GTP_andrewyhy vs GTP_MARSHALL

The 1 on 1 race between GTP_MARSHALL and I was done last night, GMT 7:10pm. :)

As the race was held on the Japanese server, there were only 2 of us entering the race together, so we didn't need to pull over to the side and wait for 30 seconds before we got started.

Throughout the 10-lap race, there were quite a number of lead changes indeed. 👍

Lap 1 - As I started on grid 1, I took the advantage and started leading in front. There were only a gap of a few hundredths to tenths between us throughout the lap and MARSHALL overtook me at the chicane (turn 10 and 11), chasing me down from 0.369 secs to 0.068s! :dopey:👍 So I started chasing behind him and shortened the gap gradually before the main straight.

Lap 2 - It was just a mere 0.045s between our cars when crossing the start/finish line on lap 2 and MARSHALL overtook me again before turn 1. So I back off a bit and stayed in his slipstream and waited for another chance. :sly: The gap between our cars stayed under 0.200s throughout the lap.

Lap 3 - I wanted to stay in MARSHALL's slipstream on the main straight but he escaped to the pit side and widened the gap to 0.3s in sector 1 and I pushed hard to chase behind him and again back to his tail right after the chicane. :D And the dogfight continued till the main straight again - crossing the start/finish line by a gap of 0.015s, with MARSHALL on the clean line and me on the inside!

Lap 4 - After turn 1, I managed to take the lead again and led by 0.130s at section 1. Then, I continued pushing hard and stayed away from MARSHALL's pressure and had a lead of 0.816s at the main straight.

Lap 5 - I managed to stay in front and pulled a gap of 1.516s and started lap 6.

Lap 6 - My leading advantage continued till the chicane, where I overshot myself and ran wide at turn 10. :scared: The gap between me and MARSHALL were then shortened so quickly and with my slipstream on the main straight, our gap became under 0.5s (0.419s) again! 👍

Lap 7 - MARSHALL overtook me once again right after crossing the start/finish line with the help of my slipstream and took the lead. And we kept dogfighting and got side by side on the main straight (same as lap 3 :D).

Lap 8 till the end - The gap was again a mere 0.014s and I took the inside when entering turn 1, but failed to overtake this time. I was starting to get nervous at that time as there weren't much time left for me to fight back. :nervous: However, I was surprised when I saw MARSHALL's M3 spinning off the racing line after turn 3 (touching a bit of grass when exiting that corner)! So I managed to take the lead after MARSHALL's accidental spin and led till the end and won by 4+ seconds (Total race time: 17'36.XXX for myself and 17'41.XXX for MARSHALL).

=======================================

MARSHALL, thanks so much for the great battle mate! I really enjoyed the race! 👍

And thanks a million for giving me a chance to participate in this GTP official event, I really enjoyed it a lot! 👍

I'm trying to buy a PAL copy of Prologue recently through my friend and hopefully I can get the game before the next round. ;)

GTP_a1PAPAOSA vs GTP_oldnail

'The' one on one challenge between myself and 'oldnail' has just recently taken place Today at 9.02am GMT

With only the two of us being on track the start was relatively straight forward 'oldnail' getting the jump and leading into the first corner, myself being a little nerves didn't quite get my exit right and left my opponent with not a large buffer between us but just enough to allow both of us to get abit of a rhythm for each others lap speed.

The next 5 laps were relativley uneventful , with myself only being able to gain any time in the last sector of the track , and then to be out-braked and then out-cornered by GTP_oldnail through T1-T2 lap after lap.......:ouch:

By the begining of lap 7 i had put my M3 close enough to make a challenge to 'The Nail' on the straight away ,only to have to back off before braking Because I just hadn't quite got close enough....ahh I had to settle my nerves once again "stay focused"

As our cars got closer it seemed we both struggled with the intesity of the battle , so with small errors allowing 2 or 3 positions changes over the next couple of laps it was anybodies :nervous:
and eventually it came down to a race to the line with only 4/1000 sec seperating the two of us.......and ..................myself finally "just" scraping through with a win.

