You joined on the hardest (Imho) race ever for WRS....ESPECIALLY WITH YOU ON A CONTROLLER....maybe I'll race you again in the Lotus on Saturday Afternoon

Welcome. .:gtpflag:
I'll try to make it but I'm from Argentina, the world cup starts today and I might go MIA for a while, (soccer is a religion down here, and the world cup is the clash of the titans for us)
Agreed not the easiest week to join in but that is me, couldn't resist when I saw so many familiar names....
Should have read before racing, made all the possible rookie mistakes: Didn't pit after qualifying (in fact couldn't get a clean lap) so started with used tires, was so afraid of ruining the race I almost hit the grass to let you guys pass me, and thank god I figured out the first lap was a rolling start when everybody started cruising or I could have gone head on into one of you...I'll get better at this (though probably not faster )
Love the avatar by the way...(Mine is Fangio at Monaco 57')

I recognized your Avatar..I wish I could have seen those cars....now there is a thought for PD...that would make for a completely different racing experience. A few races back I had been racing the Megane in another series and when we lined up for the WRS race I thought.."I'll bet these guys don't know about the great 2d gear launch the Megane has. "Well...they didn't...I weaved through the grid with my hair on fire....but no one was even close. OMG....its a rolling start. I slammed on the brakes and crept back to my position. Not a word was said. This is an exceptional group of drivers. Again welcome and have a blast at the World Cup.[/quote]

Hmm my message got tacked on to yours not added below....just expand yours to read...weird......fixed it....I hope.

Note to self if inadvertently you erase the last character/the square close parenthesis it causes the program to not see the next Break and causes the comments to be included in the statement being replied to.

What a great race this was shaping up to be. Almost as thrilling as Montreal last weekend. If only... :(

A couple of us misjudged the start line for the rolling start and almost rear-ended the front runners while they continued formation at 100kph. :dunce:
Then right after the start, in the first chicane, poor @gtp_Tenderly had the turbo catch him by surprise and went into a spin right ahead of
me and I had no choice but to help him off the track (sorry!). :(
Patrick got by me due to that, and then the first trip through Ascari I had a braking issue and hit
2 different sandtraps, dropping to last place.

I started anew and was running low 1'20s and was eating into Al's 20sec lead little by little. Some mistakes by others and I was caught up
with Patrick in 2nd, a lap or two before my first pit on lap 17/36. We continued the Al-Patrick-Lucas train after they pitted the next lap around.
Every time I'd get close to Patrick I'd have aero problems in a braking zone, so it literally was a train.

Then around lap 29/36 I see smoke and dust up ahead leading up to Ascari and just felt rotten. :ouch: I had a feeling they had
both gotten involved in *something* and indeed, I zoomed right past them both recovering. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That was
going to be an amazing end to the race!!!! :( I thought about slowing and resuming the battle, but it was much easier to
keep on going, so meh...not exactly proud of this win. Awesome job on pole and leading the majority of the race @Allibubba99!

Well done @LittlePaul78 on your win!

@Allibubba99 & @RoeszaGT nice EU podiums. 👍 And @Masterhec (3 pits!:eek:) and @patrick19602005 nice NA podiums! 👍

I surely know how to pick a race to start participating!! Great if tense fun guys, sorry if I made things difficult for any of you due to rookieness. I'll try to make it on saturday

I'm on reserve and most likely will make it. Daughter's game was postponed. :)

One of us will open a room, can't really predict it at the moment. It will be a public room, so you should be able to find it.

Le Mans coverage on TV ends for me 1hr before our race, so we'll post the room # to this thread.

Personally, I hope Webber's Porsche wins. :D

I will be able to host. Not positive about being able to race. This car needs full attention and when a 3 year old is running around the room at the same time it becomes a little difficult!

Al

I can see your point...
My cat has been grounded due to sickness for the last two weeks, spent the full race on wednesday racing while the poor thing howled at the door desperate to go out, he even walked over me to get my attention, but can't blame him.

Even worse, his brother is cleared to go out and play

PD: almost sure I'll make today!!

Burmese? We have one that "helps" me race.

