I thought that with my negative handicap from week 21 it would have been enough, but I guess not. I guess I have to run consecutive time trials to make it work.

I'm happy but I'm a bit overwhelmed though and i have no idea what to do now.... This forum is so big and i can't figure out what's next. I'm a bit lost you can say.. Can somebody make some suggestions what's suitable for a new 2014 member to take part of? Or what's the (or one off) ideal GTP event(s) to take part of?

So which results are already included in the latest GTP registry update? I got massive negative handicap last week. If I keep going at this pace I might get kicked out of D2B

Last weeks negative handicaps are in effect in the registry thread.

To find out if it is updated in the thread, go to the latest unofficial results, find your handicap x.xxx (-/+ x.xxx) and add the amount of your handicap to the division placement. I.E.

mr_lab_rat r=2.179 (d2/-0.550)

Add .550 to 2.179. Your current handicap is: 2.729

I didn't realise I could be promoted again so quickly, not that I'm complaining!

I'll have to work even harder to justify my place, some seriously quick guys I'm hanging around now... :scared:

Yep. And me too

Welcome to the silver clan! :D

Congrats to the promotees and new guys. Good to get some of the faster guys out of D3 (not that I have a chance at a podium)

Speaking of the new guys, is this a clearing out of pre-1.09 submissions, or did that reopen stealthily.

I'm confused. You have me at 3.204, but I'm still D3 Bronze?

Wow, I wish I hadn't submitted last week's crappy BRZ/Ring replay :/

That 3.204 represents how well you did this week (the one that just finished, I mean). It won't be taken into consideration until results become official (next week, probably). And I'm not sure what the computation actually is, something like your current handicap times 3 plus your handicap for the last event, all divided by 4, so it won't necessarily be enough to get you a promotion immediately, but it might get you pretty close if it doesn't.

Just checked the math using my latest drop in handicap, and the formula seems to be:

New official handicap = ((4 * old official handicap) + last event handicap) / 5

In my case, it was ((4 * 3.529) + 2.798) / 5 = 3.383 (rounded).

One more thing, it only gets applied if one has a negative event handicap. Handicaps don't go up based on a bad week (which is good because I'm on track to have a horrid week at Nordwand).

Edit - make it a second more thing. Depending on the stewards' discretion, one might not automatically be promoted the week one's official handicap drops below the cutoff point, especially when it involves a division change. They seem to look for a bit of consistency.

Thanks for the explanations, guys. This is only my second week here, so I have a lot to learn.

Now it's time to learn how to drive that Alpine!

Yes, I didn't mention that assuming it was already known.

I was going to say that it was then in fact a running average of your last 5 successful weeks, but that's not right since the influence of earlier weeks is still there, it just fades more and more each time a newer handicap is taken into consideration.

It's all @Vaxen's world - we're just racing in it

Trying to digest this...

I qualified with a 3.712 (I think) for D3 Bronze. Then I naively turned in a Nurb 24 time and ended up with something like 3.984 (to show how wrong I was to do that, I later skimmed 34 seconds off my early Lexus seasonal time on that track--that experience would have dropped my BRZ time by 10 seconds, at least). Then I scored a -5xx at Redbull for a 3.204. So how can I predict where I stand?

I fully understand that last weeks dismal performance, followed by this week's, which is more representative, is not a model of consistency. But given this, I'm still not sure how the calculations work.