I must thank oldnail not only for gettingi up early on a Sunday morning to coincide with this Aussie's time zones ... But also for a great if only short battle.

Cheers

Craig

Here's a little talk about our race last evening between GTP_Calcifer and GTP_2Fast4Stig: :)

Before the race I was torn choosing between R2's or R3's, while R3's gave me a 0.5s faster laptime, I wasn't consistent with R3's. With R2's I was somewhat slower but my setup was more consistent with R2's and I should have an advantige on the long straight, so I choose r2's for the race.

Was it a good choice, I didn't know? Starting second, the first two laps I was behind and never got the opportunity to get really close overtaking him. I was worried....

At last in lap three I could overtake him on the straight, but could not keep in front for long, he was definately faster in the slow corners. Did take him back on the straight in lap 4 and when he was right behind me he made a mistake braking before the chicane, braking late he managed to evade me (thanks, great fair racing! 👍 ) but went off track and lost about three seconds.

From that moment I made no mistakes and could keep my lead, both lapping almost the same laptimes (1.43,8) and finished first.

Thanks GTP_Calcifer for the challenge.

Good write up, that's pretty much how I remember it. On the first corner of the last lap I outbraked myself and had to give you the place back because I went wide. After that I was on the back foot and couldn't quite get close enough on the run to the line (0.004 second gap:ouch:)

Well done Craig and good luck in the next round!

Sorry for calicifer

And sorry that a dutchie had to lose but 1 of you went to the second round that’s the only benefit 👍

GTP_Stotty vs GTP_Racer_LP

Time of race: february 8th, 1:05 pm GMT
Members in the race: Timo, Hyper, Uk86ze, Stotty and me.

We hadn't raced eachother before this race started, so we didn't know eachothers pace.

First 2 laps: We both got away without any problems and stotty was leading into the first corner. I stayed behind him throughout the first lap to see what his pace was. Then I overtook him on the main straight and he stayed behind me throughout lap 2, so I guess he wanted to check out my pace aswell.

Starting lap 3 I was overtaken and the race really started. We were trading places every lap.

On lap 5 we hit some traffic, but we both managed to get passed without any problems and could continue the battle.

The next laps we kept trading places all the time, with the gap between us staying under half a second. Although we were fighting for positions we were lapping very fast, doing mid to high 42's lap after lap.

As we got closer to lap 10 I started noticing that I was crossing the finish line in front every time. I could stay in front when I was first out of the last corner and could overtake Stotty when he was first out of it, so I started to think I could actually win this one.

Then lap 1 came, Stotty first into the first corner, 2 car lengths in front. I was struggling to prevent the gap from getting any bigger, he was really pushing now.
At the chicane the gap was still the same, just the final sector to go now. We both didn't make any mistakes anymore and I had a better exit out of the last corner. In the last run to the finish line I managed to overtake him and win by just 1 car length.

This was definately the best online race I've ever had. We were close all race long, but didn't hit eachother once and where doing very fast laptimes. It's a shame there could only be 1 winner, cause we both deserved it.

Big thanks for the awesome race, Chris  👍

Edit: Special thanks goes out to Tzayad for letting me use his awesome tune for this one. Thanks alot mate

i viewed this race from every turn/corner possible and i must say it was bumper to bumber every lap. Congratulations Racer_LP and untill the next time Stotty.

GTP_JackStanley v GTP_Wayne

The race started as Wayne and I raced down into turn 1. Nothing really parting us as we raced through lap 1. Wayne was sat on my bumper until we hit the straight. As we cross over the finish line into lap 2 Wayne is ahead and holds me off under brakes. I run a little wide but nothing bad. Coming out the chicane Wayne is a little slow on the exit, and this give me chance it shorten his lead even more.

I then get a good exit out of the final corner and Im along side him for most of the straight. Under braking Im able to pass and take the lead. I then go all out trying to break the slipstream and create a gap between us.

Over the next 3 laps Im able to stay ahead. Wayne shortening the gap down the straights, but not able to get ahead.

