@RS__96__oO (LMP) and @numbnuts70 (GT) you guys both signed up as Confirmed back in November, but neither of you qualified. We need to know your intentions in the next 12hrs.

I didn't realize this when I told @Kjeld Lund there was no point in qualifying. So anyone that missed the quali deadlines and wants to race on Sunday should try to get with a steward and get a time down so we can make a better informed decision about room splits.
I won't be able to do a qualifying in the next 12 hours, as i'm not at home and have a 2hr race in the evenings. Earliest would be around 10.15 pm GMT. if it's not possible for any of the stewards i'll have to quit :(

PASM
.

Important notes for the Support races. (note: the two formation laps and GT getting a head start will NOT apply to the Enduro on Sunday)

Details:
  1. The races will be set to 40+1 laps for LMP, 39+2 laps for GT
  2. The formation lap speed limit is 75 mph / 120 kph and a staggered two wide formation will be used.
  3. There will be 2 formation laps for GT drivers and 1 formation lap for LMP drivers.
  4. The target start for the LMP class is when the GT field reaches the GT turn in Sector 3.
  5. LMP cars are required to pit pause for 4 minutes.
  6. GT cars are required to pit pause for 2 minutes.
Important Notes:
  • The lounge will be open about 1 hour before the race begins -- watch thread for announcement.
  • Be on time (at least 5 minutes early, but preferably 15).
  • Regulation checks will begin promptly at race start time.
  • No tire warming procedures allowed during formation laps.
Regulation Checks:
All drivers should be in the lounge at least 5 minutes before the race start time. We will begin reviewing these rules at that time. Once the steward begins to speak or type out the instructions please refrain from using the text or voice chat unless you have an important question.

At the race start time we will begin regulation checks. You will be called by name to enter the lounge with the GT drivers entering first in starting order and then LMP cars after regs are updated. Do not enter the course until your name is called and do not exit to the lobby once you are entered.

Stay in the pits until the system places you on the starting grid and then we'll begin the formation lap procedures above.

Formation Laps:

The GT cars will leave the grid in order of qualifying and run a fast, but safe single file lap to lap the LMP cars. The goal of this lap is just to get around fairly quickly and reform for formation Lap 2. At the same time the LMP class will allow the GT class to clear the grid and then leave the grid and on the run-off outside of turn 1.

The GT class will finish lap 1, pass the parked LMP cars and start lap 2 of their formation lap. The GT class should proceed on formation lap 2 at 75 mph/125 kph. The LMP class will wait until the GT are all clear of the T2 marker and then begin to form up in qualifying order and begin their own formation lap at 75 mph/125 kph. The faster class should maintain about a 2 sector gap to the slower class for most of the formation lap. The pole car each class is responsible for setting a steady pace while allowing the group to keep together.

The slower class will begin the race at the start/finish line after their 2nd formation lap. The target start line is the official timing line and the lead car should make sure after the final turn that all cars have formed behind and closed the gap before the group approaches the start. At that point it's up to the lead car to accelerate to start the race and all other cars can speed up when the car in front of you does so.

The faster class cars will follow the same procedure and starting point, but the goal will be to time their start at the start finish line so that the lead car from the slower class is at the apex of the GT turn in Sector 3 when the faster class accelerates to race pace. That should give the GT cars a good head start.

The final formation laps should be taken in staggered formation. The lead car will take the left side of the track. The second car should take to the right side of the track and alternate all the way back. This helps keep a tighter pack while maintaining better visibility versus single file. Cars should not "overlap" with the car in front of them. No passing before the start/finish line.

Finish:

Between the extra formation lap and pit pause difference the two classes should finish the race at approximately the same time. I'm not sure who will actually finish first, but all cars should have a fair chance to complete the race before the timer expires.

Got a practice room open in the GTP_WRS club.

That's correct. We have the two support races tomorrow, I'm sure you'll be able to find one of us.
Got at birthday to go to today. I'm home this evening about 8 GMT 20,00 hour. Hope a Steward is avaliable around this time. I'm sorry for the problems it caused for you Stewards. Know what a Big job you'r doing to set this up.

That's between races so meet us in the GTP_WRS club. 👍

That's DURING the 2nd race, so please wait for notification that the race is over before joining. You can qualify after race #2.

Ummmmmmmm, @PASM what's this all about...??? (...in the GTPlanet club Time Trial)

Thanks. I will do that

Haha, are you sure your middle name isn't Sherlock? I thought I'd check out the GTPlanet club for once, but there was no-one around to race... so I did the TT. Indeed the tire wear is off, so it feels quite close to the offline physics.

Checking the driver change simulation of the EU race of last Wednesday, I noticed quite a lot of drivers abused the pit entry lines. The full car should be inside the white lines all the time, from the start of the white line till the end. The only exception is if you endanger another driver by moving over. In that case, move over to the pit lane entry at the earliest safe opportunity.

