No promotion for me either?

No promotion for me either?
Sorry but just wondering why?
Thanks Maz,
Although I do appreciate all the positive comments. I'll get there soon enough, every week I do my best to stay on top. I try not to disappoint my fellow division members. But Maz's words are very true, just have faith in me mates. When it's my time, I will move up the divisions
If you've noticed it, he's noticed it. You just have to show some faith and respect towards someone who is not new to this and is actually the one responsible for the entire handicap system in the first place.
WRS for GT5 has just started. Keep in mind that some drivers in the past have had to win their division in WRS or even overall on multiple consecutive weeks before they received the promotion they were after.
All the best
Maz
I agree that Shig should be with us.
No promotion for me either?
Sorry but just wondering why?
I'm hoping that the series of questions and responses that have built up in this thread, a thread that used to be purely for congratulations, celebrations and good will and pleasant surprises, will once again return it to that kind of atmosphere. We have a lot of new WRS members and I guess this ground should be covered for all to understand. Nigel, you may even consider putting a little something in your excellent FAQ about this topic also.
Josh, promotion to Division 1 gold will never take place after 2 overall victories. As Thomas has said there isn't a single person who has not had to work their ass off to get there. If you qualify there, that's the easy way to be honest and it's probably why so many people in gold dedicated so many long hours to the qualifier this time around. They knew the history of work required to be promoted into the D1 gold subdivision.
Some examples for you from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue:
- GTP_Hyperspeed (now Hyper-Dan) had to win absolutely every race in the Official GTP_Race Event 03 in order to be promoted, beating esteemed drivers such as GTP_Mad94D, GTP_MeAgainstYou, GTP_Stotty, GTP_Racer-LP, GTP_JackStanley on more than one occasion. Going up against the best of D1 gold at the time and not being defeated once in such a long tournament, becoming the undefeated champion of that event, was his gate to D1 gold. That was in addition to his WRS results I might add.
- GTP_mad94D collected 10 overall WRS wins on his way to D1 gold
- GTP_CRAZYTORTISE collected FIVE overall wins and still never got his promotion to gold
- GTP_CarlPKY had only 2 overall wins but for a string of weeks was within a tenth or so of GTP_eclipsi, one of the best GT players on the planet, scoring a ton of podiums and beating him some weeks and a great deal clear of the rest of the field, not to mention finishing #1 in the US GT Academy time trial in 2010.
- GTP_Animera collected 9 overall WRS wins in GT5P and did not get a promotion to D1 gold
- I collected 6 overall wins, 14 D1 podiums during the period I was promoted to D1 gold.
All in all, for 2 years of WRS in GT5P, only 4 drivers were promoted into D1 gold, the rest qualified there.
Now the fact is, a few more performances like you've already pulled out will see you promoted into gold anyway, so patience and perseverence are required as you can clearly see by the stats and figures I've mentioned above. It's not supposed to be easy nor expected nor demanded 👍
All the best

@Shigegaki - I will leave that comment alone for now.
There's a formula to it, but it's not that fancy:
Each event has a weight associated with it. This is published with the results (week 1 had a weight of 0.5, since minor aspects of the event changed mid-week). Most weeks have a weight of 1.0. The qualifier has a weight of 4.0. The ratings and respective weights are all combined to give a single updated rating (you can actually figure out what your rating is by carefully analyzing your handicapped results). I'll probably cap the database rating at some number (10 or 12) to prevent a long history from weighing you down too much, but I haven't settled on that yet.
Note that adjusted handicap isn't always the only factor we use when doing a promotion, but it's the controlling number in almost all cases. (Translation: if your rating says you are up for promotion, you will *probably* get it, but not necessarily.) Other things we factor in are participation, recent performances, etc. D1G is scrutinized more carefully, and so is the hardest promotion to earn by far.
When is the next qualifier that new members can compete in to be added to a division?
Cheers for pushing me up to silver gents
I intend to keep on racing hard and see if I can move up another one in the future! Congrats to all the other promotions!
D2 Gold! Outstanding! Many thanks Vax, for all the hard work on the registry and the cunning handicap system 👍 And to all the admins for such a great and friendly series
I started in GT5P as D3 Bronze - come a long way since then and its all down to the WRS 👍
