After a full week with lots of turbulance and emetions about the downing of flight MH17 :ill: I found some time to a bit of time trial and the WW-race on saturday to have an other mindset then just thinking about the lives that were lost 👎
My intention was also to participate in the EU race but after an very emotional national day of mourning here in the Netherlands I was not able to do so. Still I made an report from my TT and the WW race on saturday which you can reed here: http://roeszagt.frlk.nl/wp/?p=874
Hope you will enjoy the reed and I will see you on track at Suzuka.

RIP to all people that were on board Malaysian flight #MH17

You guys aren't going to tease me for the reason I went to autopilot during the race, are you?

I would never make fun of a situation like that. Most of us here are too old for that kind of problems I guess, but we all had mothers at one time or the other you know.
Besides, honesty should be rewarded, not punished by cheap mockery :D

When will the official results will be posted?
I'm eager to see them as well.

I need to go through and count how many cars I passed. I started 8th and got up 4th after the first lap. Then up to 3rd, then down to 6th. Then back up and back down a couple times. Then up to first...on the last lap as Pekka ran out of steam. It was a very difficult race for me until I pitted. Once I got out of the pits and into some relatively clean air (mostly away from Ana), I was able to start laying down some quick laps. Once I was able to get past him, his lag helped me as he held Gravitron enough for me to get away. Then I just had to get by @Bleached and run down Pekka.

I just wish I had been able to run that fast for the WW on Saturday. I could have given @ItsAllAboutWins and @hasslemoff a run for their money...maybe.

The zero stop is going to be nigh on impossible. [/PekkaBait]
Haha! You knew! He tried. Almost made it too. Had he pitted on schedule it would have been a much tighter race. Him being that far ahead gave me the carrot I needed to try to run him down. Not sure I could have ran at that pace if I were in the lead the whole time.

The results will be posted when we have reviewed all incidents. I think it's pretty safe to congratulate @PASM and @crowhop on their wins, though.

As I was watching bits of the replay of the NA race, I was impressed all the more when reminding myself how often you had gone forward and backward, @crowhop, and then pounding out what must have been many 1'47s in a row. 👍

I wanted to publicly apologize to @anastasis14, it was fun to have you drop in like that, but the last-minute nature of it meant that we didn't get a chance to notice the lag until after the race had started.
The amount of bumps I gave you from behind is what I'm sorry about...after the first misjudgment I should have backed off. :ouch: Hopefully giving you the place at the end was enough to show I felt bad. :dopey:

Also, I went a bit crazy with the camera.

You guys aren't going to tease me for the reason I went to autopilot during the race, are you?
Of course not, but the manner in which you handled it was not good. You let off the gas very early right before turn 4, where there is no braking needed, which made Patrick think that he had knocked you off, which meant he waited forever for your 35mph butt to catch up. At least pull over if you're going to slow down!

Right before you let off early:

Can some post or send me the replays of EU and NA races? Would love to watch
I forgot to save eu race replay

Wow what a race that was! Definitely worth staying up till 6AM. Surprised I qualified for 3rd considering the guys that raced yesterday! I enjoyed every single lap of this race either by battling out with some of you guys or by trying to stay close behind Pekka between laps 14-20 or trying to catch up the JVG after that!

I wanted to publicly apologize to @anastasis14, it was fun to have you drop in like that, but the last-minute nature of it meant that we didn't get a chance to notice the lag until after the race had started.

You really don't have to apologize for anything, dummy me forgot to connect the ethernet cable prior to the race(Maybe it's just my connection, 0.5Mbps Upload speed sounds pretty bad). Also my lines were totally different to almost everyone racing yesterday, I was braking really early at most of the turns (which would probably cost me time anyway).
I caused many other guys to bump me from behind this way. Lovely photos there by the way!

Love the pics. This was so much fun.

In my opinion, this pic defines the key to my race...
mazda-raceway-laguna-seca_4-jpg.191423

I managed to come out ahead of JTV (black car) and right on the tail of Vipond after the round of stops. I was 5 seconds behind before I made my stop. I managed to pass Vipond the next lap.

Because of @RoeszaGT s absence during the race I decided to make a race report about my race.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.jpg
(The start)

WRS 25 Mazda is as Mazda does.

