What the hell happened?!

Hehe. This is the British Takeover on the leaderboards ;)

Can I just verify something quickly. The instructions on track boundaries state (1st chicane for example) "Green surface inside rumbles". Now I have assumed that that just means all of the green surface is out, but it does say green surface inside the rumbles, and actually part of the rumbles themselves are painted green.

As I said, I have been voiding any laps that ended up inside the green bit inside the rumbles, is that correct?

The green painted rumbles are out. Only red/white painted rumbles are track (Tarmac and Red and White Rumble Strips are Track). The pictures show the dirty areas and show the green rumbles as out of bounds:

Most of my fast laps last night were all dirty due to being on the green painted rumbles. :ouch:

You can do it again, Paul. 👍

All time gained in T1 was lost in Lesmo 1... :grumpy: But lap was 0.1s faster overall.

34.099
41.585

Actually was experimenting with TCS 1, then turn it off after first chicane. It actually helps if you are struggling with oversteer there more often than not. Allows you to get the power in early. I was actually getting some 33.8's with that trick in sector 1, but then again, getting that time about as frequently without it, so really don't think I will bother :D

First clean laps:

34.151
41.001

Solid T3 to go with these, but I've done much better in both T1 and T2. Every really good lap seems to have one microscopic off after inspection.

Yes. :ouch: I heard that.

I'm running in the Stewards lounge for a little while longer before I go back to offline, as that's clearly what made Paul'Moff blazing quick. 👍

Is that white band inside the rumbles considered as part of the rumbles? :scared:

Tim or Kev should weigh in as well, but I would say it's out. White lines are usually considered part of the tarmac they're on. Since that outside white line is on the illegal black stuff, I would say it's out.

Hmm. As defined, if you have 2 wheels on the inside white, you are OK.

Pushing it a bit?

Yah, I agree with Kevin that it's track as described in the OP. Same for the line between Lesmo 1 and 2. Also, it would be really hard in replay/photomode to find the border between the white line and white rumbles in that section... the black tarmac line is much easier to verify. (Zoom in on it in Photomode and you'll see it appears to be more part of the rumble then part of the black tarmac anyway).

Better splits:

34.117
40.833

But still lost a bunch in T1 compared to my best... keep see sawing between a good T1 and a good T2, but my T3 is getting very consistent at least.

Clarification question: Is the "dirty" green/black area indicated by the arrows in the attached image considered part of the rumble strips?

(Sorry I couldn't figure out how to embed the picture in my message - I tried photobucket but it wasn't working for me)

Starting to get the hang of this track - updated splits:

34.071
41.577

I looked at your picture and yes, all green rumbles are dirty. Red and white rumbles are the only legal rumbles.

I had a quicker lap but forgot to save the Ghost replay last night :dunce:. I said my T3 from the other lap was slow:).

and taking the 2nd chicane in 3rd instead of 2nd...

I use 2nd to help with the turn in, then change to 3rd once I've past the left hander of the chicane.

Paul, you might as well just start MOO'ing now, the flying saucers are coming for you.

Thanks for the tips.

Sorry about the lame question... I just realized that it was answered earlier in the thread. :dunce:

Sheesh, that's pretty ridiculous. Now I know I'm not running this week.

Good to see you Bandit.

You're not running because Bandit posted a good lap? :boggled:

New splits are a step back, but the T3 was gold:

33.902
41.139 👎 {I'm missing something here for sure as .8 is good for me and that's way off}

If that T2 was even decent I'd call it right there, but yuck!.

No, I'm not running because I don't really care for the track and the times I was getting aren't really competitive.

Wasn't really serious when I wrote it, but I'm not sure why it would matter if it was the reason.

Driving line is now off. :ill: What's a good brake marker for Lesmo 1? All I see are shadows on the track, but would rather find something else.

Yah, I'm using a shadow both there and for ascari. I'll scout out and see if there is something else to use that will be visible while following closely.

PS> For both of those spots I would stick to the shadows for the most part while running the TT as there really isn't anything else... if you happen to be following someone in the draft online and you can't see just brake a car length after the 200m sign which will be a bit early, but with draft and safety in mind that will be a good spot. If you have a really good run just start light braking at the 200 m sign and feather based on the driver in front. For Lesmo1 while following you online last night I was just backing up one shadow from the normal one and braking there when following. Problem is when there are multiple cars it gets more tricky... but the driving line doesn't really help in those situations as you can't see it anyway so not sure that's any different.

Yeah, the back end swung out a bit and the rear tire is very close to not being on the red/white part, just on that white band before the black bad stuff.

He said "inside", but I think he meant outside.

Right.

Ok, then I assume it's ok, if I understand you well (and assuming you understood that I meant outside...).

Anyways, for about 0.15s at the line, awful T1 with probably my best T2...

34.358
41.075

First splits:

33.888
40.656

Lost about 3 tenths in sector 2 while my other two sectors were personal bests.

New splits:

33.947
40.454
