Awesome job chaps, have at it 👍

Sorry, cannot find info about promotion procedure...
So some questions:

  • What exactly is needed to get up (or down) the ladder?
  • How many negative/positive handiccaped WRS results?
  • Do the have all be consecutive?
Thanks

1) Handicaps. That's it. No demotions.
2) It's pretty much just about hitting a specific handicap threshold, no amount of events necessary. The only time there is an amount of events to complete is if a driver ran the qualifier rather than being a rookie (this option is gone now, but was what we did at the start of GT6) and it was pretty much like being a rookie in that 3 events were necessary before a driver could be promoted. After that the floodgates are opened.
3) No.

Hope that helped, although it may not have made sense, I'm pretty hungry...

Thanx @mistersafeway , so it's only a matter of patience (luckily before GT6 will fade away)

How do promotions work?

Competing over and above your current divisional handicap, consistently and over a sustained period of time will see you move up the divisions quite quickly.

Your handicap is 'your position in the ladder', if you will. If you perform better than your handicap/position, you get a negative score (which is good) and you move up the ladder. As you can see here from the registry thread, the lowest handicap is 0.536 by Twissy. So the lower you get, the better you performed.

Handicap determines division, as follows:
  • Division 1: 0.000 - 1.999
  • Division 2: 2.000 - 2.999
  • Division 3: 3.000 - 3.999
  • Division 4: 4.000 - 4.999
Also, there are three subdivisions: Gold, Silver and Bronze. You will be Bronze if you are beneath X.999 of your division, or Silver if you are beneath X.666, or Gold if you are beneath X.333.

Handicaps are only updated after races has been marked as "official" (as the WRS Admins need to remove DQ'd submissions to ensure the times considered are valid). When the race is "official" your new handicap is calculated with the following formula:

( [your existing handicap] * 5 + [latest handicap you scored] ) / 6

New drivers and Promotions thread

The promotions thread really is for announcements regarding promotions (be it divisional or just going up from Bronze to Silver and the congratulations of said members promoted.

Any promotions will be announced every week.

Cut to the chase.............

Get a week at 2.9 or so and you will be promoted to D2. The promotion will happen once the event in which you over performed becomes official (7 days after results are published).

...2.9 what?

...2.9 what?
Handicap.....................

Example, this was your result last week.

12--1'42.687---maxskuk r=3.032 (d3/-0.045)

And Lilium had around a 2.9, which is what you would have needed.

11--1'42.496---Lilium_55 r=2.915 (d2/-0.105)

So rought 2 tenths improvement last week and you would have been promoted.

You won;t know what you have until results are published, so go as fast as you can. ;)

If you can't get over the hump, you are probably placed appropriately.

Huge congratulations to you @mistersafeway well deserved:tup:

Congrats @Bertracer your one step closer 👍
Boom!

Thanks. Next up, d2 gold
I think it's gonna be a slog cos of how sporadically I take part in tts... But to go from d3 bronze to d2 silver in about 30 time trials is pretty good, I'm happy with that.
On we go then.

Edit - 21 TTs and counting

Congrats to the recent promotees!
Just a few words to say that I'm with you WRS guys (and girls) in my mind but no longer in the TT's (its a guilty sensation :nervous:). Got the GTS beta, bought a PS4 and now dont have room (and time) for two setups. So I'm having fun with the beta and hoping to rejoin WRS when GTSport time comes.
