I haven't been online since the update, but I wonder: now that the physics are such that the rear up/front down is working for off line setups, are the guys online running with the nose in the air now?

Looks at my tune, it's the opposite. It seems they have things sorted, although I would not say they just reversed it, the change seems to be significant.

Not much of a change on the board, but I've improved my T3 by around 0.3s.

A few turns are still giving me problems, but that left-hander after going downhill soon after T1 is a bit of a mystery to me... any advice would be welcome.

That's a momentum turn if there ever was one. You want to just stab the brakes quickly, then get right back on throttle and maintain the speed you have built up, while smoothly feeding power back in.

Alright, thanks Kevin, I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Just ran a 45 minute session using Kev's tune. The only issue I have with it is accelerating in 2nd gear tends to spin the wheels out of the two hairpins. Took half a second off my overall and the car is up to 347hp now.

I swear I was 2nd on the LB around Thursday...now I've got a D4 (Mike:tup:) ahead of me, and a D1 (praiano) right on my tail, trailing the D2 army by a large amount. I'm confused. :dunce:

Great job eeking the hell out of this one guys. 👍

Same I was in an ok 7th/8th a few days ago. Haven't managed to get any more time on the combo and am now 16th. :scared:

Thanks, Frank :) Though, I've just gone a bit faster :sly:

My heart was going when I saw I was ahead of the ghost, praying I didn't mess it up. .001 slower in T1 (but a lot cleaner this time) and over a tenth in T2.

I swear I'm not cheating  I just think this track suits the DS3 quite well.

25.478
30.514

Slightly slower by a few thousandths to the end of sector 2, but had a more tidy final sector.

T1 25.398
T2 30.242

Hopefully find half a tenth still by the end of the 2nd sector, and another half tenth over the final sector.

Nice to see you both continue to tear it.:)

Mikes now running with drivers in D2. Louis has set a blistering T2 time for a DS3 driver.

Im impressed.

Want to say nice job to Chris. He keeps raising the bar.:)

Edit: Got inspired by these guys so tried again. Got to T2 quicker which seems like a miracle (only 7 thousands quicker) but knocked 2 tenths plus a few thousands out of T3.:) Way better new OT than I could realistically hope for.

Left for sure 1 tenth in T3 compared to my PB but will have to figure out how to go quicker thru T2 to have much of a shot of beating this lap, unless I can find something tune wise that makes this car really fly. You never know.:)

Cheers Jack, although I've somehow managed to improve my second sector again. I've checked it and its 100% clean, Im definitely on the right tyres, and SRF is off. Nevertheless Im still quite surprised by this change in time.

T1 25.491
T2 30.117

Had a few 30.2s but this came out of nowhere. Made up half a tenth at the line. Hopefully I can still manage lap with a faster first sector.

I think this is definitely a ds3 suited week, as I've never run sectors so close to the top before. I think maybe because its quicker for me to flick my thumb across the d-pad than it is for turning the wheel from full right to full left.

Thats jaw dropping Louis, way to go thru T2.👍

Gentlemen STOP your engine's. Lol this is getting crazy, incredible second sector..... where is this gonna end ? Probably with a div2 overall win !!!!

Yeah, you have to compromise with setup to get the car to rotate in the high speed stuff while still allowing launch in the low speed. Just ease into the throttle and you will be fine.

If you want to try and tune it out, I would suggest -

  1. Less Neg Rear Toe
  2. Lower Rear Spring Rate
  3. Lower Accel LSD Number
But I've set all of that up to optimize the high speed, so you will give something up.

Thanks Jack... its a high pressure week for sure. Being pushed this hard is a great incentive though so all credit to you crazy D2ers (and Rutter of course).

Sweet 2nd sector Lou. 👍 I knew it was only a matter of time before someone else got into the 30.1s. And there's still a week left for everyone to make more progress... :scared:

Not if I can help it Frank :sly:

Early finish today so pushed the boat out a bit further....

