Can someone tell me about the big white tough blocks at the chicane before the last turn. If I touch one, is that a DQ? What about if the block is in a different place then it's original location from a previous impact on an earlier lap? Can I then use a prev. block impact, post lap for my fast lap ?

Yes but it can get stuck under the car - I tried it once. I also tried knocking all the cones out the way before I started a lap. Sure enough, one of the locals waltzed in and put it back in the middle of the corner.

I'm thinking of complaining to the track officials!

Really, the locals did not show up to watch you, but the magic half-invisible car, the ghost. All you have to do is to load a ghost replay before starting the race, and they will stop mucking about with the cones. Try it!

Oh yeah, and some splits:
T1 36.193
T2 23.800

Geez, they certainly are temperamental scoundrels in that part of Germany aren't they?

I avoided loading the ghost as he keeps getting in my way, plus he always seems quicker which can be disheartening...

Will try it though, thanks Cicua!

I have come to the conclusion that instead of me going faster, you guys just need to slow down a little.

If you'd have come to that conclusion at the start of the week, you could have saved me a lot of time :sly:

Wow, it's been a long time since I played GT5. I'm not sure how much time I will get this week, but I'll give it a try. So far I have nothing to submit. I just did the Vettel X2010 Challenge, so this awesome car has all sorts of traction problems, haha. All I know is that I qualified faster than I can actually pull off every week, so I'll be near the bottom anyways, lol.

Yup.

It would show up in the correct spot on the replay no matter what you do during the lap.
And your talking blocks, right?

New splits after a couple hours today.
36.421 seen a few.1's quite a few 2's

Not much improvement in splits but doing very well in T3 I think.

Nice pictures, Kenny!! 👍
True sweetness on the splits you put up, ASH!! :)
Also, Carlos is doing very well!! Great Job!! 👍
It's starting to look like a D3 win means being able to finish in top ten overall. Well done to my fellow D3 Horde!!! It may take us days to do what you faster guys do in hours, but we don't quit, and one of us is always chasing you!!
I myself have my hands full just trying to stay in a divisional top five, let alone a podium! I'm still hoping for that 59.xxx T2! :dopey:

Race On!

I will stick to try to have fun...but no serious improvement on T1. Overall improved lap by .1

T1: 36.509
T2: 24.017

T1: 36.553
T2: 23.918

I am finding TCS at 2 to bring the most consistent laps for me and ABS 10

Thanks Chuk, I know I'm not going to be able to get near Ash though. I struggle to be consistent and then overdrive to compensate :guilty:. Having said that, my current submitted splits are practically my best for both sectors and they both came in the same lap! Looking at the times, there's clearly room in my T1 for improvement, and my T3 still has at least 2 tenths in it. But stringing it all together is another matter.

I am pretty certain though that you and mcfizzle and millross will be all over me soon and I'll be sitting here on Tuesday morning wondering how far down I'll drop. I went up last week when the results came out, but I see the opposite happening this week based on my current lap.

I'm having a truck load of fun though 👍

I think I have reached my limit...eager to see top guys replays to find out what was the deal with T1

T1: 36.433
T2: 23.853

This one had a bit of a magic lap feel to me. I think I might be done.

T1: 36.068
T2: 23.501

Over 100 laps tonight and no improvements.

I am so unbelievabley frustrated with this combo. I am always a slow starter but I always make progress. I have made essential none since my second session. I think it is more the type of car than track, as I did bad with the Castrol Supra also. I can't get any rythym going. I am constantly spinning out when I am ahead of my ghost. I miss apex after apex after apex. Why am I this bad? When I feel like I am figuring something out I am 3 tenths behind my ghost. When I feel like I've taken a corner poorly I'm ahead or even with the ghost.:ouch: To sum it all up, I'M CLUELESS!:indiff:

ASH, I think you should take the rest of this week off:sly: You don't want to play too much and burnout on the game. Amazing splits man.👍

Better, but not yet butter.

Sorry to hear the frustration mcfizzle, that sucks when one goes from one week to the next and all of a sudden can't make progress. I thought Lefty's suggestion from a few weeks ago was good (though I've not tried it yet). He said he sometimes goes and does some laps using worse tires, and then when you come back to the correct tires, you're stickier.

Sorry to hear your frustrations mcfizzle, sucks when you are supposed to be enjoying yourself. 100 laps sounds like you could do with putting the car down for a day or so and then coming back to it fresh. I can't give you any advice for T1 as you are doing the same splits as me, but my T2 splits improved when I started using 3rd for the hairpin directly after the T1 checkpoint instead of second.

Hang in there man...

*SHAKES FIST*
I thought i might have been on a winner for Div 5 with this one . . . .
THEN along comes Darkstar . . . . I WAS happy with my lap, i have no idea where i am going to get extra time from?
Good to see it competative, nice work Darkstar!!!

Cheers All !!!

Did some more this afternoon. It didn't feel any better but I dropped a couple seconds off my time at the line. Trouble is I don't know how! :dunce: I did a couple faster laps but they were close enough to the grey area I scrapped them. Don't have the splits in front of me but I will post them when they are handy.

And thanks to all with the suggestions; I think I can apply some of it at least.

@mcfizzle - I feel your pain! - Did about 50 laps last night myself and the fastest lap I got was .350 slower than my best, which is a country mile.... Finding this really tricky, particularly T1. My splits are holding up OK on the boards but it's tough when you plateau really early and can't improve :(

Think I'll do what I normally do and blame the fact I'm using a DS3, rather than the fact that I suck :D

Slower splits, but better T3 (and T2). Amusing numbers too...

36.333
23.666

Not sure how much more time I'm going to get, work is damn busy atm, but I want 3 tenths in T1 at least, just had one of those sessions where it wasn't any use. Only being able to do 6 or so laps at a time isn't helping.

In that case I suck with the wheel :D

Why doesn't this track like me :banghead:

"OH MY GOD"

Where did these splits come from?

A lot better but still room for improvement, messed up the sweeper down to T2, but am a lot happier than I have been all week :sly:

Finally managed a decent lap, after putting in a nice one and then finding out it would be dirty. Extending the discussion by Synwraith, watch out for the entry to the chicane at the end of T3. It is possible to not get red clocked and still have 3 wheels off the track (I was gutted after seing this). Just a reminder, check those replays carefully as something like this would have been all it takes to get a DSQ.

However persistance prevails and finally managed a clean one faster by 2 tenths. Still down quite far on the board, but feel like i've begun to come to grips with this combo now.

Seen flat 36's but just bugger up T2, and still missing 0.3 over the average 23.5's out there. My T3 is VERY consistent, always within 0.15 of each other. Whether it's fast or not is another story :)

Using BB 5/7 , ABS 10 and TCS 2. I find my best laps are on lap 1 or 2, not sure why. I think the slightly slippery tyres help me to point the car with the throttle.

Thanks for the tips For T2 sureboss, helped me a lot. Still left at least a tenth in T2, missed the apex on the long right sweeper. Happy enough with it if I can find any more time by the end of the week it's a bonus.

Glad I stuck with this combo in the end, even though I hate the track :)

Thanks again for the help 👍

Finally I managed to crack those 36's in T1, and how!

T1: 36.048
T2: 24.160

I'm submitting now, there's still a few tenths to find but I can't put it all in 1 lap

Edit: @sidplayos, yesterday i checked my chicane and found out it was indeed on the green so had to start over again
