GTP_WRS-Online Event 39 : Midnight Motegi - Oct 18th/22nd

Late registration as a 'maybe' for NA, depending how my internet connection is. I loved the combo in the TT so couldn't resist wanting to run another 30-odd laps with others! :D

I'll open the NA race room in 20min or less and we can see how your connection is doing. 👍

Well after the WW race at the weekend I was expecting another great race and I was not wrong more overtakes close battles different pit strategys through out the field all resulting in my second podium of the event and another classic race to add to my replay file.
Good to hear, and I got to watch that on Bart's stream. 👍 Congrats.

My NA race was also similar to the WW race, where I was slowly catching you and Patrick at the end and was *just* too late. This time it was Jon and Pekka ahead (with Bart being off in the distance like Animera was in WW) by a few seconds, and I was able to catch up on the start of the final lap, watch Pekka pull a crazy pass for 2nd, and then be stuck on Jon's bumper to the finish line. :) Was a lot of fun. 👍

I had another (2nd) good race with you guys at Motegi (EU) last night.

Quali 9th and ended up 7th.

Had some great battles throughout and I'm very impressed by the etiquette shown by the racers.

Thanks to GTP_PASM / Bart for hosting and also for the win - I noted you knew exactly how much fuel to put in at the stops.

Just out of interest, I seemed to lose some time in the pit stops.

From my online racing experience, I've tended to slow to the speed limit before the AI takes control of the car, mainly to lessen the chances of any glitches/delays that could occur, but noticed from the replay that it didn't seem to matter and watched PASM just go straight in.

Do these pit stop glitches not occur now, after the updates?

Hey guys,

I just watched the EU because i was sick. And since i had little to do today it would be nice to make a video breakdown of the race. So I made an excel document already compared TT laps with the qually and gathered some more information. So I would actually have some background information to tell during commentary only to find out I couldn't fast forward in my replay :banghead: Hour of work, worth nothing. So I decided to make one on the roamin ponies just to see how it would turn out. Still busy with it though. Only commentary to be added and then its finished. But first dinner and when it's done i'll post it in the ponies thread and the pit thread because it doesn't belong here. But I would appreciate you guys watching it so i can get some feedback as I would love to do these kind of things more often.

I can't wait to see this you had the best seat in the house

During the race I discovered ( to Roamers regret when he Nailed me when I slowed...so to speak) where I was slow and that is the entry to the esses under the bridge. I accelerate to 3d brake and turn in holding third...I tried second but it seems that others are braking one H of a lot less thus allowing a faster entry and exit into the corner. I figure it was costing me at least a second a lap.
Help.
Sorry to ruin your race Roamer....

I really did there was so much action even I missed half of it :P Anyway what I meant in my post is that I couldn't make one about the race yesterday because I couldn't fast forward. It would mean if i want to comment on all the action I would have to watch the whole replay so 1 hour replay times 15 is 15 hours and the onboard footage again 15 hours not to speak of montage and commentary that looked a bit outragous to me. So thats why I decided to test my concept first on the Roamin' Ponies EU race So i could get the feel for it and could do a fast forward :D I hope it's a bit more clear now.

Edit: That was really one of the most awesome races I watched and I don't just mean virtual!

If one of the racers from the EU race volunteers to export their replay and upload it to google drive or dropbox (assuming the size is less than 100MB, otherwise the PS3 won't export it), then you would have a FF/RWD'able replay. 💡

Glad you are enjoying the races. In testing I found out that braking 50 meters before the AI takes control in the pit lane is about ideal. If you do it later or don't brake at all you'll crash into the pit wall in the pitlane.

The EU race was a good one. I qualified 3rd but inherited the lead when couttsy and MeisterFetz made contact. Got under attack from DEPR and skyline, but could make a break and put in consistent laps.

The NA race was epic too, with a great battle for the lead with MadMax and JTV. I think I was side by side with JTV for almost a whole lap. I will post a video of that!

I have already checked, it's 104 MB, thus not exportable... :(

No problem Ned I had already done that myself :D

Yeah Lucas,

But just like @PASM said. It was to big for export. And in hindsight to big to do what I wanted to do with it. It would simply have took to much time to do it thoroughly. So what the idea was you'll get to know in a short while.

Anyway I did do some preparations for the roamin' Ponies and filmed the footage first with a DSLR (which was unbelievable crap all the chromatic abbreviation) than I decided to go with mobile phone also didn't work because I vibrated like I was sitting on a laundrymachine.

So in the end Bart and I spend the better part of the evening capturing, executing and polishing the plan. Tomorrow we hope to add the commentary and than hopefully it will be done.

So what should I learned from all this:
1. Estimate what time it's gonna take and multiply it by 3. If you don't have the tools, Multiply it by 3 again.
2. If you don't have the tools and you are a perfectionist you are 🤬.
3. Don't be a perfectionist.
4. Get your own damn capturecard!
5. Don't even try to put all the action in the WRS 39 race in a single video with good back ground information. It will take longer than a lifetime. You'll get grey by only doing one roamin' ponies race.
6. As long as you're editing there isn't such thing as to much .
7. Get some sleep it's 4:23 AM local time AM been busy since about 13:30 PM (minus some breaks).

Cheers,

Kevin

I laughed hard from #1 onward. A simple "lol" was not enough to convey the laugh. :)

I look forward to seeing the fruits of your labor, sweating over Bart's PS3, which holds the replay in question "captive". (as well as the Silverstone/McLaren 2.4hr Enduro replay :grumpy:)

I'm estimating that the PS4/GT7 will be able to export 16 to 32 times the size of the replays on PS3/GT6, so I guess we'll just have to make our races much longer. :P

Here is the end result: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...nts-oct-11th-15th.317996/page-3#post-10181645

 Bart for 2 more wins, and a great drive from Pekka (x2) and Steve and Jon for rounding out the podiums. :D

Results have been delayed due to incident investigations, but it appears that on-track concessions were sufficient. 👍👍