As we enter lap 6 hes sat on my bumper. We enter Coca Cola and Im pushing hard. Around 100r and into the braking zone for the harpin. I check mirrors and I cant see Wayne anymore.....

"Whats happened to him" I was thinking for the next few laps. Turns out he had spun :ouch:

As Im racing through the last laps Im approcahing the rest of the pack. I came up to a GTR and an STi first. I thought to myself "is it worth risking it" so I sat behind them for the next 2 laps. Looking up at my lap times, my last lap is a 1'48.xxx!!!! Looking across to the map I could see Wayne gaining and I knew if Id stayed behind them he would be back behind me on lap 10.

Luckly I pass them with only a minor tap from the GTR and the STi being clean.

Around the final lap and across the line.

I win with Wayne a few seconds behind. Thanks for the good racing Wayne

Thanks guys, for the great writeups. 👍 Sounds like some really close racing. :D

Well done Jack :)

It's no small feat beating the defending champ, awesome performance 👍

Not surprised though, I raced in a few M3 bashes with you, you dusted me proper!

All the best
Maz

I did one mistake which is too much when racing pilot like you Jack :sly:
you totally deserve that win and I bet you will go far on this event. 👍

On the other race we had together after this one, you were as untouchable as fair & clean.

Cheers mate I really enjoyed it

First post updated with strikes for lost races. Final update and week 1 results thread will be up tomorrow night, along with week 2 pairings. 👍

OK, pretty much the only time convenient for me on Monday is 08:35 GMT (your time).
If you feel you abosolutely MUST have an extra half hour to hour's sleep, then I could try for 09:05 GMT or 09:35 GMT.

He didn't reply to this at all and since I have things going on at the later times then I chose 22:38 GMT to be acceptable.

GTP_ThaCrazyOne's last activity today (9/2/09) at 01:21 GMT +10

I don't have prior messages to this as I deleted them :dunce:, but that should be all the evidence you need to decide what happens. I showed up at the 08:35 (18:35 GMT +10) race time and he wasn't there, he was not online at all (he is currently on my PSN friend's list). He was obviously online at a time he could reply and organise. There is no later time that I can race being Australian and a full time worker.

Congratulations to everyone who made it to Round 2 and all the participants as well as EDK for co-ordinating this great event.

I'm going to have to withdraw due to connection issues. I can't connect to any races. So sorry.

Good luck in round 2 everyone.

This needs to be sent to EDK via PM, not here.

And this one.

I cant wait to see what is combo for next round!

Could we have one 'through pit lane' must for next week? No stopping and stuff like that, just drive through, and go. It would give possibilities to do some tactic manouvres. Slipstream is so huge, so it would give some obviously faster guys a chance to do a gap. I should not suggest this, but I like my idea so much, that I cant keep my mouth shut. :ouch:

Nowatime guy who is just behind when last curve opens, has advantage in Fuji... or I have bad gear-ratios.

Really like that idea Aki. Very hard to break the slipstream on a track like Fuji. Adding a type of 'driving through' idea would give the faster racer a chance to break the slipstream, unless both racers held out and pitted at the same time :mischievous:

Could be fun :)

It is a very good idea and one we used to use every now and then when racing GT4 online. 👍

We found that pitting twice over 5/10 laps was better, and we outlawed both cars pitting on the same lap.

Forgot all about that method to be honest. Well done Aki.

To the organization,

Is it possible to let us know what event we have to race for the second race. Cos we have only this week to complete the second race. I might need some preparation (i'm a real bad tuner)and practice. I don’t need to know the pairing yet.

Cheers

BTW I like the pit lane drive through a good idea, Aki 👍

BRILLIANT 👍👍👍

can i pit in the last lap?

looking at page 1 it looks like there's still nine pairings to race.

There will be some DQ's at the deadline. Except those who have conceded, I'm not making those official until the deadline. For those of you in GMT time zone, you'll be able to see everything in the morning, unless you're a night owl and stay up until 3 or 4 am. ;)
