Got back home late on Saturday, so I had to cram the whole week into one day (don't think I'll have time for this on Monday). I will submit with these splits.

20.982
25.387
26.559
19.606
39.981
30.196
26.137
44.240
34.080

I've got an hour until the F1 race is re-aired on SPEED, so I'll spend that time lapping the 'Ring. Maybe a good time will come from it.

Edit: Managed a better lap, will post splits after I'm finished watching the F1 race.

Thought I would have some time to improve my lap times this weekend, but all my freetime was spent watching the olympics....womens beach volleyball. HAHA

I have submit my total lap time for this weeks challenege, hopefully I'll have better luck with the next weeks challenge....since it's a lot less sectors than the ring.

Cheers and good luck to all.

Lap 6:

26.247

39.284
29.746

Didn't catch lap 5 yet, consarn it. Two egregious errors, so not really much gained.

26.435
19.253
40.645

26.395
18.699
39.807
29.897
25.745

D3 is tough these days. With some fast new guys, and a couple others who'll be in D2 soon I think, podiums are hard to come by.

Latest splits, some improvement.

20.679
25.487
26.823
18.562
40.123
30.040
25.637
43.960
34.035

What on earth do you mean? >_> <_<

Keep in mind half the lap is missing; the splits aren't really much to go on. I have no idea whether the back nine (7, technically) is even competent, but I'm sure ready for the 19th hole.

Anyway, I don't think we'll get another combo like this for a while - I love the car and the track, and I might be off for a week or three.

7:

20.665
25.077
26.228
18.467
39.432
29.950

I'm just saying you and Porsche have been really fast lately. 👍

I remember the last event here, you and I were really close. There's no way I can make up the time in the later splits.

After spending the weekend on my friend's new CSR-E wheel and pedals, it was nice to arrive home to my G27 :D

And it's no different online. They get faster every week and more consistent. :scared:

This guy speaks the truth. :sly:

This is going to be tough to make the podium. Every time I improve a bit, you guys raise the bar.

Your making this old man work too hard. Is there a handicap for guys 55+.

I might have .5 - 1.0 second left in me, if I can put together a near perfect lap. (big if).

Enough of the excuses, back to the track. :sly:

My new and last splits.

This one was too much for me. Too many places where I could make a mistake. I had a ton of fun with it, I just wasn't very consistent across all 37 sectors from lap to lap.

One more go, almost gave up and then I blow my PB by 3 seconds, still lost .7 out there on the track.

20.792
25.506
26.948
19.131

I think I've got the lap I was looking to get out of this combo finally. Will submit this lap.

Nice splits pilmat, I think you sealed my fate for not getting on the podium.

I just made a nice improvement at T9, and better OA. But when I check back here you just blew me away. Good job!!

I gave back some on the later splits, which I'll try to get back. But it won't be enough to catch you and Porsche.

Latest splits,

Thanks :) As the week has progressed, it's been impressive to watch the D3 folks wedge into the D2 times. Now Porsche has taken that to a new level by bumping a D1  It will be interesting to see the results and how we all did on the back section!

I just had my best lap, slight improvement at T9, better 2nd half and OA.

After reviewing the replay though I have a question. The rules state we can use the red/white rumbles and cobbles. My question is with the Shumacher esses. On the left hand turn there's red/white rumbles, and inside that there's a gray colored area that looks like bricks. I'm assuming that is considered cobbles. I have the right rear tire on the red/white area, and the right front is on the gray area (cobbles). I'm thinking this is clean, but want to be sure before I post the splits or submit this lap. I don't think I can improve much on this lap and was hoping to submit this one.

I can post a picture if needed, but I think it's clear what I'm trying to explain.

What do you guys think. Maybe Kevin can make a ruling if he's available.

EDIT: Here's a picture, easier to see what I'm talking about.

Looks clean, Blair. 👍 Those are cobbles.

I lost a bit of time towards the end of the lap so I don't know how well I'll hold up against the rest on the board. It was maybe a .3 loss but it's enough to possibly knock my time down 1 or 2 spots. Not quite sure how close the others around me are as it's a huge track and it's not the same type of close like the average track close is. Either way, the lap I ran was magic and I thought I had gone dirty in two spots but when I watched the replay everything looked clean.

329.8 miles for me this week, and I think I only had 6 complete laps in total. Tons of restarts because of being off pace or spinning.

Again I used Kev's tune but tweaked it a bit as I didn't like the way the car was bouncing around all over the place, even though I understand why the car was set up that soft. I just don't like using the curbs that much on the Ring as it's too easy to get too much and lose it all in an instant.

Submitting with my current splits, fairly happy with my overall time. I know there's more to get but it's too frustrating messing up a fast lap half way round.

Nice new splits, Al 👍 Looking forward to the results.

Haha, awesome. Sleep is a bad idea, apparently, and I really have to work on that "magic lap" skill. Mine was pretty staid, I think. No mas! I submitted last night with current splits.

At work again. I managed to record my tune; started with Kev's gears and an old offline tune (from Deutsche Rennsport, I think, but it would be barely recognizable). I still think the rear RH was a little low, or the springs need more work - it was still bottoming out occasionally.

I'm assuming Kevin is not available. I've been hoping he would reply before the deadline as he is the authority on these things. But if it were my decision I would say by the "spirit" of our rules that picture shows a dirty lap. If you look at the exact words of this event, however, it doesn't specify that the cobble rule only applies to the Nordschleif. In the "9 Lives" event it did:

EDK
  • Rumble Strips and Cobbles outside of rumble strips in the Nordschleiffe section are all track.

I'm assuming that Kevin forgot to include the key words "in the Nordschleiffe" this time. At this late hour given that language loophole I'm sure it would be up for debate. I don't know what the precedent is in this case to be honest. Letter or Spirit. Personally, I would not submit that lap.

EDIT: See my post below as it appears precedent and the lack of included language in this post would lean toward this actually being ruled clean. Sorry, but you guys seem to find every nuance and keep us on our toes.

Didn't that exact issue already get dealt with when we ran the Alfa 155 here?

@anastasis - in that same Alfa event I only managed one clean lap all week :nervous:
I feel your pain...
