GTP_WRS-Online Event 27 : All Hail Hans Hugenholtz - Jul 26 & 30

Signed up for tomorrow, but first laps in this combo will probably be just before the race. I'll try to stay out of everyone's way! :scared:

You should be able to keep it on the black stuff and pointed forward if you brake early going in and short shift coming out.

Otherwise, there are a lot of tricks to learn about what you can get away with and where. I ran maybe 2 hours of the TT and figured a lot of that out, but that's also after driving a lot of tricky cars here in the past, and knowing where they like to bite.

If you brake late (or don't get the car pointed before braking in certain corners), the understeer under braking is atrocious. If you are on the gas too early, or in the wrong gear, you are just going to spin.

Good luck. :scared:

Thanks for the tips! I probably know Suzuka better than any other GT track, but I'm sure it will take a handful of laps to really get up to pace.

Hey guys,

I won't be joining you guys on track tomorrow. Not because I don't want to or can't make it but because I think I should have practiced this combo more as it's really tricky one and i don't want to spoil anyone's race.

Since I already started to write the my race report. Here is what had to be the beginning of a race report...

As I did not have a lot of time this week after the Wednesday race. I did not put in more than a few test laps with my DS3 at this combo. But Bart came over to my place and we did some laps. I must say it’s a hard combo with an very unforgiving car. But when I reflect on the session this is a combo that thought me a lot about the way a car (can) react(s) in certain situations. In a sense it’s a very honest and straight-forward car. All it basically does is punish you for every little mistake you make. Although this can be very frustrating, most of the time I was learning so much! In example turn 1 and 2, how to brake en rotate in a controlled manner. Bart saw me really struggle to get through those first corners and then told me I was doing it wrong. What i did was slam the brakes till I thought that car was able to make to corner. The effect that had was that because of the applied braking forces the wheels could not turn any more and I ended up missing my apex and sliding straight of the track. So he gave me the tip to apply less brake so the car would be able to turn more which resulted in a great time advantage and big up for the confidence. As we progressed I learned so much more about how the car handles and what it can and cannot do.

Also I realized in what a privileged position I am in. I mean not every one has E.T. as an friend who can come over coaches you for a couple of nice cold life-elixirs:cheers: , a occasional “phone, home” and a great time. I think I have learned a lot in short amount of time because he watched my mistakes and gave me advice. So I can strongly advice people getting stuck on improving their lap to let one of the fast guys take a look at your lap. See what tips they give because this builds a better understanding of the car and track and also an other point of view on your lap. If you than use it and knock of another couple of tenths is just a great feeling. So, really I would not be to afraid to ask any of the faster guys. My experience is that they will not bite. And if they do watch the replays of the TT’s faster guys that won’t hurt your lap times either :P

But what all these great tips didn't teach me is consistency and focus. These I will need to evolve my self by practicing more and racing more. So that’s what I’ll be doing as I let this combo slide.

To practice my skills I will now be focusing on the triple mix because there is still a lot of time to practice, It's i nice short track that's less difficult to learn and the difference in the car will also teach me a lot.

I wish all of you a good race tomorrow.

Cheers,

Kevin

This is a tricky car to handle. I think you should run. You could easily finish in the middle of the pack by going slow and keeping it on the track.

@Shuzbut sorry for the 2 day delay, but you've now been added to our DB and will show up on the registration image shortly.

Anytime someone new joins us we ask them to join the race lobby as soon as possible so we can work out any connection issues and make sure the car control is there.

All good buddy

Yes but the keeping it Is the problem :P

Agree completely. Thought about running but just the tension from keeping things under control makes my hands hurt. Don't think I could run 5 straight laps the whole last week. But hey, aliens can have their fun too

Sorry I didn't finish the race, the Spyker is a very hard car to drive and Suzuka is my most hated track, I shouldn't have signed up to it as I didn't have any practice beforehand.

The race started OK but when my tyres went I couldn't keep the car on the track. It was only a matter of time before I ruined somebody's race.

I'm going to France on Monday for 2 weeks so I hope to come back in 3 weeks time much better than I did today.

Wow, I was experiencing some bad lag & couldn't get near to anyone cause I was scared that we might wreck. And.. Then I got disco'd right after sorry to anyone's race that I disturbed.

Edit: turned out my father was downloading two movies and 2 other computers on youtube. :/

Yeah I was watching the race and something looked way out of whack for you--it didn't anything like that smooth replay of i watched last night.

It was rough, I literally couldn't do anything.

Nice, I watched the last lap. Insane fight for the win but there were other good battles too.

Fight for the win:  (@MadMax vs @Mini Stiggy )

Congrats Pekka for hitting all 3 podium places!!!

Awesome racing from Jon and Drew tonight. 👍 When Kev and LLOYDZ DC'd I was thinking :ouch:, what an awful way to have a race end. 👎