MH-17
I painted my car orange as it is our national color and the black stripes and rims as a small gesture to the lives lost and destroyed in the MH-17 Disaster.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_2.jpg

Qually
After a bad qually I stood in 12th position on the grid which surprised me because I thought I would start further back. All excited to go racing I lost my cool, And went full throttle on the start not remembering this was the formation lap. Quickly I realized this and got back in line.

Lap 1
The first lap was quite hectic in the approach to the first corner I made the mistake to follow my qually line, giving space for @Luni Legacy to undercut me and take my position.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_1.jpg

In the approach to the 3th turn I was on the inside but couldn't do anything from there. In the meanwhile @Thematic was right up my bumper and had a better line through turn 3 but fortunately I was able to keep the door closed and maintain my position.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_3.jpg

At turn 4 I noticed that I was quicker than @Bergele and @Luni Legacy and for a brief moment I thought about going around the outside but I decided it was to risky.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_4.jpg

An just when I got back in my position and saw a big smoke cloud caused by a spin of @Ruzzinvincable
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_5.jpg

I stayed o the left side of the track as we’re approaching turn 5 with three cars next to each other because of the small space and 3 cars I backed out trying to avoid a crash galore.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_6.jpg

At turn 6 I had a better exit than @Luni Legacy in front of me and before him @Bergele. @Luni Legacy had a better line through turn 6 than @Bergele and was exploring his opportunities to pass @Bergele in the corkscrew but they left the door open on the leftside allowing me to brake them both out and gaining 2 positions in the corkscrew. At this point @Luni Legacy was so filled with joy and so excited of my brilliant move he decided to show his love and appreciation by using his horn as a way to share the love:P
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_7.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_9.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_10.jpg

At this point I noticed that @Nail-27 and @Don Mejillone already had gap with our pack (aprroximatly 4 secons). And I had some real catching up to do.

Then in turn 11 I made another mistake my apex speed was to low allowing @Luni Legacy to get my slipstream. I noticed Luni wanted the inside and gave me a small bump.

Lap 2

I decided not to make the same mistake in the rundown to turn 1 and chose the inside and bit early breaking to block the apex for @Luni Legacy on the outside. @Luni Legacy slightly touched me there and also missed his second apex allowing me to extend my lead on the pack.

In the rundown to turn 5 I see that @Thematic overtakes @Luni Legacy . At this moment I thought this is good for me as long as they are battling each other I can extend my lead on them and close in on Ned.

When I looked at the rear view mirror I saw that I was quicker through turn 5 allowing me to get further ahead and braking the slipstream they previously had on me.

Lap 3

Now that I had some clean air i managed to sneak up to Nail in the 3th lap I gained the 9th position from @Allibubba99 when he parked the car in a similar way as @Ruzzinvincible did. It think the clouds of both of them we’re identical :P
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_11.jpg

Lap 4 - 6

Slowely but surely I started gaining on @Nail-27 but a sudden loss of concentration caused a spin at turn 10 and followed by a big thank you, I’ll take your place from @Thematic . Fortunately I was able to rejoin the track in front of @Luni Legacy in the laps following I started to gain on @Thematic and eventually passing him.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_13.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_14.jpg

Lap 7-10

I’m trying to get to @Thematic again which is going quite nicely in turn 5 of lap 10 I was finally able to capitalize on a mistake. He slides toward the track edge missing the apex allowing me to line up for the overtake in the run down to turn 6 because I had more speed.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_16.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_17.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_15.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_18.jpg

Lap 11-13

In these three lap I gained quite a bit on @Nail-27 and just when i was preparing for battle he went in the pits. Which was a shame because I would have loved to battle with him on the track. But this was time wise a better option.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_19.jpg

Lap 14 – 18

Because some drivers were pitting I got up to 5th place with @roamer2629 coming out of the pits close behind me he is now closing up on me. In turn 9 @roamer2629 gets a bit to excited and touches my left rear panel causing me to spin out and losing about 10 seconds but gives me the position back and we race on for another couple of laps before he passes me in 18th lap.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_20.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_21.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_22.jpg

19 -20

Because of my late pitstop strategy the faster people are now catching up with me when @Don Mejillone came close I decided to wait a bit in the corkscrew and let him pass to lose a minimum amount of time instead of losing a lot of time in a possible battle.

