and stayed in his slipstream and waited for another chance. The gap between our cars stayed under 0.200s throughout the lap.
Lap 3 - I wanted to stay in MARSHALL's slipstream on the main straight but he escaped to the pit side and widened the gap to 0.3s in sector 1 and I pushed hard to chase behind him and again back to his tail right after the chicane. And the dogfight continued till the main straight again - crossing the start/finish line by a gap of 0.015s, with MARSHALL on the clean line and me on the inside!
Lap 4 - After turn 1, I managed to take the lead again and led by 0.130s at section 1. Then, I continued pushing hard and stayed away from MARSHALL's pressure and had a lead of 0.816s at the main straight.
Lap 5 - I managed to stay in front and pulled a gap of 1.516s and started lap 6.
Lap 6 - My leading advantage continued till the chicane, where I overshot myself and ran wide at turn 10. The gap between me and MARSHALL were then shortened so quickly and with my slipstream on the main straight, our gap became under 0.5s (0.419s) again! 👍
Lap 7 - MARSHALL overtook me once again right after crossing the start/finish line with the help of my slipstream and took the lead. And we kept dogfighting and got side by side on the main straight (same as lap 3 ).
Lap 8 till the end - The gap was again a mere 0.014s and I took the inside when entering turn 1, but failed to overtake this time. I was starting to get nervous at that time as there weren't much time left for me to fight back. However, I was surprised when I saw MARSHALL's M3 spinning off the racing line after turn 3 (touching a bit of grass when exiting that corner)! So I managed to take the lead after MARSHALL's accidental spin and led till the end and won by 4+ seconds (Total race time: 17'36.XXX for myself and 17'41.XXX for MARSHALL).
=======================================
MARSHALL, thanks so much for the great battle mate! I really enjoyed the race! 👍
And thanks a million for giving me a chance to participate in this GTP official event, I really enjoyed it a lot! 👍
I'm trying to buy a PAL copy of Prologue recently through my friend and hopefully I can get the game before the next round.