25.273

Both PBs in sectors 1 and 2... but then nearly binned it taking too much curb through sector 3. Lost about 0.15 from my best through there so that's what's on the table. To be honest, in any other week I'd have probably called it a day by now....

I fiddled with my setup so much to try and get a good balance between sectors 1 and 2, I kind of got lost with it. I tried your setup Kev and while it was felt good for the most part I found it was pushing too much for my style. But I did like the higher diff settings for pulling through the high speed stuff. 👍 So I fiddled a bit more and ended up with pretty much a super-kart...

I wouldn't have doubted that :) I am still using your first tune (thanks) and will defenitly try out the combined Chris/Kevin tune !

Amazing how those splits keep evolving, great battle on all fronts going' on 👍

Interesting with the max spring rates.

I found it to be a real bear to put the power down in the first 2 turns of sector 2 with max rear springs, that's why I'm at 18.0.

It's funny that you say my setup pushes, as I set it up for a bit of tail wag. But I also found that every time I got it too loose, I would lose it in the transition in the chicane.

I'll have to mess around a bit with front springs again, to see how that changes things. I did a lot of tweaking of individual settings with a few laps run to see how each change affected the car and my times. I tried to make sure I was not changing 2 things at once, especially with respect to transmission, diff, brake balance. Maybe a couple of suspension settings at the same time, or a couple of diff settings, but never a tweak to suspension and diff at the same time.

Ride height, I'm reasonably confident that things are fixed with this update. Either lowering the rear or raising the front some from the current settings tightens up the car.

That said, I have not tried out an FF car.

I had a quick go with Kevin's tune and found 3/10ths on the second lap. Only tried about 10 more laps than little one woke up! I look forward to getting back to this very fun little car!

Its a trade off to be sure. I do like a 'pointy' car anyway and with max springs, you have to be very gentle in initial throttle application, particularly in turn 1, and the sharp left in sector 2. Seems well balanced through the switchbacks and the high speed bends though, although line has be very precise. Yours seemed to push more when off throttle but I was using my own gearing... like you said, changing more than one thing can be misleading in results and the new physics seem to require more integration of diff, gears, and suspension. :)

I think I'll stick with it for now. Since it's only two spots, I can sacrifice those with throttle instead of giving up changing direction quicker. I was just getting good at tuning before the update, now I have to readjust to it again.

Not too happy with the car wedging into the ground instead of the sky. PD needs to get it where a level car is advantageous.

We'll see how it goes with a road car with the fully adjustable suspension added. The range of travel is much greater on those, so I'm curious to see if the extreme settings still provide an advantage, or if it needs to be reigned in a bit.

Thank you very much from the tune Chris and great splits.

D2 on fire as well!👍

First splits:
T1: 25.258
T2: 30.187

Thanks Wes and you're welcome. Which setup you using? The 'super-kart' max spring version or the first one? Great opening splits too mate... looks like I'd better keep pushing...

I have a good T3 so i'm still hopefull for the finals results. I'm really tired to test so much antagonics settings and seeing that almost nothing change in the reactions of the car. Offlines settings were moribund before and now they are dead after 2.08.

Why not make an online time attack based on 1 race lap with grid start to have the replay of the race, it will be good also to set the gears another way like "tranny trick" to perform a good grid start.... Don't know, tuning a car is for me a game in the game but i can't see anymore fun in offline settings. :indiff:

Good night everybody.

Oh my, out of the seat for a while and I'm quite rusty :nervous:

The new rig is really nice. I can now use the GTEYE spring to full advantage. It's actually a good time to switch: new rig, new brake spring, update 2.08 and out of the seat for a spell. It is all going to take some getting used to, might as well do it all :)

This is pretty close to my limit I think. I've had better first sectors but nothing has come close to touching this T2.

I think I'm going to do my next run with ABS turned off, just to see what differences I can feel with the handling.