Lap 23

Pitting time. At the exit of my stop near the end of the straight parallel to the track I see @Luni Legacy and @Allibubba99 fighting for position. At this point I think maybe i can catch them but then! 30kmh...ZZZzzzZZZzzz. I think ! yelled POWER at least a dozen times!!! I have better things to do than exiting a pit at 30kmh. I entered the track in 9th position
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_23.jpg Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_24.jpg
attachment.php

Lap 24

I see a orange silhouette getting bigger and bigger in my rear view mirror. I thought this was for position so i prepared my self but it didn’t help turned out it was @PASM . So what do we learn from this next time use the rearviewbutton instead of the rearview mirror to actually see the name of who"s behind you. Luckily I didn’t get in the way of @PASM to much.
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca_25.jpg

Lap 27

Unfortunately I was not able to close the gap to @Luni Legacy and @Allibubba99 but I’m close enough to benefit if they make a mistake. With PASM now almost lapping them I hope they lose some time.

Lap 28

PASM has finished the race in 1st (congratulations!!!) but @Allibubba99 is still behind him as @PASM gets to the cruising speed which caused some serious heavy maneuvering from @Allibubba99 to get past him. Fortunately I could drive straight passed Bart and managed to drive around the outside of turn 3 and pass Allibubba.
Pumped with adrenaline to keep to position we move on to the 4th corner where @Allibubba99 had a better exit but I managed to keep the door closed. In the rundown to turn five I give some room for @Allibubba99 on the rightsize so I keep the inside line Because I Was on the inside I had to lose a bit more speed as usual to make the turn and in the process blocking of the apex and forcing @Allibubba99 to lose speed. He ended giving me a little bump and because of that I got a small gap allowing me to finish on 8th place in my first top 10.

I would like to thank all the drivers for some great action on the track. And last but certainly not least I would like to thank the stewards for investing a lot of time in providing these combo’s and races, great effort and greatly appreciated!!!

I also made a quick video race report. I'm sorry for the quality but I'm tired en just wanted it done! Next time it will be better I promise!

Congrats to @PASM and @crowhop for their respective EU and NA wins!
Well-done to @et_ and @hasslemoff for the EU podiums and @Bleached and @jtv90069 for the NA podiums. 👍

Unfortunately the EU race had some penalties:

View attachment 191808

Penalties
@Luni Legacy DQ for rear-ending and then divebombing the ahead car on lap 6 (racing lap 5) at the final corner and not giving the position back.
This was not blatant disrespect of the OLR, given that the ahead car wasn't punted off and didn't lose time, but still against the rules, and given Luni's past history of contact and no-showing when signed up as confirmed, hopefully this sends a message.

@Meister Fetz DQ for a blatant hit-n-run of the ahead car on lap 17 (racing lap 16) at the final corner.

In both cases, giving the position back would have yielded no penalties.

Congrats to Bart for the best race lap and @ItsAllAboutWins for the fastest quali lap!

First win for @crowhop!

2nd use of that awesome vid in this thread!

et_
Looks like the NA race was quite slow?
Uh, sure, what's your point? :mischievous:

The winner, crowhop, started from near the back, was held up for quite a while trying to get past a laggy anastasis14, and had some other things that held him up as well. But then he got in clean air and had no further battles.
2nd and 3rd place in NA were locked in battle with me for I-don't-remember-how-many laps, which ultimately slowed us down, but we enjoyed the battle so much we forgot about trying to catch crowhop. :P

EDIT: If @MadMax's zero-stop strategy had worked out, our NA winner would have been up there with the top placers from the other races.

No point, just an observation;)
I dont know why @MadMax would try a zero-stopper again, as he tested it in the EU race and it did'nt work out...:P

He actually didn't make it for less than half of a lap, he was pretty close and as he stated in the after-race chat he would have made it if he didn't make some unforced mistakes by going wide on some corners etc. It would be fun if he made it!

@Gravitron Talk about consistency, after 27 laps, 3 tenths are separating you and yourself

08: Corner Rights:

A:
When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions.

So...?? Please? WHY????

There was one incident where I felt hit from the outside but your rules say I was the one in advantage???

On the replay I have it shows you directly behind the car in front, you brake too late and punt the ahead car into the dirt. You didn't have the inside line. Send me a pm if you want to discuss this further.

Congrats crowhop! I guess from now on I'll only get to see your taillights. Well done.
This was a great car to race, on a classic track, attendance high and the races were great. Had lots of fun.
Will skip the spyker and train for the triple mix.