Nah, we used to live downtown in a small apartment, and when we bought a bigger house in a quieter part of town we took in one of them (we already had an old cat). The other one cried at our doorsteps for two nights until we couldn't take it anymore and ended up adopting him too. He was five months old and thin as a hair. Rescued cats or dogs make the best pets IMO, you might have to spend fortunes on vets and medicines but the love that cat has for us is just unbelievable. We were worried sick last week because a virus got the best of him. Luckily he is doing much better now.
Sorry everyone for drifting off topic...
Helps you race??? I'd pay to see that mate...:dopey:

Too bad I had to give up from the race. 👎
My quali was to causious as where my first four laps but they kept me on the black stuff and on lap 5 I finally got my time OK and was laying 7th but in the first chicane I was accidentally hit by @Gravitron and spun. He waited but I couldn't get the car and reverse and when it rolled back my steering was stuck on the left so I sayd he could drive on.
Tried different things to get it going again but it was not going again. After a view laps I left sorry.
Looked like fun to me today with more drivers but try on next week again. Hope you could back some of the lost tima back @Gravitron

That sucks. My steering wheel lost all its ffb and i couldnt handle it after that. Sorry about getting in anyones way. I couldnt keep it on the track so i had to quit

Good race everyone. I put in a decent qualifier but my race ended very quickly when I spun out on the first lap taking Lucas (@Gravitron) with me, (Sorry about that). I had a good race after that and gained about 4 places until I spun out again midway through the 16th lap which ruined all my hard work. I was stuck in 8th place after that until the last lap when I spun out twice on the same lap due to bad tires. That allowed (@Nail-27) to get past. (I thought I had you! :))
I nearly threw the t.v out the window at that point . I love that car but it is incredibly unforgiving. I spun out more times than the wheels turned! But in the end it was a good race and really enjoyed it!

:cheers::gtpflag:

Can't believe this, my internet connection fell midrace through. Thought I was doing better than expected, (8th place) was entering pits for the second time at lap 22 and suddenly "Lost connection to server" 🤬 :grumpy: :banghead:
Great fun while it lasted, could keep a 1'22-1'25 pace depending on tire wear. Took care of tires and had only one minor off track incident at Lesmo. Sorry Lucas for blocking you, can't remember exactly where but couldn't get out of the way on time...

as lots in front of me gyrated..sometimes more than once...and rooted their tyres...I just set a 1:23.xx pace thinking about a 1stop which I had practiced...then I looked up and Holy 🤬 I was in 5th (rather rarefied atmosphere for this kid in of all things the ultimate rocket ship). I was contemplating this when ...well I really don't know ....it was sort of an out of body experience....I was sorta heading for pit entrance when someone going the speed of heat ...passed me on the pit side...cut back onto the track in front of me causing me to lock em up and vanished . Well so much for the 1 stopper....I was pointed down pit road. After that I tried to hit my marks with my new found speed but fell off twice while trying to let people by....

In the NA race there were numerous calls by faster cars "Blue Flag....the persons name" That works....trying to look out the back of a VERY fast car to read a blurred name DOES NOT WORK. Every time I tried I lost a couple of places. Fast guys just say "XYZ Blue Flag"...unless you like sitting by the side of the road tangled up with the guy you were trying to lap. The last time Bart or Jammy or whoever went by another took his place...by the time I could read his name ....guess who DARREN....while looking and saying.... again....Holy 🤬 Its DARREN....I promptly drove into the wall on the straight. So I pitted again and went after DARREN WITH VERY FRESH TIRES. He ran out of tires and road on the last lap and I went after Strop weaving in and out of pace lap speed leaders who had finished. It was like the mad hatters tea party

But despite the lapping meleeIT WAS THE MOST FUN I HAVE EVER HAD IN WRS.

You had a good race Ned. I do tend to agree with you on the blue flag stuff, Monza is the most difficult of all the tracks for this. I nearly crashed at least once while looking behind to see who was coming up and also let a couple of people by me (cough ... Gravitron ... cough) unintentionally thinking they were lapping me.

I had the expected problems trying to get my wheel back to 360 after the pit stop. I hope my polite expression of surprise that my first attempt resulted in 1040 steering wasn't too loud over the mike (something like 'what the f... from memory :)). Also found that I was down 14HP by the end of the race due to forgetting again to do an oil change before the race.

Good race anyway, quite happy with 7th or whatever it was. @dangerzone641 for this kind of racing, and especially Monza you need to be a little more patient with slower drivers, you kept hitting me from behind on corners and it is somewhat self perpetuating because I start concentrating more on you than the corner and lose my braking points and lines. If you give us time we'll let you past, which as Ned said is better than both of us ending up in the paddock (or just you as was the case today).

Thankfully my banged up knee and hand didn't affect my racing at all though both are pretty sore right now. Note to self, don't try and ride over storm drain gratings just wide enough for a wheel to drop into.
