Can someone explain how the promotions work? In previous results I have had an overall podium, first place D2 podium loosing out on an overall podium by one tenth. The other weeks I have been on the division podium every week, seems strange cause I have been competing with the D1 guys most weeks.

The qualifier time is still weighted into your performance, and each event (including the qualifier) carries a different weight that's determined by overall difficulty and the relative spread between the drivers and divisions. With all of that factored in, you have not qualified for a promotion to date.

In situations like yours, when your qualifying performance is clearly different that your weekly performance, it's a shame for everyone involved. We have to compete against you to try to get on the podium, and you are asking what it takes to get promoted.

This should serve as a lesson to everyone to give the qualifier their very best effort, as we have directed in the qualifier post.

I have a feeling you have something against me. After the first WRS event I entered (Week 6) I finished on the overall podium and on the same day as the results you private messaged me asking if I had put any effort into the qualifier, which I didn't take to kindly to. I thought I gave a very good example of why I was not very good in the qualifier or the ring in general.

For anybody interested, here was my response.

The reason I struggled in the qualifier was because I have never been fast around the ring, EVERYBODY has weaknesses. Another reason I gave was that I only drive using 1 hand as many of you know by now, driving 1 handed on anything less than race softs is a big challenge, the reason I finished highly on Week 6 was because I was helped by the fact of race soft tyres. Look how poor I was in Week 7 (on sport hards) and you should get the picture of how hard it is to turn corners 1 handed on a lesser tyre.

The way you have worded your post makes me sound like a cheat to the others, which would not make any sense at all considering I have had a stab at the rules for grass cutting or lawn mowing as you all seem to put it on GT5.

All I wanted to know in the first place was how the promotions worked and I get the third degree about the qualifier, surely my results in the last few weeks are proof I want promotion as I have placed well every week I have entered apart from imo Week 7 :grumpy:

I am not upset by no promotion just this response, I can't seem to say anything without you picking

A post similar to small fryz would have been more than enough

My Gawd.. get over yourself man! Try using 2 hands then? :dopey:

Congratulations to all the promotees 👍👍👍

Welcome all new members

Special welcome to fellow countryman AMG 👍

Huge congratulations to all the promotees and new additions. Very nice to see such incredible weekly performances rewarded. It may just be a word "gold" or a number "D2", but it means a great deal to this community and its members because of the associated respect and acknowledgement from not only GTP members but other boards and communities too.

Well done to you all, especially Josh, Zoky and Jack for making D1 gold

All the best

As an administrator of the series, I have a right to ask the question I asked. You provided a response with an explanation. I have no way of determining the validity of that explanation, so I left well enough alone.

For the record, I'm not the one performing the analysis that flags participants for promotions. We are all discussing the promotions in private before they are published, but your name did not come up in the analysis of drivers who were being considered for promotion.

For anybody interested, here was my response.

This is hardly scientific, and your original post that I replied to in this thread leads me to believe you think you can perform at a higher level with some consistency. If history holds true, Racing Soft Tires are not going to come out very often. Yet you think you deserve a promotion. Why else would you post the question in a public thread, with some documentation of your own performance?

The way you have worded your post makes me sound like a cheat to the others, which would not make any sense at all considering I have had a stab at the rules for grass cutting or lawn mowing as you all seem to put it on GT5.

You chose to post this question in public. I made a private inquiry as a series administrator and did not ask additional questions.

We also did not ask for any help with making the rules, but you've been more than willing to offer your suggestions.

All I wanted to know in the first place was how the promotions worked and I get the third degree about the qualifier, surely my results in the last few weeks are proof I want promotion as I have placed well every week I have entered apart from imo Week 7 :grumpy:

You're the one who decided to come into a thread where 17 drivers who have made fair and consistent efforts in the series were promoted. And proceeded to take a dump on their party by making how promotions work and your own performance the primary context of your post, with congratulations to them as an afterthought.

As I said I am not overly worried about not being promoted, just didn't like being singled out in front of everybody over my qualifier performance. You said you can't determine the validity of my qualifier but surely as Week 7 was my weakest week it strengthens my explanation about the qualifier.

I know my time will come for promotion eventually, I actually wondered whether only being able to do 4 events before the promotions started again would be enough and I can see that it isn't. It won't stop me competing though as I will be putting in the effort for promotion in the future.

Aside from the fact that you performed very well and nearly had another overall podium while driving on N1 tires in week 8...........

This is really all you need to focus on.

Reply if you must, but this book is closed for me.

You seem to be bringing that on yourself mate - "doing your laundry in public" as it were...

What you call a weak performance, the rest of us call a D2 podium and 9th overall. You're scoffing at the efforts of everyone you have outperformed that week. Feeling like you are struggling is ok but then be pleased that your efforts have yielded a result rather than being disappointed you didn't win again.

With the latest round of promotions, I decided to publish the current handicaps for all racers. I imagine that you're wondering why you haven't been promoted when your published handicap would put you in D1B.

The short answer is that, while handicaps are the primary factor in determining promotions, they aren't the only factor.

The best advice for those seeking to move up was given by Small_Fryz:

Just keep up the good results and you will be promoted soon enough

Just to point out that week 8 was easy for most people as the car was very easy to drive on N1 tyres, thats the reason why a lot of us were high up the leader board including D3 who had the best stats that week I believe. I am happy now with your explanations though

Thanks for your help Vaxen, nice to see I am in the D1 bronze range, that will be my aim for the next promotions

Just noticed I'm not on the leaderboard attached to any division and I'm not on the list of promoted drivers. Is it just a leaderboard glitch? Thanks in advance guys and a big congrats to Dan (DDiamond) for his promotion to D4!

Thanks, DS! I know you will be right with me very soon!

Any chance of getting the divisions on the leaderboards fixed? I know I'm D4 Gold but I'm not sure exactly who I'm competing with.

There are big problems there.

I've sent a note to JoostBaksteen to make him aware so we can get it corrected.

Ok thanks. People in D4 the current pacesetter is GTP_pyxen and he's just above me, GTP_akmuq.

Would if I could

I'm truly saddened that you can only use one wing when you fly. All of my problems became a little less now. Best of luck in the future and I look forward to the day that I can chase you down and have a classic battle for first.