Please read the following and remember that it's ok to make a mistake there, as long as you give the gained time back (2 seconds off throttle) when rejoining the track. Practice entering the pit and find your brake marker as you would any other corner on the track.

Another important note is that the start of your simulated driver change starts the moment the lollipop is raised.

  • Safe Pit Entry: Drivers must keep all four tires within the white lines on pit road entry and must avoid contact with walls. There is no specific speed limit on entry, but the driver may need to slow significantly in order to stay within the boundaries and avoid wall contact. If the boundaries are crossed or wall contact is made the driver can avoid penalty by lifting off the throttle completely for 2 seconds after the car is released from the pits to "self-penalize" otherwise a 10 second penalty will be incurred after the race.
  • Safe Pit Exit: As always, when exiting pit road the driver is responsible for a safe entry onto the racing line and must "yield" to oncoming traffic. Any incident resulting from an unsafe exit will result in a drive through penalty (30 secs) for the driver exiting the pits.

Simulated Driver Change

20141107165820_crop-jpg.252764

There will be one mandated (simulated) driver change during the race which must take place in a specified time window. To simulate the change a driver will pause during a regular pit stop for 5 minutes. The time window is long enough that it will throw some interesting dynamics into the race and it will also allow the participants to take a small break during the race for a stretch, drink or a real life pit stop during this challenging event.

Specifics:

  1. To begin the simulated driver change enter the pits as normal during the driver change window (race clock between 1:00:00 to 1:30:00).
  2. Begin the pit stop as normal allowing AI to take over and then selecting tires and added fuel amount and select OK
  3. After that screen is dismissed hit "Start" which will show the options buttons ("resume", "chat", "options" and "exit").
  4. As long as you see those option buttons you will not be released from your pits. Do not click any buttons including chat or you will be released when you dismiss that screen.
  5. The AI will drive the car into your pit stall and begin your normal pit stop. At this point you should be watching the race timer and the crew member with the release flag.
  6. When the flag man raises the release lollipop, your 5 minute wait officially begins.
  7. Note the race clock time (or current lap time) and write it down. Manually add 5 mins and write down this time which is when you can leave the pit.
  8. Take a break, stretch, pat your dog and do whatever else makes you feel refreshed.
  9. After the target time has been reached on the race timer hit start and proceed with the remainder of your race.

Driver Change Verification and Infractions:

  • All driver changes will be reviewed and penalties applied for improper execution before the results will become official.
  • If you do not serve the total 5 minutes a double time penalty will be applied to your finish time. e.g. if you serve only 4 minutes then 2 minutes will be added to your finish time.
  • If you accidentally leave the pits early you can avoid a penalty by returning to the pits and serving all of the remaining time on the *very next* lap.
  • Any driver that doesn't attempt a proper driver change will be DQ'd and removed from the official results.

Okay .... since i saw the results from the WW race it was stated that my pit time was 4:15 so i assumed that i had stopped too long.
Assumption is the mother of all .... ups :boggled:

And guilty for the white line infringement. :boggled:

I confirmed for the 1pm race today and it is showing up in the first page, but not on page 9. Do we need to register twice?

Having a lot of trouble getting in the room, is anyone else?

Not sure I've been in a room before that OpticZero was hosting, could this be a compatibility issue? Possible to change hosts, if it is?

Everyone was locked up, so let's try this again. I'll make a new room.

Got disco'd on the second or 3rd race lap. Had a whole bunch of lag from the final corner to turn 1 before it happened, was hoping against hope that it was not the impending doom. Sorry to anyone that I caused issues for. I had a black screen and had to quit game, came back in and saw 15 of you still in the Lobby, so figured it was only me.

The other thing that happened was that my wheel shorted in turn 1 on my last flyer of quali, so I could only run 2 quali laps. I've taken the steering wheel assembly apart, and I am going to try some reinforcement soldering on all of the buttons on the board. It used to work for double shifts on the DFGT, it's the only reason I even have the stuff to do it.

If my surgery goes well, I will plan to try and race tomorrow. The other option is my F1 wheel attachment. I do not recall if it was doing this same thing, or if it was a paddle. If a paddle, I could use the GT paddles to shift. It would be awkward, but I could make it work to race.

If none of this pans out, I will cancel my entry in the morning. Something I really do not want to do, but I don't want to put others' races at risk.

Finally, whatever you do, do not buy any Thrustmaster product - Ever. If you already own one, I am sorry for you. It's the worst ~$1,000 I have spent in my entire life.

Good thing that they pay this site tons of cash to advertise here.

I am entitled to my personal opinion, based on my personal experiences that I would be pleased to document.

I was holding on to save the replay, but just gave up and quit the game. Did it unfreeze after that?
