1. Save your replay in the normal way
2. Quit game
3. Insert a USB Storage Device
4. Using the XMB, select game, select Saved Data Ultity
5. Scroll down to your Replay
6. Press triangle & select copy
7. Select the destination for the copy of your replay (USB Storage Device)
8. Copy it
9. upload to PC
Ok. I upload to PC and a bunch of crap comes up on my notepad. No video.

That's because it's not a video file, it's a replay file that contains lines of data instructions to enable the game to reconstruct the replay

The replay file wont be video anyway, it'll be a GT5P replay format (small sized file) which is just data for GT5P to turn into a replay.

*too slow*

The replay files are a proprietary file that can only be viewed within the game (region/format specific at that). It would be great if Sony/PD gives us a tool that can convert these files to .avi or .mp4. This way we will be able to utilize the You Tube upload feature Sony has planned.

EDIT:Nevermind:guilty:

Hey Sphinx!
I'm little bit confused, I've sent you my GTP PSN registry yesterday (12th september) around 20:30 CET, but now I see that you closed GTP_registry thread today (13th september) around 2:45 CET and my name is not on the list.. I remember that there was "3 days verification process" note, but now it disappeared..so I thought I'll ask about my situation (better be safe then sorry)..

EDIT: plus my poor GTP_registry Qualifier has also been already sent to you,so I hope you'll be able to register me..

cheers..

No. They are data files. There is no video recording component anywhere within them.

The data files contain data like the car, the track and every input you made.

This gets read by the game software which then recreates what you did from the data. There's no actual video anywhere within the files, so doing this:

convert these files to .avi or .mp4

would be impossible...

It looks like you are talking the same thing.

As I understand it, davethestalker suggestion is about Polyphony giving us the tools for converting actual game data into small vid files. Not a big deal since the games does it in full HD glory all the time, in real time.

Your request to join the registry will be processed today. 👍

Correct - all you need to do is connect the end of the render pipeline to a codec, instead of a display adapter. Job done.

There is a work around if you have the tools to do so. Send your PS3's audio and video feeds to a DVD Recorder, or your computer (if it has HDMI/component video in). I assume this would work. How else could hi res gameplay footage be obtained?

Yes - or any other form of recording device (I use a Mustek PVR-A1). But the fact remains that the files contain no video at all, only data which allows the game to recreate your lap. Your lap video isn't saved.

Another way to put it;

The game replicates the user inputs in order to recreate the saved replay. Therefore the data within the replay file consists of user inputs and all the relevant data that determine track, car, tyres etc.

Would be sweet if they added a "save as avi" function to the update. Hell I'd settle for being able to save online races, even just in gamesave format

+1
Online races saves would be nice, and useful should any “racing incident” pop-up during WRS.

Exactly the reason I'm not doing any more online racing until I can get my Mustek/PS3 permanently linked.

Hey Sphinx i Submitted my time to you ;) thanks again for all this brilliant work you've been doing for the GTP Community ;)

I have a DVD recorder with HDMI, but have yet to try this, didn't even think of it until now , I'll have to give it a try.

Do you ever sleep, geez? :ill:

Geez indeed :D, I raced against him from midnight to 4 AM (1AM to 5 AM his time) and at 7 AM (8AM for him) he is already posting here ... I think he must be some kind of Terminator (Model X1000) :sly:

EDIT: And he is reading this now ... we're doomed :ill:

Hun, I need your clothes, boots and your motorcycle. [said by voice of governor of california from salzburg]

After night of racing I decided (after 2 hour nap) to buy some fresh bread for breakfast and on my way out I stumbled upon my PC so I made good use of it and sent my qualifier.
Now I'm ready to fly, some sleep after Monza GP qualification did wonders to my overall "mood" and mental health ;)
Thanks Sphinx for answering and registering!
